Jg27 enjoyed alot of sucess in africa and early on in the med. But the allies really started to beat them up by late 43 early 44. I don't remember off the top of my head but 27 didn't start using the green reich defence band untill mid 44 some time. Untill 27 was pulled back into the reich they flew mostly old G-6's and some early G-14's. most equipted with gunboat options.

I usually get busy around this time and a knew I would not time I usually have. I'm back up to speed and should have pics up soon.  

Nicely done Mac!  SC is right about the wheels, looks like the HAsegawa instructions have it right too.  The only other thing I see is the section of antenna running between the main line and the fuselage- usually those were farther aft on the spine.  Don't recall right off hand on the G-6 which fuselage station it was near, but photos should help.  Otherwise, great job!  I updated page one for you, but I didn't list your next build there yet until I hear from you.

Now, about the charge...

Since you were building a 109 for my GB, that one is on the house!

Troy- I think you want the Mk.II, as the original Mk.I is made of the pink styro! LOL...

Very well done Aaron, I like it a lot. I also was wondering about the badge of JG27 in your earlier post. One of mine is a 27 aircraft also. I like the way your build turned out.

On my front, I have all 3 decalled now and the last two will be panell washed tonight. Heres where I am on the first one.

Should be close to done on all 3 this weekend.

I am hoping to start my K-4 sometime next week. I got an Eduard seatbelt set and decals for Christmas so I am all set.

Question about the markings on the G-6 I'm doing.

 White 7 JG51.  The one with the eyes on the gun bulges.

Does this aircraft have a yellow theatre band.

What color is the rudder?

What color is the spinner?

I am getting conflicting pictures from different sources from google.

The only references I have for "White 7" are a set of 1/32 decals from Eagle Editions and the Hasegawa 1/32 G-6 kit.  There are some subtle variations between the two of them, but I would trust the Eagle Editions decals over Hasegawa kit instructions.

Thank being said, here's the answers according to Eagle Editions.  They quote their reference on the subject as Jochen Prien and Peter Rodeike- authors of "Messerschmitt Bf 109 F, G and K".  I recall this book being near the top of Phoenix7187's list of his favorite luftwaffe reference books.

No yellow theater band

lower chin cowl and machine gun bulges RLM 04 yellow

white rudder

spinner is RLM 70 Black Green, with white section

Frank  Thanks that helps alot.  The Ministry of Small Aircraft decals I am using show a yellow rudder but I will paint mine white.

Also are the lower wing tips yellow?  They show in the instructions but not totally sure if its correct.

I checked the Hasegawa 1/32 kit instructions, and compared them again to the Eagle Editions decals.  Hasegawa shows either RLM 76 or RLM 04 (yellow) for the lower chon cowl (evidently, they are unsure of the color!)

Both show the white rudder, but neither shows yellow lower wing tips.  I would say do not paint them yellow as this goes with both.

I also checked one other reference of mine, and it also shows the white rudder, yellow lower chin cowl, and no yellow on the lower wing tips.

So, my references all agree with no lower yellow wing tips.  HTH!

Eagle Editions make no reference to one, Hasegawa kit instructions show the area immediately behind the fuselage cross to have a RLM 74 overpainting (denoting a painted-over band in that location) and the third reference of mine makes no mention of a fuselage band either.  The build-ups I have seen of that aircraft have shown both the RLM 74 overpainting and nothing there at all.  Guess it is your choice on that one.

That color profile you are describing on the G sounds familiar!

Thanks for the comments guys. The kit is a 1/48 Monogram G-10 all 3 are actually. This one is done in the all over 76 was from III/JG1. In the R/G kit it has two decal options so they are the kits decals. Most of them were ruined so I had spare crosses and stencils from a FW190 set I got from Air Master decals. I have already lost the antenna on the canopy so that and some weathering for exhaust stains and paint the guns and this one will be done. Yeah, pose the canopy open and upper belts.

The other two have now been decaled and will wash the panell lines tonight and then dullcoat and fiddly bits.

Welcome Darren, that is the same kits I am building, very nice for a cheap kit.

Aaron, the all over 76 was a high altitude fighter and thats the scheme for this one. When reading some ref books it mentioned that they used the equivelent of 100 octane fuel and as such the luftwaffe put a red marking on these aircraft, normally around the landing gear. The struts, wheel hub etc so the fuel crew knew which aircraft got the 100 octane. That gave me the excuse to do the red struts plus it looks col with the paint scheme. Ay other info from the experten on this ?.

John here is a pic I have of a G-6 with the eyeballs White 7 from JG 51 "Molders" I do not know the location or time period. The resolution is pretty good so you can enlarge it to see more of the detail. I hope it helps. I enlarged it alot and IMO the rudder is definetly white the spinner is blackgrenn and white. It also appears that a tailband has been painted over. It is hard to tell but it does look to me like the bottom of the wing tips are painted white but that is a judgement call. The lower engine cowl appears to be painted the same color as the rest of the underside to me. Agian this is just my opinion in interpreting a black and white photo. In the end it is up to you to do it the way you thing is correct.

Thanks for sharing that pic SC!  You can definately see the darker overpainting of a band around the fuse behind the cross.  I am saving that one on my 'puter.

I am WAAAAAY behind too, still working on the cockpit!   You will never build alone here I promise!  I shall be here building until the last day.  If I finish the current one, I have more to do after that.

The Revell 109G-10 that I'll be doing is a bit of a bow wow which is why it's sat in the stash so long, but at least it fits the time period perfectly with markings for JG.27 in March 1945.

I don't plan on investing in any AM gear for this one and will probably build it OOB and concentrate on the paint job.

SC Looking at your photo it does look like the lower wing tips are a different color.  I think I'll do them white to add a little color.  As far as the color of the chin.  We do know that the gun bulges were yellow.  And they look almost the same as the 76 underside in the picture I think I'll still paint the chin yellow.  And I will be doing an overspray for the theatre band.

John I think that yellow ofr the chin is the correct call.  If you look at the tiny light area bewteen the spinner and the small air scoop and on the scoop itslef, that color is lighter than the chin.  Also compare the chin to where the underside color comes up on the leading edge of the wing.  That is a great reference photo for a build. I wish I could one like that for everything I build.  Note the soft egde on the spinner section too.  Just keep looking at it and you see all kinds of stuff.

On the photo! I think the white wing tips may be there as well. Other than the soft edge spinner paint, the landing gear legs also look to be a different color than the black wheels.  Very interesting pic which I saved as well!

  I agree that the Monogram G-10 is a very nice kit. Hard to beat for the price and an excellent one to get some cool painting schemes going.

Marc, that looks more Hase than snap together, a truly stunning build.

Aaron, you have done an amazing job. Really like the dropped flaps.

Steve, loving the all 76 109. I built white 44 a few years back, as I think the monotone 109s look so cool.

I picked up my donor 109 last week from the LHS, a G-10 in the markings of White 44 strangely enough. I only picked up that one because it was the cheapest!

Resin is on order from MDC. Just need to break the back of that 110.

Glad to help John. It is nice when you have an actual photo of what you are building. It lets you decide what is in the photo and not the company doing the profile. All to often you do a build based on a color profile only to find a pic later that contradicts the profile. It really irritates me. If it is your job to do color profiles please spend a little more time and try to get the info correct. I have noticed some companies when they are not sure due to a BW photo or the info is not in the pic will tell you that this is the way they have interpreted the photo but thier are other possibilities. This gives you the chance to do the research and make the decision yourself. Glad you had the chance to build yours up as accurate as possible. Good luck with the compressor!

Frank I have not been at the work bench for almost a week! I am so far behind. I definetly going to spend some seat time this afternoon while the ball games are on and get crackin'. I do'nt want to look like a slacker!
