Marc, Panzer88 - good work boys! Glad too see that Jagdpanzer getting built - certainly is a fairly rare variant here on the forums. Wingy, you going 2 or 3 tone camo?

Thanks dupes.  The sheet calls out a tight 3 tone on everything besides the side skirts.  They just get some large green splotches.

The Wirbelwind so far...

Seats were glued down after the springs were installed and epoxy putty cushsions made...

The radios were scratched for the bottom one, the top was a vac-form.  The seats are a combo of Plastuct  and Evergreen, the springs are the plastic curly-thingies from the drill bit... The rest of the compartment is sheet plastic sign...

Hey wing_nut, Looking very nice! The damaged schurtzen looks great. This build alone should put you up 2 ranks! One for the panzer and one for the schurtzen. Looking forward to the camo app.

Lookin' good HVH.

Thank you Mobiuos.  And you may be right about the schurzen deserving a stripe on its own Wink [;)]

I love days like this when there's nothing to do but model Tongue [:P]

Camo is done. I know the skirts are too low. They are still on the card with some black paper covering it.  Kind of a "test fit"

Is it too late to join this GB?  I'm finishing one panzer IV now (I know that one can't be entered) and I just got Tamiya's 1/35 IV H.

Hans von Hammer- that's some sweeeeet scratch building you got going on there. Are you gonna scratch a whole interior?

Nah, just the driver/radio compartment... The dio doesn't require a complete interior because the vehicle's "in action"... If I were doing the Panzer IV, then Id' likely do the entire interior..

Nice camo Wing nut!! I like how the side skirts are just green and the rest is green and brown!

Do any of you guys know what kind of MG was in the turet of the ausf G the one beside the main gun?? and how was it atached inside the turet??

Any help would be greatly apreciated!!!!

Smile [:)]

Thanks guys for all the nice comments. I really do appreciate them.

SAR-The Div. marking will go toward the front of the turret schurzen.  Poor planning on my part pout some battle damaged zim where this will go so the grizzly bear will be chipped away a little.

Tigerman-What I got form that discussion was that it was going to be less likely on a J than an H and there were plenty of pics of IV's with the zim on the turret skirt and not the sides. It was the turret zim that pushed me to this vehicle

Mike-Funny, that was the first thing I thought of too.  Is doog trying to ell us something

Tread-glad you stopped by. It won;t be clean for long

Stick Man-I believe they were the 7.92mm MG 34.

Sorry JMart I meant to respond to you above.  I was getting impatient and didn't wait for the Gator glue.  Turned out to be good thing because by the time I got to it in my mailbox, it was frozen solid. And I am told it is  useless now.  Kenny is sending me another bottle.  Now THAT is customer service.

I think they might Marc, that was the first thing I noticed as "off",  then I read your post addressing Mobious.  But...does the paint scheme you picked have the stripes on the schurzen?  If not, trudge ahead and see how she looks after the washes.  The difference is striking now but may be toned down with the washes.  You can always add the stripes later if you choose.  Food for thought...Burger [BG]

Hey Steve.  I thin kmobious meant the schurn are like a kit all by themselves so I should 2 rank "stripes" on my badge. At least that what I thoughtSmile,Wink, & Grin [swg]   I am in the process of spraying filters, 90/10 thinner/paint, of the base color to tone everything down and tie it all together.  Got 3 on now and a couple more should do the trick.

That's correct, The fiddly bits on the schurtzen would test my patience to the max. Worthy of an additional stripe as outlined in section 3, paragraph 1 of the Mobious Rule Book.Wink [;)] Glad to see them assembled and painted. Now I know it can be done. Thumbs Up [tup]

The camo is unusual, but I assumed you had a reference pic you were working from. Looking forward to updates on the weather.

I decided to start my Jagdpanzer IV A/O today. I think I'm going to try a mini WIP/Tutorial on this build. I'll post tips and problems as I build.

Anyway, here we go. I'm not going to be building this in order. I never do so don't get confused. I'm starting on the lower hull with cutting off a bit of plastic so the upper hull fits. Here is a pic of one side cut off.

You can see were Dragon wants you to cut.

Make sure you get the cut exact or else the upper hull will not fit properly. Next, I added some of the frontal armor. In this step it wants you to glue A1 and A2 to the sides of the hull. I found that the directions tell you to put A1 in A2's place and A2 in A1's place. So just make sure you check the fit of those parts before glueing.

Thats all for now. I'll have more later. I'd better study for my exam now.

Erik

Coming along nicely Geist. Wingnut, are you done yet? You're a machine. Here's some more progress pics of my Jagdpanzer IV/70(A). I have the hull all assembled and glued together. I had to add a couple of periscopes and lower their guards (they just sat too high). I also had to modify the mantlet so that I could fit the barrel into it and then I had to modify the attachment point for the gun/mantlet assembly since I was using the AM barrel ( I added a piece of the kit barrel onto the backside of the AM barrel and shortened the attachment point to compensate for the added length). Looks like my Frankenstein experiment worked. Next up,adding the schurzen rails and wire mesh schurzen, painting and assembling the wheels and tracks.

All right guys theres an update on my progress!

the hull........

Npw for the MG inside the turet......

decide to use this old Tamyia MG but modify it a bit with some DML bits.

If it's not exactly the right one oh well I'll live and if it's not atached to the inside of the turet right oh well I'm just puting it in so whene you look in the turet there will be something there not just empty space..... if any of you guys have pix of the ausf G's turet intirior I'd like to see them pleas... Thanks!!

Here is what I'll be useing.......

I started by opening the ole for the MG....

Than I opened the end of the gun....

and cut off the back part....

and than removed the trigger and stuff....

next I cleaned up the DML pice and glued it on....

And thats where it is so far even though I'm useing the parts form the front MG I think it will look fine....

Nice work on your builds guys!!!!

Smile [:)]

Kit bashing MG's? Good idea. I wasn't too happy with the look of the Tamiya gun.

Gator's is a one man (Kenny) operation; great guy, great constumer service. You can always find him at ModelShipwrights (ship "sister" forum to armorama/aeroscale)

panzer88 -It lives! (Frankstein experiment ;)

stickman - nice work on the SB MG; your pics are focused on the instructions, not the model. Maybe use a neutral background to force the cam to focus closer?
