Beautiful weathering job! The rare times I've done washes, I used artist's water color thinned down considerably. Maybe one of these times, I'll try oils just for fun.

 It's been a tough weekend- medical emergency and all!  About three hours sleep, a trip to the ER at 3AM, and I'm taking care of my wife who's suffering excruciating back pain.  I'm getting a bit done while she sleeps, but have all the other house and dog stuff to handle.    Things are okay, but I don't recommend this kind of weekend activity!.  Hope you enjoy this somewhat brief update!

What kind of paint did oyu use for the color fitler?

Hi, Chuck, yes, I'm praying for your wife to recover quickly too, mate!

I like the color filter, the result looks very realistic, and subtly so.  A question occurred to me while reading this installment, and that is, are you sealing each coat as you go?  That is, you had just finished the decaling and the panel lines, so, did you also prep the surface for the oils you used in the filter, or will you seal the surface, after you've finished this step?

the Baron:  Thanks, Brad- and that's a very good question.  I have been spraying a coat of Future over each sucessive layer of weathering- good thing that stuff goes on thin.  Of course, I'm waiting for the oils to cure before the next coat- tommorow will be fine.  You also have to let the Future dry 24 hours as well.  That's when you work on the sub-assemblies and so forth- cheers! 

wyoroy:  It actually is a wlk in the park- and you can always wippe away an excess or add more of a single color.  The red flap interiors got additional hits of yellow ochre after the initial tratment, 'cause it just looked better, to my eye.  Thanks for positive thoughts- I'm getting a ral bag full from you and the rst of the guys!

Gee, it sounds like the kind of night Mother had when she had to take me to the ER the night after my operation.

I hope your wife's back feels better. My late father used to have back problems as far back as I can remember.

I havent even finished reading the new week update, but I have to post this...

First, what the foozle is a 'music wire'  Im a music major (with a 2 year performance degree already) and I have never heard of a 'music wire.'  I can only suspect you mean piano wire?

Also, do you think enough time has passed to be making abe assassinatoin jokes, I mean he ONLY died in 1865, thats only 143 years ago, give the family some grieveing time, jeeze.

Outstanding!  Thanks especially for the close-ups on preparing the PE for the twin-.50 mount, you really showed, very clearly, how you worked with those tiny, tiny parts.

For Smeagol's benefit, I'll ask as well:  music wire-is that guitar string?  Or piano wire, as he suggested?

And great tip, too, about using the drill bit set to find the right sizes.  How often do we look around our benches, when we're stuck for something, and something hits us, a tool, or a shape that was made for something else, but we have that "2001" moment and find the answer.

Can't wait for the next installment!

Abe the Penny......what do you do? Cut sprues on him?.....I realize he's old, but he's got bullet holes and gashes all over him!

Yes, music wire....I take it to be guitar strings/piano wire......makes a decent garrot too, I understand! But a decent drill index is the way to go!

Glad to see your wife is better, chukw.

I also like the idea of using drill bits as "rolling pins" to get photoetched parts the right size, plus the idea with the eraser and nail file. I'll have to keep that in the back of my head.

It was worth it, too! The machine gun is one of the nicest parts of the whole build!
