Uhh... I'm not having success with getting the "group badge" to show up.

Can anybody enlighten me on how to do it?

Trexx, you need to go to your FSM profile and edit the signature section. Badges need to be added as HTML. Here are the the html codes for the badges.

"<a href="http://s115.photobucket.com/albums/n316/MerlinzMajik/?action=view&current=MIGKILLERSGB001.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n316/MerlinzMajik/MIGKILLERSGB001.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>" Mig in target

"<a href="http://s115.photobucket.com/albums/n316/MerlinzMajik/?action=view&current=MIGKILLERSGB002.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n316/MerlinzMajik/MIGKILLERSGB002.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>" F-105 Mig Killer

"<a href="http://s115.photobucket.com/albums/n316/MerlinzMajik/?action=view&current=MIGKILLERSGB003.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n316/MerlinzMajik/MIGKILLERSGB003.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>" Lining up the Mig shot

"<a href="http://s115.photobucket.com/albums/n316/MerlinzMajik/?action=view&current=MIGKILLERSGB004.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n316/MerlinzMajik/MIGKILLERSGB004.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>" Phantoms Mig Hunting

Do not add the quotation marks they are only there so this will show up as html code.

Hope this helps.

I was going to build that same Mig killer F-14A on the last Mig Killers GB but never could find the low-vis decals I needed for that F-14A. I hope you have better luck getting the decals than I did.

Trexx,

I have ALWAYS loved the IAF paint schemes.  I picked up 2 of the 1/72 Hasegawa F-4E kits the other day.  I have a REALLY BAD need to make one of 'em an IAF bird for this build.  Or an Iranian (IRIAF) bird.  Gotta get my Sea Fury first though.

Awww...

Love the Meteor! I didn't know that Migs had been smacked down with a Meteor. So cool.

Here's a photo of the plane I want to recreate for the Group Build:

Abraham Shalmon's Mirage IIIC. Thirteen kills! I want to make it up very weathered and used. (Unlike my Convair F-106s that are somewhat pristine)

I'm gonna need after market decals!

Correct about the Honchos. There is a great book I have read entitled Hot Shots that is about the Korean air war from the beginning to the end of the Korean War. Great read as it describes the dangers and complications with early jet combat and also F-51's going up against Mig-15's. It also mentions the "Honchos" and Korean War pilots meeting Russian Honchos at reunions and such. Usually involved some type of arguement.

Anyways, if I get my 1/72 F-4C, I plan on making Lt Col. Robert Titus's F-4C #64-0776. The plane itself was a triple Mig killer but Titus scored a Mig-21 with a SUU-16/A gunpod. I believe that it was depicted in the History Channel's "Dogfights".

You guys are going to find as we reseach our planes that hardly any pilots that have kills over Mig's rarely got thier kills in their assigned aircraft. It's very rare that pilots get to fly the planes they got thier names on. Its also intetresting to note that many of the Mig's that were shot down in the Korean War where flown by Russian pilots and not Korean pilots. The term "Honcho" was a term used for Mig-15 pilots that flew their planes well and those planes were almost aways flown by Russian pliots.

Actually, it's quite interesting to look at pilots who got to go on some pretty adventurous operations whils on exchange postings. Flt Lt Dave Morgan is one who springs to mind. He got Kills in the falklands war whilst on exchange from the RAF to the RAN ( no migs though - the Argies had A4's, Mirages, Daggers etc )

Thanks Simon.  I've seen that plane several times over the years and I never thought why a USMC Col was flying a USAF aircraft.  Just as it never occurred to me that a Google search would explain this.

Put me down for the 1/72 Trumpeter Sea Fury as well.  Was tempted by Glenn's Mig Mad Marine F-86 at the LHS, but I'm trying to thin the stacks a little bit (will probably go back and pick it up on payday).  Can someone explain why a Marine Col. was flying a USAF aircraft in combat?  I also saw the Airfix Sea Fury as well, and it's box takes up a third of the shelf space that the Trumpeter does for the same size kit.

That Meteor should look pretty good when built up.

Edit 1 : OK - it will be the Meteor. out of box, as Royal Australian Air Force Machine A77-851. Flight Sergeant George Hale claimed one Mig 15 kill and one probable in this machine.

May I join? I plan on getting the new 1/72 Hasegawa F-4C Phantom II for Christmas and would love to build a Mig killer out of it.

It's on sale, has the markings for the Bug you're looking for.  1/48th scale.

Good luck.

Matt,

Thanks for the heads up on the decals. I decided I am definatly going with the F/A-18C, VFA-81 Mig Killer. I only hope the decals will still be there when I am ready to buy them next month. I also need the F/A-18C Bug kit and I am eyeballing buying one off E-vil-bay. Yuck [yuck]@eBay.
