I'm building the Heller 1/125-scale concorde, photocopying the British Airways decals down from those in the 1/100 Doyusha/Testors kit.

Due to rather spotty (speckled?) dithering by colour photocopiers, the plan is to either
(A): spray a clear-blue glaze to bring the blue areas to a more "natural" tint, or,
(B): make several photocopies of the Doyusha decal sheet at 1/125, so I have several for mistakes, contingencies, etc. while using them as masks & markings.

Neither (solution?) seems appetizing, since either way I'd have work to do detailing/picking-out the "Britannia" figure on the tail .....

ere is my Doyusha 1/200 Concorde - it's a pre-production model cause the fuselage is shorter and I've had to take some flarings off the tail. The model was warpped and I melted it back into place using hottish water. Theres a huge gap between the wing join connection requiring putty but havent done that yet. I plan to have an inflight model mounted on a thin steel rod to a mirror base-board. Sorry the pics are small.

heres an update on my ongoing disaster.... oops i mean build. the Wardair decals are on, after a fight with them because the damned things kept breaking up, and the other decals (doors ect) are going on some time this week. i still havn't found a replacement wheel for the one that was missing from the kit but i have still got a couple of spares boxes to look through yet, the canopy frame lines need painting, then its u/c doors and glosscote time. maybe a couple of weeks yet then its pic posting time.

Sorry to hear about all those troubles you're experiencing, Greg.. I painted my wheels yesterday, as well as the first coat of white over the canopy lines and the black areas of the engine pods. I did more on this bird yesterday night than in two months! Tonight, I hope to place the legs and wheels on, and complete the canopy with the final white coat and some Klear (Future). I think I might still need a coat of Klear all over, or at least on the upper surfaces..??

Wheels and legs have now been washed/drybrushed. I still have to paint the chromed sections of the legs. Supersonic ramp is completed too, just awaiting positioning. Still debating about a final coat of Klear/Future... I'm seeing the end of this project!

All right. I finally applied 4 thin coats of Klear and I'm now rather pleased with the look of the White Bird. The wheels/legs will be on tonight, and there will only be a bit of weathering left to do before adding antennaes, pitots and the like...

I may complete this GB project tonight, guys!!! 4 more to go..!

Hi guys,
new to this board, but thought I would say hi, also doing some Concordes, doing the prototype, which was my first model for...15 years! Used the F-resin conversion, uses several parts of the Airfix/ Revel kit too, has to correct prototype nose, tail and wings. Met Laurent the maker at Telford, not tried the Braz models engines though.
also got the Doyusha 1/100 concorde, and persuaded F-dcal (who make the F-resin decals) to print me up scale up some prototype decals for it. Will look a lot better than the Landor Livery on it!

Hey there, actually working ona load of things, have the 1/100 Tu-144 to go with my Concordes, though the decals are very poor for Concordeski, and the panel lines are mountain ridges!). Most of my stuff is airliners at the mo, meaning to break into my military stash though :)
I have a mini site here, have a few airliners on there including my comet 1 conversion, look forward to chatting soon.
Edward

Hi Edward. it was at the sports center in Huddersfield. i asked because there was a VC10 and a 146 that looked like yours there. i'm just on the other side of the ringroad near the M62. some of us are planning on a small meet at Newark air museum on july the 11th, are you interested? it's not going to be a show or anything like that, just a get together.

Edward, Have you located decals to replace the VEB ones??? Just asking because I'm interested. I've got one Tu-144 coming from Germany. I know how poor the kit is since I built one 16 years ago, and I'm wondering how to improve this one...

Greg, I've not been boycotting the thread about the Newark meet. I'm still considering it, despite the fact that it's quite far for me. At the moment, that week end is OK in terms of face-painting, with a single booking on the Sunday that should allow me to go to the meet. But things can change fast and I'll only confirm a few days before the 11th I'm afraid...

thats cool Domi, how about contacting the air museum and asking if you can do some facepainting there? a forum meet and a bit of extra coin for you could be a good idea, wadaya think?.
no problem there Edward. there will be other meets no doubt.
best regards.

Hi there, never heard of any decals to replace the VEB ones, they are very poor, and the windows on the kit are WAY too big (though hte number is correct for the version). Have filled the windows on mine in ( and have just gled the nose on, the gaps are far too big to leave it moveable).
Think I may try and scan the decal sheet, use the side stripes as a template and introduce some smaller windows, the flag on the tail lacks the hammer and sickle too. Alternatively, the side stripes are a paint job, luckily the scheme is fairly simple.
The fuselages seems over wide to me, but checked some drawings and seems to bein the same ball park, (what do you reckon? The fuselage is 10m short ( as it is the prototype) too, which may account for it looking stubby!
I guess we will have to wait for Braz models production version in November!

I got my Tu-144 at last! Bought it on e-Bay for #8364;25 (incl. postage from Germany). What's in the box is not worth that money, but that's the only (decently sized) kit of this big white bird, so...

I also got from the library (on the same day!) a book called 'Soviet SST, the technopolitics of the Tupolev Tu-144', by Howard Moon (Orion Books, 1989). It's a very interesting read! Unfortunately, there's not enough pictures!

I'm not really sure when I'm gonna start this kit. There's indeed an awful lot of work to turn it into something that will look good... I have a number of VEB kits in various stages of completion (Mercure, 727-100, Yak-40, Mil Mi-10) and I have so far not managed to keep the interest alive long enough to complete any...
