The only US airline to operate Concorde was Braniff, between Washington DC and Dallas TX.

Continental was amongst the 7 airlines (with Sabena) that had options as early as 1964 (5 years before the first flight).

Greg,

sorry, no BOAC spare decals at all in here... I've got some Varig decals with the latest scheme, KLM, Braniff, JAL, Aloha, Air Vanuatu, Dan-Air, Turkish, Hawaiian, FedEx, VASP, Cayman Airways, Easwind, Condor, Harlequin Air, TransBrasil, TNT, Air UK, Pluna, Lufthansa, Crossair, TDA, Philippines, and Garuda that could fit the 1/144 Concorde...

WOW Domi that looks great in the Sabina livery. i recently sent some decals to Woody in a swap and there where some Sudan airlines marks in that would have looked good on this bird too but it would have ment some awkward painting. i have got some Iberia marks that would look good on it but i havn't fully made up my mind what markings i am going to do but i have got a favorite that i just may try. if i had some BOAC marks i would do it in them though, i did have the original airfix concorde in these marks (more years ago than i care to remember) and it looked great in them. Here are how things looked yesterday... Yes, it's a Sabena plane... Sabena of course never operated the beautiful white bird but what the heck... They were part of the airlines that showed interest at one time, so I'm modeling my Concorde in a mid-70s Sabena Scheme (without the blue cheatlines at the window level)...Smile [:)]

Since that picture, I've added a large number of other decals and the underside is literally full of them! One problem though, so far, is the Sabena 'meatball' logo on the fin... The one on the left side is easy-peasy, but the one on the right side is right on that huge bulge and I'm having to do decal surgery... [:0]

Looks good Dwight! You're fast! What livery are you going for..? I have some Philippines Airlines markings if you're interested...?! It's just the titles, you'd still need to paint the fin in the national markings...

I'm doing a 'what if' livery...

Well here's what I have done as of this time. Applied the first coat (more like a priming coat). Then some rough surfaces showed that needs to be puttied and sanded this evening.

Worked on the landing gears except for the tail-mounted one, too. Painted the rubber tire and the struts. Did some light weathering also.

Here are pics.

Have now started the decaling process... The kit's decal sheet has a ton of various stencils and that's going to take a while to get them all on..! Noticed that the greyish decal dotted lines that go around the wing do not fit the depressions in the wings... That's gonna call for paint... a wash will hopefully be just what's needed...

Despite all the stencils provided by Revell, I noticed some missing 'markings', particularly black areas under the leading edges of the wings and on the lips of the spitter plate separating the two intakes of each of the nacelles... I'll probably be using some rub-on transfers...

So did I, but you're the third one (out of three of us) having the problem... I used plasticard to fill in from the inside, to get a strong surface to work on, then milliput to fill the gaps. No sanding required, just a bit of re-engraving required.

I did. I am going to try and see if I can fill them properly and retool the grooves. I thought it was just me or something I did wrong. LOL.

Did you get those awful gaps at the bottom of the leading edges too, Dwight?

I have finally glued the wings and the fuselage together. I am going to do some puttying and sanding tonight but since it will be Christmas Eve (Dec. 24 now here) I don't expect much progress.

PDQ..? Is that Pretty Damn Quick..? LOL

White primer/final scheme was sprayed on today. I needed 3 light coats to get it the way I wanted. So far so good. Tomorrow, I'll be spraying the varnish (Halford's gloss varnish) and try to get a nice smooth satin finish.

Looking good, Dwight..! Those anti-FOD bits look just right. One thing I should have done on mine that I suggest you do: Those engine nacelles: take a bit of plasticard and close the opening that will be facing the inside of the wing, 'cause as it is, it does not look too good and before that, close up the exhaust 'holes' either with a bit of plasticard or better, sections of plastic tubing. Without that, there's a certain amount of 'see-through'...

Sanded down what I had to sand down, re-scribed and gave a second coat of grey primer (white would not have covered the putty very well). Gonna get some white primer next, which will actualy be my main scheme color, before applying a coat of varnish, the decals then another coat of varnish. From then on it will be detail and subtlwe weathering time...

Well, so far this what I have done:

1.) Glued the two fuselage halves together.

2.) Assembled the jet engine housing and all.

3.) Assembled (dry fit only) the landing gears.

Here are the pics:

The fuselage, engines and landing gears

Close up of the landing gears. Taking cue from DJ I added the anti-FOD devices and added a strut on the front landing gear as well as what looks like side covers for the wheels.

Beside these modifications I don't think I'll do more on the rest of the bird.

Having completed my Panther assignment, I have re-started working on the beautiful white bird.. Attached the nose in the 5degrees down position (taxiing position). I've left the supersonic ramp off at the moment, but I had to thin down quite considerably the edge where the ramp normaly touches the nose so that I can slide the ramp in at a later stage. I also filled most of the nose with milliput. A first coat of primer revealed a few areas where I still need a bit of sanding, particularly over the left wing. I should be starting the white scheme soon though...

That it is, Dwight!
All the Revell stuff seems to be marked way up. I guess it just depends on the import deals the companies arrange!

That's quite expensive for me J-hulk. I got my Revell 1/144 Concorde for about $14 only but then again, almost everything is expensive in Japan.

The Revell retails here at £13.99 and the Airfix at £12.99. Airfix kits appears to be reasonably priced there, Brian. But the Revell kit must be something like US$10 more...

Hi, folks!
Although I have the 1/100 Doyusha Concorde that I'm gonna build one of these days, the LHS just got in the 1/144 Revell and Airfix kits, too. I thought they would be really expensive (imported stuff usually is), but I was surprised at the prices. The Revell kit was 3,200 yen ($29 USD) and the Airfix was 2,080 yen ($19 USD). That's not much more than what they're selling for in Europe, North America, and other Asian countries, no?

DJ: Thanks for the tip. Let me see if I can do the same.

Greg: Sorry to hear that. I was in the same situation some weeks back. But a little patience always work.

Good luck.

went to my mates modelshop today and he said that he couldn't get hold of one for me. his supplier told him that he tried to order 400 concordes from airfix and the guy on the other end of the phone just laughed then said there was none to be had, even airfix had run out of them. well i'll just have to keep looking, cheers and later.
