dupes - I'm very sorry to hear about your mother.  Its tough when a parent has serious health issues.  I'm hoping and praying for a quick and speedy recovery...with you at her side I'm sure she'll pull through fine.  If you need help hosting the GB let me know.  I'm willing to put in some extra time for you and our fellow Pz IV builders!   BTW, ixnay that thought on the Cpl. Overby Jagdpanzer IV....turns out its going to take a whole lot of work to clean up all the resin defects in that little bugger!  I'd rather just build the Coree kit...much nicer resin!!

On that note, I've decided to start working on the Ausf. A.  The Sd.Kfz.251/20 for the 251 Halftracks GB is on hold pending arrival of some AM parts.  I've jumped to a couple of other kits, but the resin in the Coree kit just keeps calling to me!  I'm probably going to start a complete WIP thread on this one just to document my first foray into a full resin kit!!Shock [:O]  Wish me luck!

Ernest - thanks, man. If you happen to see some questions go unanswered here in the GB by me, feel free to take them on yourself. Wink [;)] I hope to be able to stick my head in here pretty frequently (shooting for once a day!) but who knows how well that will work out.

VERY looking forward to your Ausf. A - and the WIP thread to go with it! Should be an interesting build to say the least...have you ever done a full resin build before?

Detailfreak - how many IV chassis do you have going right now???

Geist - good finish! Snag your first stripe, my friend. Time to start in on number two...Big Smile [:D]

If I missed anyone else, my apologies. Going to try to sit down and fully catch up on the thread some time soon. Thumbs Up [tup]

I will, but I'm going to work on my Tamiya Sturmtiger first. I need some time to gather AM parts for the old Tamiya Pz IV D anyway. I plan on getting some MK tracks and Eduard PE. I also have an early war Dragon crew set I plan on using as well.

Hi bufflehead.

I'm still here, keep checking in on all the progress, there are a lot of fantastic builds going on for this GB. Thanks for the kind words, the Tamiya kit is a joy to put together, nice and easy. I'm popping my Dragon cherry before I come back for stripe number 3, got Academy Panzer IV with armour, along with a set of links (another first for me).

Geist your Jagpanzer is stunning

detailfreak, I need to get myself another Nashorn, my "little 'un" is getting lonelyBig Smile [:D]

Keep up the fantastic work

Bufflehead-So far everything in the kit scares me! I keep telling myself it's just plastic. Then I look at the instructions, wow have to read these over three or four times. Can be confusing, I have to determine which version I want to build, that will ellliminate some of the steps. Still a lot of involved with this kit. Looking forward to the challenge!

My Panzer has it's shoes on now, I wanted to get some pictures before I start trashing it with weathering.  I'm planning on lots of mud for this one, so I did a general paint job on the roadwheels and tracks.

Stay tuned!

Dupes I am sorry to hear about your mother. I wiil keep you and her in mind and I hope for a quick recovery. Sorry I have not started on my DAK F1, I have been worried about the layoffs at work, so far I still have a job for now. Plus I stuck my right foot and leg through my dinning room ceiling and have been trying to fix the 2 x 2 foot hole I made. A good point is that I have  a real hooby shop in town now, the Hobbytown USA just open and tomorrow is payday. I will start my build theweek after next when I will be off work for the week just to celebrate St. Paddys Day!!! This was my wife's idea. Just wish I was going to be in Savannah Ga. Maybe  next year.

Congrats to all who have started or finished builds so far. Looks like some wonderful builds

well as i sit here pondering the whereabouts of the sprues of indie links for the nashorn i wonder if they were even in the box,me thinks they were pinched.anyway,i then realized that i hd the magic tracks from the f2/g smart kit.i figure it was fair considering the un-believable amount of clean-up on those winterketten.so heres a few photos, the first one shows how nice those tracks fit the older kit.not to shabby, also picked up an eduard photo-etch set.not for this drgon kit in particular but it works.i'm only using a few items, the mesh intake screens,mp-40 holders, extingusher bracket, and a couple of other brackets.that sink hole in front of the sprocket sure reared its ugly headalso applied some wash around the details to make them stand out a bit..hope everyone elses builds are going as smooth as mine.any comments or suggestions taken and considered.thanks everyone.

Detailfreak - those MT's look good on your Nashorn...nice when things fit like that!

So are you trying to get each build to the same stage for some sort of group-painting experience or something like that? At some point if you wouldn't mind taking a shot of all of your IV-chassis WIP's that would be cool! Cool [8D]

Oneof the bad things about finishing a GB so ealry is that you kind of forget it's there.  It has been ages since I was here. And becuase of that I have only just read about your mom dupes.  ery sorry to hear that and I hope everything turns ok for her.

It took a while to got through all teh page and builds I'v missed and all I can say is WOWSER! Awesome stuff still coming out of the build.

I'm well into construction on that KugelBlitz. For anyone else doing it,have fun with the exhaust stacks!

Also, when installing the mounts for the return rollers, pay close attention to the instructions and assume nothing.

About said instructions.I'm NOT following them when it comes to drilling holes for parts to be installed later. They aren't accurate and the parts don't match the instructions.I'll take my chances.

Another thing about this kit.Install the suspension arms before you install the stops. The instuctions have you do otherwise and it doesn't work.Unless you completely luck-out,the stops will be just a bit in the way of the arms and the wheels won't be level.

Guys:  Here's an update on my Jagdpanzer IV.  After some SERIOUS hours...and drying time, the drybrushing is done...at least for now.  Here's how she looks:

Then came the color washes: raw umber, custom dunkelgelb mix, yellow ochre, medium yellow, darkened dunkelgelb, and finally violet...yes, VIOLET:

Next I added some local/panel line and pin washes...as you'll see in the middle photo below, my decal dilemnas continue.  The "312" has flaked off...Grumpy [|(]...I have an idea to fix it though...Big Smile [:D]

more to come...

Looking awesome Steve...although those decals are becoming the bane of your existence! I think with all the time you've put into this guy, perhaps next time you should consider taking 30 minutes or so to trim all of the clear decal film from around all of the 'necessary' parts of the transfers. Whistling [:-^]

Can NOT wait to see this monster in person...your uber-drybrush technique has me most intrigued! Big Smile [:D]

dupe's haveing dramas getting pics posted onto a comp, but as soon as i can i will get some up. My Kugel is now built and painted and am now onto weathering. I am going to follow SmJ's weathering steps by the book, and see which ones i like and which i don't. though i am going to go easy with the dry brushing as i am doing a 3 colour scheme but with small patches of green and brown. So just going to dry brush with yellow.

TD4438 you might have missed them but a couple of pages back i did post a couple of things you should look out for, though you might be past that by now.

I guess I did miss it.What were they?Actually, all I have left to build is the turret.Building a bunch of simple Star Wars kits this year kinda spoiled me.I couldn't believe how long it was taking to get this kit built.Haven't started the indy links yet.

TD4438 Not sure if you have started your Kugel yet. If you have, have you run into the same issues as me. If not, heres a bit of advance warning.

I started last night and am just working on the rear of the hull. The drives for the rear idler wheels have to be built, they have 5 parts, but you use 3 different sprues, which is annoying. The holes where the exhaut's fit are surround by small raised detail. This doesn't allow the exhaust to sit flush, so i removed them. And tehres a pipe that goes in next to the left hand exhaust. I found this to close so had to remove it. I'm going to fill the small hole and put it on to the hull next to the exhaust. I'll get some pics up on Wed when i have some more done.

Are the exhausts supposed to be flush with the hull?I had no idea myself.I'd never seen this kind of exhaust set up on a Panzer IV variant.

very interesting build.i am watching one now on evilbay. is this the dragon offering? i noticed you stated something about return rollers,is the kit better or worse for accuracy? the one picture i saw showed this vehicle in ambush pattern. this must be based on the j chassis? enough questions i'll let you on with your work.looking good so far.

This is an older DML Kit.I don't know how accurate it is.I never saw this variant until I found it on GM's website.I could identify it as a Panzer IV variant,so it must be somewhat accurate at least. You have to be careful positioning the mounts for the return rollers. You could easily screw something up if you make assumptions. There are markings on the hull for positioning the mounts. Some appear to be for another variant. You could easily put them in the wrong place.
