Dwight, don't be too hard on yourself..! It does look pretty good from over here. I'll make three comments but two of them might just be the pictures..

1. the nose undercarriage main doors are closed. They only open in the air when the gear is being retracted or lowered. Easy to change!

2. Add tiny drops of a thick black wash into the fuselage windows. You can skip a few on each side to give the impression that some peole have shut their 'sun-screens'. Complete later with a drop of gloss varnish (or some Future).

3. There seem to be a bit of 'transluscency' in the nose area, ahead of the cockpit. Could you remove it, or the ramp and give the inside another coat of paint..?

But all in all, it's a very pleasing model you've got there, Swight. You've earned your Group Build medal.

I have so far set about 85% of the decals and have found out (the hard way) that I should have chosen the Air France markings. This is because the line running along the fuselage is composed of 4 strips of decals that are not perfectly of the same width. Disapprove [V]

Also I would recommend that when doing the tail markings paint the red and blue background and use the separate crown logo decal provided (for revell only) because there is a small winglet at the tail section that needs to be painted with same color as the tail markings. Matching the decal color and paint might be difficult.

I previously planned to weather this bird after setting the decals but because of the fragility of the decals, I might leave it as it is. Anyway it doesn't look that bad as it is. Looks more like a diecast plane replica being sold at stores. Big Smile [:D]

Also the decals ae very small and could take time to set and align. They looked good though when in place.Wink [;)]

This is what I have done so far...

1.) Applied the final coat of paint.
2.) Paint-detail the small parts.
3.) Applied 1 coat of gloss clear.

Here are the pics...







Probably what I can do tonight...

1.) Finalize the paint detailing. Some parts have yet to be paint-detailed.
2.) Apply another coat of gloss clear.
3.) Set the decals.
4.) Do weathering(?) Maybe...
5.) Final coat of gloss clear.

The Doyusha molds have been around for a while. The latest released kit of the Concorde must be the Revell one, in 1889 I think. It still has some major flaws. The Airfix and the Heller ones must date back to the mid to late '70s, but are production aircraft. There is an earlier Airfix kit, from the '60s, but that's a prototype Concorde with the short fuselage, different nose and engine hot ends.

It's possible the Doyusha kit(s) dates back to at least 1973, because at that time, the finalised Concorde was still not flying (although the pre-production aircraft were, with the 'correct' engine hot ends), and because Japan Air Lines were at that time still in line to get some Concordes..

So I think that the only way to model the last BA flight would be to get the Airfix kit (latest release with the correct revised BA scheme).

Yeah - funny you should mention the 1/100 scale a/c, cos I went to my fav LHS yesterday and laid eyes on the Revell, Airfix, Heller, & Doyushas large scale planes. I asked the shop owner if I could open the box ( but I didn't tell him that I wasn't interested in buying it). And the 1/100 looked exactly the same, only with some extra finer surface detail. I must admitt I haven't yet studied the design-production or pre-prod craft - mainly been concentrating on the production model. Sounds interesting though - Why would they mold a pre-production craft & market it as the production craft? Did they buy the molds off someone? And if so, does this mean taht is an old mold? And if so, has someone already released this model years ago? Some questions may never be answered - LOL.

Luke, it sounds like you have a prototype Concorde there, rather than the production aircraft... The prototype had a shorter fuselage, with the tip ending right after the fin, different engine 'hot ends' (the production aircraft had the clamshel type of thrust reverser), and a different nose profile, accommodating a different supersonic ramp...

So by the looks of it, Doyusha's 1/200 kit is a scale down copy of their 1/100 kit, which Brian (J-Hulk) has...

had to remove some extra antennaes, extend the fuselage beyond the tail (cos it was too short in the 1/200 scale), and glued the Lt & Rt fuselage halfs together, only later to find out that there's a gap fit problem btw it and the wing piece. Waiting for the putty to dry!

Finaly completed the decaling on this bird! Well, I'm lying, since I still have one more Sabena title coming from Belgium to replace the one I messed up... But all the little stencils and more have now been added. It looks busy and pretty cool. I still have to paint the main cockpit windows, complete the detailing of the u/c and add the supersonic ramp (slightly reworked to accomodate the changes I made to the windshield.

Also still needed to be done are the black 'hot' areas of the engine nacelles.

And a final coat of satin varnish.

It all now depends on howfast that decal will be coming from the Continent!

Braniff operated Concorde on that route with BA aircraft and mixed crew. Not sure whether Braniff titles were ever worn by the aircraft though...

hey guys - I've never done one of these group builds, so I take it you all buy the same or similar model and build it together? Makes much easier for the research side of things.

My father recently bought a Doyusha 1/200 scale Concorde. He was deciding btw that kit & the Hellar 1/125. He asked me to build it for him so how could I knock back building a model!!!!! He expressed interest in BAe Concorde 214 G-BOAG last commerical flight 24 Oct 2003.

Reading thru the replies above, no-body bought either of the two kits mentioned. I'm going to build the kit over the New Years holiday (ie time off work). If you boyz are still interested, and if this Group Build hasn't finished yet, I'll post some photos of my build.

Slowly getting there... I used a dark wash in those little recesses along the top of the leading edges and along the ailerons. Worked quite well. Better than the decals that Revell were providing since they did not match at all, and they appered too light anyway.

Used a dry lead pencil to 'accentuate' a little the panel lines, and gave a very light coat of varnish to seal that. The bottom remains to be done...

Messed up a Sabena title, but another one is coming from Belgium so that's OK..!

Will post a pic tomorrow 'cause I'm too tired!

Hey Concorde crew!
Sorry I've not been around lately-I've been having problems with my modem. You fellas have certainly been busy! I've not got as far as some of you with my kit, but I took DJ's advice and used milliput to fill in the gapes on my revell kit. I have to say I can't belive I've not used it before-it works so well! Thanks for the heads-up domi.
I'll be sanding down this week and working on the landing gear-I'll post pics when those jobs are done.

After a bit of research, I found out that the folowing airlines had paid deposits to secure their places in the delivery schedule:

Air France, BOAC, Pan Am, Quantas, Continental, Middle East Airlines, American, TWA, Eastern, United, Air Canada, Braniff, Japan Airlines, Lufthansa, Air India, CAAC and Sabena, plus two aircraft for the Shah of Iran...

Pan Am was the first one to pull out on 31 January 1973 (oil crash) followed by TWA, then the rest, leaving only Air France and BOAC as (obligatory) customers...
