Hey psstoff, I always manage to get seepies on canopies or any clear part! Had a few with the zimm, but fortunately it isn't a clear part so hey no problem. Anywhew, I removed the tape and this is what I got.

I'll clean the edges up and lightly sand after the hamburger is dry. Hehe.Burger [BG] I have a few spots that I need to go over again on the sides and I plan on doing that when the front plate is attached and I can blend the corners together.  Most of the reference photos I have of the Sdkfz162 have a very rough looking coat of zimm

Hey! Great texture, I like the thickness, mine was too thick on my first try, a KT, now after seeing yours I'm wondering if perhaps the StuG's got it on a little thin...

It turned out great! Thumbs Up [tup] and a quick turn around too, what did you use to mold it? Screwdriver perhaps?

But yeah, I’m scared to death of clear parts...

hey psstoff, I did use a screwdriver that I've filed to get a sharper edge on, not exactly sharp but mainly just thinner and smoother. What I find most difficult is getting a uniform thickness, I went with a larger palette knife and it worked out better than the smaller one I'd been using. It's been awhile since doing a zimm covered vehicle and the Jag has such a small silhouette and few corners it is pretty straight forward, except for the compound curves of the mantlets. They posed the biggest challenge, but with decent reference pics from the Tanks In Detail series Vol 9 which covers the Jagdpanzer series, I just followed the pattern from the photos. I liked how Dragon engineered the front plate seperate, it made doing the front really easy, unlike the Tamiya Jagdpanzer IV or Brummbar I'd done a couple of years ago.

Thanks psstoff, The screwdriver works great on the more complex shapes and in tight spots too. I managed to get the roadwheels, drive sprockets, and idlers out of the way and finished up the lower hull with zimm.  Here is a photo of the bits and pieces.

I finally finished up another GB project and will be looking forward to having more time to focus on the Jag.

Nice zim Mobius!

I scored myself the Cyberhobby Vorpanzer on deep discount.  The jury is out on whether it'll join this party...

Great looking builds everyone.

Sorry I've been away for so long. I think once I finish my current build (a SdKfz 250/11) I'll try to get back into my Pv IV D.

Thanks for the positive comments and encouragement. With the weather in the upper 70's it's getting harder to stay indoors.

Looking forward to updates from Eby Juan!

well ladies and gentleman we have allowed ourselves to slip from the front page.hopefully this update will spark a little motivation.myself ,i have been extremely busy at work.very little time left to build after twelve + hour workdays and 5 hours traveling to and from the jobsite. heres update no.1.the 3 in 1 E.not a lot of change but some p.e. and such.yes SMJ the oil stain is still there.being the second dragon 3 in 1 ive built made this one much easier, although there is much more p.e. to add.another shot(these photos were taken outdoors as you may be able to see my nieghbors aluminum house trailer in the background.any comments or suggestions welcome.

update no.2 is the brumbar mid production.finally obtained some zimmerit for this one.i must mention that this zimmerit set is from atak, and the fit is wonderful.the pieces are very thin.detail is great.although it may have gone somewhat over board as far as getting this stuff into the small areas.i just did some careful trimming.you can see in the next photos.the transmission cover is supplied as a new part with the hatches.a shot of the gun assy.some interior shots in the next brummbar update

last but not least by any means,Pz.Sfl.IVb.this kit is very nice, loads of fighting compartment stuff.based on the shortened pz.4 chassis.this vehicle was a part of the pz.artillery regiment.a rear shot gives some idea of the back of this unique pz.4.the spare road wheel clips are some of the p.e. supplied with the kit.the main gun assembly is very straight forward with only a few p.e. parts.the turret interior has much detail.well thats all the work so far.anyone who has more info on this vehicle.particularly the transmission type used.would be helpful.

Holy smokes! Detailfreak is on a roll!

Looking really good, man. Can't believe you're actually (successfully!) building three at a time. Make a Toast [#toast]

Hey Detailfreak, the Attak zimm looks great. 2 thumbs up. I've never used the Attak sets, but I've put them on my to do list. Very nice work on all the builds so far.

I fudged up the tracks on the Jag. I think I waited too long before trying to set them in place. I've ordered replacements and will be using the LR PE. It's been getting tough to find time to be at the bench with all that is going on right now. Hopefully the tracks will be in soon and progress on the PzJg will continue.

Looking forward to seeing updates from all.

Detailfreak!! Awesome!! Love it so far, looks like it will be real nice

Some oppinions for my Stug IV- I think it's going to Italy, and here's a picture my brother found, I have no idea on the pattern or the colors though, this is my best guess, yes? No?

Thanks for the help- zim's done, just need all those small parts now Thumbs Up [tup]

(made with photobuckets basic basic editing features, disregard the actual colors- that's not my version of dunkelgelb Tongue [:P], but general idea?)

The fact that those blotches appear to be of varying shades leads me to believe that they could be green AND brown - although I'm sure one could make the argument either way that they're just green or just brown (depending if you have any info on what unit this is, and any color schemes they may have tended toward).

That's a tough call on the coloring on the side skirts. My instincts tell me it's both green and red brown. Also, based on my experience, the darker shade usually indicates green, the lighter red brown. Case in point:

Hey guys, I'm finally ready to get going on my project for this build.  I'll be building a Cyber-Hobby 1/35 Pz.Beob.Wg IV Ausf. J, which is a command/artillery observation vehicle based on the Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. J.  They were typically assigned to Hummel units.  When you get a chance Dupes please update me in the roster.  Smile [:)]

Dupes, Espin- thanks for the help on this one, glad you both agree on the possibility of the three tone.

EDIT:I wasn’t looking for any unit specifics nor did I plan on replicating the exact pattern, I just wanted to make sure the possibility of such a random sprayed three tone blotch pattern would fit in Italy.

Due to the agreement, I've spent the afternoon painting my finished StuG IV

Here's a picture before the paint

Note the clear side skirts- a real cool kit included set, I guess the clear plastic was the only way Dragon could provide a realistic thickness skirt at an affordable price back in the Imperial days, although the kit did come with some etched parts (metal brackets around the “turret”)

And here's a picture as of now

Notice that my Zimm, which I thought looked thick enough prior to painting, came out a bit on the thin side for my liking, it's almost gone in some places... I think I'll be able to weather and add little items/rubble etc as I'm considering putting the StuG in an ambush/cover type position, so maybe a few well placed bricks/oil rags will take care of the bare spots.

Thanks for looking guys, this is my first 1/35 scale soft edge camo with an Airbrush, I surprised myself. Wont win any comps for sure, but doesn't look bad on the monitor IMO

Also- side note, forgot to mention, on my StuG, side skirts are not attached, just hanging like the real deal, not sure yet if I’ll glue them at the end of the build or not. StuG was primed, then base coat of Afrika Mustard, then Panzer green and red airbrushed on (Polyscale Acrylics)

Espin- nice looking kit- looking forward to seeing how that turns out, I've been wanting one of those Orange value boxes for a while, I'm thinking of their Panther II, I'd put it in a dio, only problem being it'd be a sort of "what if" 1945 Berlin defense... and what ifs usually aren't my thing.
