Here is my model from my secret Santa. I am actually quite happy with it as well as I have yet to build a Japanese bird from WW2.

First, thanks to Jon for this GB. So fun! So cool!

Second, I'd like to give a big YOU'RE WELCOME to my Santa-ee! I don't know if you've ever looked through one of those books before, but they're awesome!

And.... not to be outdone by my Santa-ee, I'm wearing my Blue Jackets White Out shirt... Perhaps not as blatent, but you get the pointWink [;)] My gift was from Leaadas, aka Tom. He sent me a real neat plane last year, a Corsair. This year was just as good!

How does he know I like those big, burly radials?! The P-47M... I can't wait!

This little number wasn't much of a suprise... "Santa" came to look it over while I was working HAHA

Merry Christmas everyone!

Glad you liked it Max!

Well as promised here is my photo taken on Christmas Day.  A little late, but it was a made house around here last night and never had time to grace your computer screens, but now is the big moment.

Again, I would like to thank my SS - DrewH for a fantastic gift.

How's everyone doing. Finally got started on my kit today. Small progress but the list is long.

I'm adding detail in the cockpit in the form of small bits and some placards. I reworked the tail wheel to get rid of the huge chunk of plastic that forms the strut. The elevators will get dropped. Wing panel lines filled. MV lenses added to the wing leading edges. The landing gear legs will get my usual rework and detail added. I'm using Moskit exhausts and an Ultracast resin prop also. Maybe a few more things I'll think of.

IP isn't done, just in progress. If you follow the kit instructions this is what it yields. That's all for now. I plan on much more progress tomorrow.

Ha that HK Shooter! always a procrastinator! I was wondering if he'd ever get around to it! Laugh [(-D]

Hans that picture is awesome! Need to ask for an autograph!

Pa Pa John? Great pic but where is the smile? Your beard is way too neatly trimmed to pass for Santa! I want those loafers though?

Had to get my daily chime in!

Finallly got the tree area cleaned up enough for a picture that my wife passes for posting here (not that she rules the roost, but...).  Grandkids had a great Christmas, shredded wrapping paper everywhere.

Steve Arnold, aka Zipmeister sent me a Hobbycraft Do-17Z, which will go straight  to the bench.  What a strange shape the Flying Pencil has, kind of reminds me of a flying frog, the way the wing and fuselage look in plan view.  Thanks, Steve, I will enjoy building it.

Pay no attention to the old guy behind the nice box!

WOW, HK has got progress pics on the 26th. What a surprise, great progress HK your leading the way as usuall.

I went through the JU-88 box today and OMG what a kit. This is gonna be a sweet kit but its going to take a while to build with all the PE thats involved. Took me a while just to understand the instructions.

Hey wait a minute you sound just like my wife.  She said the same thing.  For the record - I'm not actually a smiley person. Grumpy [|(] That was about the best I can do.  Never have been and guess I will never be a smiley person.  I said they name Scrooge after me.

I wanted to grow my beard longer to play Santa, but the other half won't let me.  So I keep threatening her that I will grow my hair long and get a pony tail, if that doesn't work then it will be an earring.  Laugh [(-D]

Loafers - this pair is my old pair,  got a new pair for Christmas.  New ones for upstairs, old ones for in the dungeon.

Builders already - some sure have it bad.  Plasticholic.  They need Plastic-anonomous.  We will be their mentors - Know what happens to a modeller when you take his styrene and glue away - same thing when you take a lollipop for a child.

Yeah, I like to get going on the SSGB ASAP, hard for me to work on anything "santa" related in july.

Steve, that 88 has one mighty full box doesn't it. Lots of stuff in there and make a very nice completed project.

Just wanted to make a cross GB shot out, see how this aircraft one turned out this year.  The armor one I ran (so far) has going over amazing, some of the kits sent and recieved were outstanding as far as quality goes (mostly dragon kits, some other companies I never heard of, go see what Hans the hippy got.)

So, I wanted also, to give a big thanks to JWB for helping me get that one off the ground, It felt great to run it, alot of work, but worth it.  Cant wait till next year.  Heck, I might join this one next year, if some of you sign up for mine, eh'?

More progress.

I can't believe how dead the boards have been all day. Everybody have lives or what?

I've been working on and off with the mustang today. Decided against the placards. I'm going to close the cockpit since I don't currently have a vac part. The kit glass is so thick not much detail will be visible.

I still added a bit of detail. Not much, just some wire for the ant lead and the missing armor plating behind the seat. Detail is decent but mostly incorrect for the P-51A.

Wings are filled, lights are in and masked, ready to be installed.

The elevators are almost done but the pics would be boring so I'll leave them out. I hollowed out the rear of the horizontal stabs and added half round rod to the front of the elevators to complete the airfoil shape. Will post more later. Anyone else started yet?

Freddie from LI here

First, I would like to thank my Secret Santa, Hans Von Hammer, for my gift, a Tamiya A6M2, Model 21, "Zeke".  I get another chance at this kit as I "screwed the pooch" with the first attempt.  Just like last year's kit the AM SB2U, one that I had previously goofed up, I received redemption from my Secret Santa as well as a cool model to build.  Now I'll get another shot at this 1:48 "Zeke".

I hope all had a terrific Christmas and received all the things you were hoping for.  For this modeler, knowing my oldest son is here in the USA, and not on some rock strewn battlefield in Afghanistan, was my Christmas wish.  Remember to think of our soldiers, from ALL allied countries, over there away from their respective families this holiday, and how they are keeping us safe.

Again Hans, thanks for the kit and I'll get busy on here as soon as I can, not as fast as some, (Who shall remain nameless, but are building a P-51 with 20mm guns...) but I'll get cranked over on her real soon.

Merry Christmas to all and have a Happy Healthy and Safe New Years as well

Regards,

Freddie from LI

Jmart set me up in royal fashion!

What better to get for a mustang lover than a mustang! Along with this fantastic kit he included a stack of WWII a/c dvd's and the Squadron walk around issue for the Allison mustangs. Great day here! Thanks James and Merry Christmas!

Looks like some nice stuff going on here! Good day for everyone!

I am glad you like it! I was a tad worried; after I packed up your gift, I saw one of your P-51 WIP threads and low and behold, you mentioned you have this one already! But we all know there is no such thing as too many Mustangs Smile [:)]

Cheers and look forward to your build, which i see just started!

I was just curious, John...do you have any relation to any Ryans in south east Pennsylvania?

You look a hell-of-a-lot like my Uncle John, and A bit like my dad and also share features of my aunt Sue...

Like you said James, can't have to many mustangs. I don't actually have this plane, as it's a cannon armed version. The ones I have are the versions with machine guns. This one will fit right in!

Ok, got started on the Rhino and will post pics soon.  All I've done so far is sand off all the details on the IP and tub.  Got them painted and moved on to the intake trunks.  WOW there are alot of injector marks.  Yikes!  Pulled out the Mr. Surfacer and am now waiting for them to dry before i start sanding.  I got color PE set from Frank with this, so i thought i would step it up even more. I ordered from Squadron a new resin seat and a set of Decals for VFA-142 the Pukin dogs.  I went with the dogs as i am also making a Tomcat with the same markings so i thought it would be cool to display them together.

Will update with pics soon

LATE MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally got my photobucket account restored.  YEAH BABY!!!!!!Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Many thanks to my secret santa raptordriver for hooking me up with the Hobby Boss Hawker Typhoon Mk.1B.  This will be my first foreign prop plane to build. It will be a nice addition to my 1/72 scale collection.  The best thing about the kit is there will be lil to no seam filling required.  Thanks again raptordriver.
