A little update, found some time to make it to the bench without sleeping(because of all the lost sleep worrying about my employment and that of friends and family). I've got the zimm nearly finished and test fit the upper and lower hull. It is a little out of whack, but nothing to great. I decided to go with the kit main gun and save the Jordi barrel for a Hetzer that has been sittin in the stash collecting dust. Anyweigh, just a shot of where the jag is parked.

 A shot of the Jagdpanzer

DSC_0003" border="0" />  The hull has not been fixed yet. I will add the zimm after the 2 halves have been joined. A few more tools to add to the rear deck, a muffler and spare roadwheels too. Should have this one in primer soon. I did change out the front plate for one that was included in the Brummbar kit. I liked the mg port better than the one I'd scratched. Still considering adding the muzzle brake for the main gun.

Thanks for the comments Panzer88 and psstoff. The figures are from Alpine. They're the SS tankers. I'm not too positive if the uniforms would have been issued to PzJag crews or not. They are wearing camo coveralls. I still need to add the headsets and get that gunner's backend on the deck a little better. Anywey, Thanks for checking up and the comments, both are greatly appreciated.

Still attaching the headsets to the crewman and some minor clean up.

LOL, I started the paint this morning with a preshade of Dark Brown, while I was trimming the areas on the engine deck I'd realized I'd left off the angle piece between the upper and lower rear plates. Oops, and I thought the intructions were just guidelines not actual rules. The JgdPzr is looking a bit like a genetically confused zebra now. I'll try to get photos up later. Thanks psstoff for looking in.

Mobious: Sweet work on that zim'!  I scrolled back and saw that was scratched...NICE!  I like the fig's too...great poses, they should really compliment the tank when it's done.

Thanks SMJ, I appreciate the comments and vote of confidence. The Alpine figures are nicely cast and the sculpting is superb. I'm looking forward to starting on them soon. I'm also looking to add a Falshirmjaeger on foot, but haven't located a suitable project in the stash yet. Thanks for checking in.

A shot of the JgdPz and crew. I fitted the headset/throat mikes and associated wiring. The headsets and mikes are from the Tasca German Star Antenna Set, and are worth mentioning because the Alpine figures didn't include them.

The Balkenkruez is from Archer Transfers and forms right up tight to the zimm surface with a little pressure from the finger straight to decal. The color plate of the vehicle this is based on has no vehicle ID markings or National insignia, I just opted to use artistic license and add the crosses to break up the big flat surface. The vehicle itself belonged to 9SS PzJag Abt, 9SS Pz Div, II SS Pz Kp near Arnhem Sept. of 1944.

The JgdPzIV and Crew" border="0" />

I still have clean up on the Alpine figures before I can start painting.

First off great work everybody!!!!!!!!!!!Bow [bow] I finally got access to a camera today so I've been going nuts taking pics of my projects. Here's one my projects that I've finally finished for this group build, the Panzer IV mi Schmallturm. This one almost got booted across the room on more than one occasion. I figure out/fix one problem, then there would be another waiting for me. A lot of TLC and patience, some scratch building and raiding the spares box went into this beast. Here she is.

Very nice work, Panzer88. A great job on the camo. Thumbs Up [tup] I can relate to the aggravation. The gunners headset unfastened it self and jumped to it's demise during painting. had to stop and fix that before moving on. After taking a series of shots I noticed it had worked loose again and was floating like a beenie.Propeller [8-] Your SchmallTurm PzIV turned out excellent and worth the effort, Thanks for sharing your efforts.

I nearly broke my camera taking photo's of the JgdPz crew. Didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped. Anyway here is a photo of the crew.

I'll do the shoulderboards later, I've got stuff on the JgdPz to still address.

 Progress on the JgdPz, Again.

The reference color plate depicts this vehilce with tree limbs as additional camo. After the decimation of Germany's armored force at Normandy by roving Mustangs, MilkJugs, and Spits, It was a matter of survival for German AFV crews to add supplemental camoflage. I tried something like this back in the day before PE or lazer cut paper. I was not really pleased with the results.

The Square Root" border="0" />

I began by attaching suitable limb sized pieces of a root dug from the woods out back. Some trimming and splicing were done to get the limb structure the way I wanted it. One thing worth mentioning is in this step it is best to add the tie down rope. It was a little tricky after the fact.

Variety is the Spice" border="0" />

A new item for me. I'd ordered the Voyager PE set of Maple Leaves 2, just for this project. I prepped the leaves first by painting them green with a little yellow added for variety and then painted the dark brown branch. These were then removed and shaped, then attached with CA to the root. I followed up by mixing a yellow/green and touching up any paint that had chipped during forming.

The Branch" border="0" />

Branching Out" border="0" />

In reality, this vehicle would most likely have been unrecognizable due to the extra camo, but I'm happy with the results and it doesn't detract from the main focus.

On to the Udder Side, Mooo!

Almost finished, I'll be settin this on a simple base similar to Ol'Stumpy's original, 'cept it will be a brick paved streets of Holland, instead of the split rock streets of Hungary.

Thanks for the comments psstoff, I would have liked to changed out the heads on the figures to a Hornet offering. I like the sculpting on them much better, they have more facial expressions to choose from. The supplemental camo was fun to add, especially after pruning all the trees around the bunker this spring. The zimm was also a fun addition to the build. I've done several with this method and as I've said earlier, getting an even coating is the most difficult aspect for me. I have used the Cavalier sets and had good results with them. I like the looks of the Attak offerings alot. I've also seen here on the forums exceptionally well done zimm with a soldering iron. Bottom line is there are many ways to Skin a Cat (or a PzIV), and the end results are worth the effort, IMO.  Thanks again for checking in and the positive comments, both are greatly appreciated.

Mobious: wow...I mean...WOW!!!  This baby is coming along GREAT!

I knew the fig's were going to compliment the tank and you definately didn't disaapoint, they look fantastic.  What's with the leaves? those things are friggin' AWESOME!  I never did like the bunches that the model railroad section of the LHS offers...yours are perfect.  I can see the potential for some fall colors too.  I'm sure a mini toot' would be well received by the guys who aren't following this GB, I'd sure like something to tag and print for my "techniques" folder too.  Any chance you will start a new toot' thread?

As great as this model looks all around I do have a few things I've noticed.  I doesn't appear to have any washes, and therefore seems too clean, IMO, and the zim' appears "deep" because of it.  The hatch cover is also a bit too pristine IMO..again...appears to be lack of washes.  Same issue with the tools, road wheels and tracks.  I'm not sure what look you're going for but I think a bit more weathering and wear is in order.  I read that this will be set on brick pavement so how about some dust?.  How do you plan to tie the leaves in with that setting?

Spectacular work overall Mobious, she looks great as is but I hope my input helps...I really like this oneThumbs Up [tup]!

This is dupes' BUSY season, he works an equivalent year in about 3 months!  His work is dependent on summer tourism in Maine and he needs to make the $$$ when he can.  Don't expect his usual frequency here on the forums right now but I'm sure he's definately still around...Smile [:)]
