Here is the first painting update. My basecoat is straight PolyS Panzer Dark Yellow. Next up is going to be PolyS Panzer Olive Green then PolyS Panzer Red Brown. Can you tell I like PolyS?

Erik, good going so far. I personally don't care for Poly. I just have a tough time getting it to cover. I prefer Tamiya or Model Master Acryls.

Very nice progress updates all! It's neat seeing the Jagdpanzers form 3 different manufactures being built. Have fun with the builds. Looking forward to seeing more phenomenal updates from everyone.

HEY...I am starting to think I need a bath or something (imagine a smiley smelling his arm pits here).  Every time I finish up a GB... that's when the building gets cranked up.  OR maybe iI need to slow down a bit so I last longer? (don't even go thereWink [;)])

Excellent progress from all of you.  I may need to throw together something else for this one.

I just like the variety PolyS presents. It seems like everyone uses Tamiya and builds start to look the same after awhile. You know what I mean?  I do use Tamiya occasionaly though. They are a dream to airbrush.

Evening all.

Done a bit more work to my Jagpanzer, what a simple and straight forward kit this has turned out to be. I've left the tools and spare track of the body until it's painted. The kit comes with a choice of long and short barreled 75mm guns, the short is in 2 pieces, while the long is just a single piece, I decided to go with the long barrel. The schurzen aren't fixed in place , they just hang on supports down both sides of the body.

Next up is painting and adding the tools, spare track and wheels.

I use Tamiya acryls almost exclusively, but do mix it up every now and then just for the reason you mentioned above...either that, or mix some other shades in to prevent everything from looking identical!

Wingy - you "MAY" need to build something else? There's eleven months left before this GB expires...I should hope you have a full shoulderboard by the end. Wink [;)]

Ahhhhhh! A DML 1/72 Panzer IV chassis! It's about time! I'm with you...going to have to pick one up to bang out for this GB! Big Smile [:D]

Everyone's builds are coming along nicely. I don't think that I would have all that patience to take care of all those injector pin marks on that Trumpy kit, hats off to you. Well with all this progress, I figured that I should show that I've been doing something too. The Jagdpanzer is pretty much ready for paint, I added some periscopes since the kit lacked them. Yeah, and Dupes can you put me down for couple more kits, Tamiya's Ausf. J and Dragon's Ausf. J Late. I couldn't help myself. The Dragon Ausf. J is almost ready for paint and the Tamiya kit still has some work. The Schmall Turm Panzer IV is coming along slowly, I had to use a bunch of squadron putty to repair and rebuild the back of the turret and some on top of the hull (had to break out the dremel tool and do some grinding) to help smooth things out. Still have to sand the hull roof down smooth.

Yes, there sure is some really nice builds going on!

Mine has came to a halt, due to lack of color, and my LHS didn´t have them, so I decided to try Tamiya. So I´ll put in an order asap! Smile [:)]

Cheers,

Question.  Is the Hummel clasified as a tank destroyer?  At our May club meeting the theme is "Destroyer Night".  Anything that was design as a destroyer or has that word in its name. Like the USS Buchanan, the Dicker Max, or an Me 110... all are "destroyers" I can kill 2 bid with 1 stone.

Who makes the best Hummel?

No. The Nashorn was based on the Pz IV chassis and was considered a TD. The Hummel with its 150mm was designed for artillery support.

Dragon just released a Premium Edition with all the goods. They have an Early and Initial as well. From the reviews I've read on the Initial and Early, they appear to be very good kits. I wouldn't mind either myself.

If you are considering the Nashorn, then kit 6166 is the Early and also is considered good. There is also a Premium Edition of it out too.

Hi all,

Some progress occuring, I'm working each evening on the Jagdpanzer and have started mods for mounting the Cavalier set. Some mods will be to the kit, others to the zim to accommodate kit molded detail. I'm impressed with Cavalier's product, the resin is easy to cut and sand but firm enough to hold its shape. The cast replacement components are molded directly from craftsman-modified kit parts, so you can be sure they'll fit.

Here's the rear hull mounted (my alignment isn't milimeter-perfect, but nothing on this kit is!)

Photobucket" border="0" />

The part was added with superglue, and I reinforced the back with Plastruct angle stock:

The upper hull is mostly done too, including scratchbuilding periscopes to go under the covers -- they're not the right height, but I've seen plenty that look like this on other models. More updates later.

Cheers,

Mike

a little update on the progress.dml F2/G,the vehicle is coming together quite wel as one can see.so far there have been no real fit issues.some of the smaller hull fittings, visors and such need to be added.but the heavy construction is complete.front view you can just make out the brake assemblies.hey doog, toned the screamin yellow ochre down quite a bit.this right quater view shows the suspension and tracks .lots of hand painting here now.as said earlier, the old indie links required a great deal of cleanup on each link there were two knock-outs and three to four sprue attaching points.nothing quite as good as a rear view.you can see where this ones headed with those winterketten dupes.a little top view.and last but not least my next two offerings for this G.B.

my apologies dupes for being so rough on your dial-up.i feel your pain as i use a dial-up also.peoplepc with an accelerator feature.not the greatest but 45.2 kbps will have to do.i see the photos did'nt turn out that bad and i can hear you from here wbill.that guddarn wood grained backdrop does'nt that ornery cuss ever listen to sound advice.well yes ,but you must understand we are down to 2/3rs of our normal living space as we had to remove a poorly deteriorated portion of our residence.hence no room.the living room table is my workshop currently.everyones builds look great so far.and the quality is setting a rather high standard also.Thumbs Up [tup]any comments or suggestions are also welcome.at the rate you're punching these out wingnut you will run out of room to display them. the primered hulls in the last photo are the pz4 ausf.e 3 in 1 kit,and the dragon 6166 nashorn(very likely my favorite spg/td.also with any luck i'll throw in the new brummbar mid production.thanks for looking.

Hi Everyone,

Here is the latest WIP pic of my Panzer IV Ausf J. I've used three shades of Tamiya XF-60 Dark Yellow on it.

More to come.

Cheers

The finish on the A/O isn't going as planned. I rushed the painting cycle and didn't prime the kit. Now my washes are rubbing the paint off. I'm not really even rubbing that hard either. Should I try sealing the paint before the oil wash? I've never sealed before and I haven't had a problem. I'm going to start a new kit for now. Once I get to the painting process on whatever I start I will repaint my A/O.

I firmly subscribe to Doog's washing method, so I'd go with the Dullcote.

Waiiiiit...is this CHRIS? Excellent! (for the rest of you here on the forum, Chris is one of the very few 'local' modelers around my parts I've been harassing about getting on the website, and this build in general) Let me know the make and model of your Pz.IV variant, and I'll add you to the front page! Cool [8D]

Geist - sorry to hear about your finish. I'm guessing a clearcoat would be in order...hopefully you don't have to do a complete repainting?

Detailfreak - holy cow! Missed your part about the additional builds at the end...i.e., the  pz4 ausf.e 3 in 1 kit,and the dragon 6166 nashorn! Excellent! Shooting for all 5 bars on the shoulder by the end of the year? Wink [;)]

Here is the 1/48 Panzer IV Ausf Jwith the camo pattern applied. I hope it looks better once the weathering is applied. I'll attach the turret schurtzen tomorry, and hopefully spray the pattern on that over the weekend, unless it's too hot. I've got to admit, I'm not too crash hot on the way it looks right now. But then, I never am at this stage.

Half midnight here, good night all.

I don't think I'll have to but I probably will. I wasn't very happy with the finish anyway.
