Hey guys, the lower hull on my CH Pz.Beob.Wg. IV Ausf. J is complete as are the roadwheels and running gear.  I have a complete and thorough build log here if you're interested in a blow by blow of what I've done with this thing so far.

honestly Dupes, there may well be a dozen pieces of armor that are in various srages of completion for whatever reason.crazy?i do'nt know i guess i find peace and serenity in being constantly badgered by my wife.are'nt you going to finish those two before you start that one.   E-spins your Ausf.J is off to a good start. it appears to be moled in the same fashion as my zwischen losung.thats kit no.6082 shanghai/dragon.so i'll be watching your work and definitly reading what you have to say.

Firesmacker- Your "J" is coming along nicely.

espins- nice to see you back. I'm glad you chose that kit because I was wondering how it was. I'm working Dragon's old Ausf. J Late right now and I think they are basically the same kit but yours has the upgraded goodies.

Chris - you can't directly post a photo on FSM (they don't want to be responsible for the bandwidth). You need a photobucket-style account somewhere offsite that you can hyperlink to.

If you're using photobucket, use the IMG code, not the html code

time for another update.Dragons Ausf.E gets the sideline again. You see i just kind of sat there and scratched my melon,Karl if you read this i'm telling you i need me one of those opti-grab oh s&%! i mean opti-visor. Besides i figure it adds character to the character.Back to the matter at hand. The 10.5cm. selbsfahrlette Aus.B or something on that order.Anyway most of the final assembly is finished and tonight i sat down and hand wrapped a couple of rear fender springs. The styrene rod was perhaps a bit over scale but they'll do.The spring itself is simply a strand of speaker wire wrapped around the slightly larger diameter wire. Then the rod was cut into approx. 1" inch lengths.I glued the rod to the spring with CA ,hate the stuff, allowed the CA a chance to bond, repeat. Before gluing to the model the ends of the rod were trimmed flush one one side.Using the conveniant spring handles i attached the ends one at a time, giving the first that chance to bond, attached the other end.The ends of the handles are trimmed flush. There you are ladies and gentleman, my mini toot on the panzer IV rear fender spring.WARNING:SOME PRACTICE IS ALWAYS GOOD. The first photo the spring is trimmed and ready for paint. The second shows the handles still attached. All the onboard tools are attached with the exception off the tow cables.I really did'nt like the way they were hung on the turret. There aren't to many photo's of these vehicles so i figured i will add some extra track to uparmor the turret sides, hangs those cables where i please and such.So close! Thanks for all the kind words and comments people I appreciate them.Any comments are welcome.  p.s:think this slugger may get some whitewash.

little update on the uparmoring progress as well as some whitewash.well ok i may be headed in the wrong direction with this marking but i figured it was a fair probability.as all my refs show a few shots of this vehicle but no units that used them,i have read in a couple of refs that only 8 of these were produced.and served on the eastern front.anyone who can point the right direction please speak.i chose the 12th panzer as it was virtually wiped out at stalingrad.thus the demise of these vehicles.personally i like the way it looks in winter whitewash.

Excellent work on your 10.5cm. selbsfahrlette. I like the winter white wash, you don't see many in this scheme.

I'm looking forward to FINALLY being able to join this build sometime next week. With Marc's permission, I'd like to change my entry from Dragon's Pz. IV ausf. H to the new Dragon Jagdpanzer IV L70. This was the one kit I was looking for at AMPSEast, but didn't get. I've got one coming from Great Models, and it will be here Monday. I plan on building it OOB with kit markings and all. It should be a relative quick build, and I am REALLY looking forward to starting it!Big Smile [:D]

I'm finally getting started. And it is road wheel mania!!! 48 road wheels, 24 return rollers, 6 drive sprockets, and 6 idlers. Whew! Sanding the seems of all the wheels so nothing to post pics of. Will hopefully get started on the lower hulls this weekend. Working on Dragons aufs E, Academy's Sturmgeschutze IV and CMK's Ostwind.

Is the Sturmgeschutze an infantry support vehicle or a dedicated tank killer?

Wow, three at a time Stephen? I love it!

I believe that the non-105mm StuG's were indeed intended to be dedicated tank killers. The 105mm StuH (sturmhaubitze) was the infantry support version.

You are correct!  Originally, the StuG III was armed with the short barreled 75mm gun and they were grouped into batallions as Sturmartillerie to provide support for the infantry.  When the Germans encountered the heavily armored KV and T-34 tanks there was a desperate need to get upgunned anti-tank guns out there to deal with the menace.  So the Stug III Ausf. F/8 and G models featured longer barreled 75mm guns (several types) and were employed primarily in an anti-tank role from that point forward.  The infantry still need some direct fire support so the StuG III G was upgunned with the 105mm Howitzer which filled the gap.

I have finished one of the two aircraft i was building for GB's. But the other, a J-88, is going to have to go on hold as i am having a few problems. So i will get craking on the Ostwind when i get back to work at the end of next week.

Me neither. This like the Kubel has been in the stash for years. It doesn't look to bad a kit either, with a half decent drivers compartment. I have about 2 and a half month to build it i reckon, should be able to do it, and the dio is pretty simple so hopefully i can finish this one as a complete dio.
