 Thank you Chuck! Glad you enjoyed the pics of the airshow. Exquisite work on that engine it looks simply amazing and well worth your efforts. I have a question on the right side. Looking at this pic you can see a metal tube. What is it? Something that bleeds out fuel?  Looked odd.

Actually I should have turned the photo 90 degrees counter clockwise to get the correct perspective on the cowling view. The tube is just aft of the cowling centered on the fuselage. Just not sure what it is? Anyways the pic is a good ref on how Chuck did some fine work on deviling out the engine details that show in the cowling gaps.

With the proper resolution I am thinking he even added the casting numbers to the tiny actuators. Big Smile [:D]

Chuck...have you ever done work with re-storing old war birds...you approach modeling like many of these air museums approach refurbishing great planes...your attention to detail is mind blowing..goes to show what you can turn out by not rushing your work...looking forward to your next project..

Superb as usual chuk. YOu're in luck! The Helldiver in this month's FSM is 1/72!  Yours is different...in a great way with all the oodles and gobs of scratchbuilding you have done.  ANd I still really like the tail stripes of the USS Randolph

Just aguess here, but could it be a p*** tube?  I don't even know for sure if they had them on WWII a/c, but it's center ventral location makes me wonder.....

Being aviation maintenance officer for 20 plus years I do not think it is a breather tube. Breather vents normally would not stick out that much, if at all because all they are performing is a vent to breath. I also do not think it is a dump drain tube because normally dump drain tube are on the bottom of the aircraft. I surely am no expert on this aircraft but it sure does not pass the common sense rule for being a breather or drain tube. It almost looks like a tube to insert some type of hand crank, but I do not know if this aircraft would even have one unless maybe for turning over cyclinders when the prop is not installed. This is definitely one of those things that makes you go Hummmm! Confused [%-)]

BTW, Great..outstanding...terrific..beautiful..etc..etc. Model and I have loved your tutorials throughout the build.

BTW, I added that tube a while back.  It's a dump or drain of some sort- I actually found it by tracing a long stain back to the tube in a couple of wartime photos.   It pays to pay attention!  Thanks again to sfmac for another great pic!

I love these engines.  I am trying to find one for the Accurate Minitures 1/48 SB2U-3 Vindicator, or the 1/48 Dauntless Navy Version from the USS Yorktown at Midway, from Accurate Minitures.  Just picked up both and I am trying to gather parts and resources for the future builds.
