the story so far on my pocket rocket. main assy done and engines fitted minus afterburners, missing door replaced and bust tail fixed (the last 5mm(ish) was snapped off and another 5mm or so was bent) i am going to paint over the cockpit windows due to one side window missing and sink marks in the other one but i can't decide weather to use blue or black for this, main u/c assembled and painting started. airframe is almost ready for first primer coat after a little more filler on the stbd wing root. still looking for the gold lettering. hope to have it finished by march 1st. Tango, £5 seems outrageous..! I hope it comes fast and well packed, for that sort of money!

Diego, nice of you to pop in here!

Hi all,
I found some N gauge figures at my LHS and Revell said they would provide me with a new windscreen for £5.00! I can't believe it! Five pounds for a tiny piece of clear plastic-if this was'nt for a good friend of mine, I certainly would'nt pay it.
The things I do for my friends.................sigh!
Maybe I could persuede him into getting a nice 1/72 scale kit.............!!!

Hi Pals! Very good initiative, such a nice bird deserves to be remembered by our community.

Personally I'm "out of the building business" for the moment, but keep in touch with the hobby (and my research/reading on interesting modelling subjects). The only moment I boarded a Concorde was at Duxford Museum (G.B.), I think it's one of the prototypes (white and red livery): SUPERB PLANE !!! (and near a TSR2...).

Can anyone confirm if a 1/72 IM Concorde kit is/will be available?

Good luck to all the Bulld Group members,
Diego.

yes its sad when any airline folds up so many good ones besides Sabena
Pan AM ,BOAC,Ansett etc.The airline business is so competitive
and unpredictable that its a wonder any of them manage to stay
afloat.Sign - Off Topic!! [#offtopic]

love that martian..

HaHaHa! Good one. Well, if you've never tried it, it's a bit late since SABENA went down with the World Trade Centre... In truth, and it's not because I'm from Belgium, SABENA' service were very good. I flew with them to the US and several times to and from London and it must have been sone of the best flights I ever had. I'm very sad they're not there anymore....

Greg, got the decals in the post today-thank you.

Domi, great work! Now if I could only get mine to look like that................

I've completely ruined the supersonic window! Do Revell issue spare parts?

I'm glad you like it Dwight. It's not going to be a contest winner, but I'm really pleased with it so far.. It's the first airliner I've built in 5 years. Quite an achievement in itself! And I've always wanted to complete a Concorde for my collection. I started one about 10 years ago but never completed it - put it away in the loft but it somehow disappeared when I moved -.

If I ever manage to find out which particular aircraft I flew in, I might even re-build another one...

Greg, I'm really curious now... Would it be Royal, of Canada..?

I've added my last decal (a BIG 'thank you' to Bruno of the Sabena Modeller's Club in Brussels!) and sprayed (rattle can) a final coat of varnish. It looks quite good, I think. Now, I just have to add the black around the hot parts of the engines, the supersonic ramp, the u/c and the various antennaes (+ a final weathering near the moving parts of the wings & fin and u/c).

A view of the infamous 'bump' on the fin that gave me quite a bit of anguish... The Sabena 'meatball' decal I had was not meant for Concorde, but for a 737, an aircraft that has a sensible bump-free fin..! Thanksfully, my DACO decal sheet had a couple of spare meatballs and I cut strips out of them to complete the logo on the model...

Views of the underside, busy with tons of decals and other transfers...

Hi Domi, its got raised lines that are quite fine.the fit of the parts so far hasn't been too bad but it suffers from quite alot of sink marks (on just about everything). hopefully i will be posting some pics soon after i have made the door to replace the missing one and filled / sanded the sink marks. i have now decided on the markings but havn't got all the decals for it, all i need to get is some gold letraset letters in the right style and the correct blue paint, i,ll keep the markings secret for now tho (but i may have just gave it away with those clues)Wink [;)]. later. Got your three comments, DJ. I am leaving the bird for a while to enable the decls to set fully. I'll get back on it this Saturday.

Thanks.

progress report..... i checked the box contents and the port cockpit mindow and one of the doors is missing aaaaaAAAAAAAGH.... nothing i can't make tho. wings together (full of sink marks). i am going to glue the fuselage sides together tonight because i can sort the window out through the gap for the s/sonic winow. i may paint in the windows as there are also sink marks in the stbd window and i havn't got any crystal clear and filling it seems the only option (and it will make sorting the port winow easier too). thats the build so far (btw TANGO 1 decals are on their way). i am building the bird ootb but the markings may not be tho. later (and pics later). For figures, check the train section for N gauge figures. Actually, N Gauge is pretty close to 1/144 and in this scale its hard to notice any differences. The Preiser ones might be expensive, but other companies like Bachmann make cheap N guage figs and they can be carved up and repainted easily enough to make whatever you want.

Preiser have some civilian 1/144 figures. Check your local train hobby shop. Quite expensive, though!

Hi everyone,

here's where I'm at at the momentBlush [:I] I sanded down the main body and sprayed some primer on only to find yet another sink mark-Sign - Oops [#oops] So I've put some more filler on and I'll leave it overnight to dry. I got the engine houses built and painted and sprayed the landing gear.

Then a really big problem occured....Disapprove [V]The super-sonic windscreen I masked up and painted white looked truly awful after I removed the tape. All the paint ran underneath and It's been a complete Evil [}:)]to get off! In the end I put a coat of transparent blue over the whole thing to give it a tinted look. Best I could do-it looked terrible after I got the white paint offBlush [:I].
I'll re-do the white frame with some white decal paper I think.

Now a question, anyone know where I can accquire some 1/144 scale figures? Yes I know it's a long-shot but any ideas would be most welcome
Smile [:)]

Looking good. I have a Concorde model I started last month (Revell 1/144) so I might join you if I can get it done. Planned livery for it is the fictional one from the atrocious film "The Concorde, Airport 79". The actual plane that wore that livery though was the same one that crashed in 2000.
