Been offline due to my internet provider taking three days to fix a bad connection on the pole. It seems I missed out on alot of great stuff.

Aaron the 109 looks great. We have to give you some photography lessons because i want to see all of that nice detail. Oh yeah I'm watching you MacNeal. No gimmies here! I expect perfection from you Sarge!

LOL, good one SC!  Looks like I'll be sending him the next 109.

I thought I had my G-10 all ready for paint last night, but then I realized I needed to remove the external trim tabs on the rudder.  I removed them this morning, and shot some primer on.  Just need to fill a few small tiny holes and she's ready for the paint shop!

Aaron- Are you really decalling already?  EGADS MAN, don't you ever sleep?   Those decals sound a fright, but the photos look like you've handled it well.  Well done that man!

Carlos- I like the shade, lloks just like the photos of it I have seen.  On my research of White 3, the Eagle Editions decals call for RLM 76 on the fuse but the color period photos and video to me look like the RLM 84 on the fuselage.  I finished getting her ready for paint tonight, so soon I will have to decide which color to go with.

Bit of a refresher pic - this is the Monogram G-10...the one that had some color "issues". She's a bit farther along than this (i.e., decaling started), but I don't have any updated photos yet.

Weather here looks pretty lousy for the weekend so I foresee a LOT of bench time in the next few days.

Stickpusher! That is a great camo job! You say you did that demarkation line by hand with no masking? I have been a silly putty king on this harder edged night fighting G-10!

 Fupes! Looking good! How is that halftrack coming along?  I have been using any chance I get to add weathering to mine as ideas hit me!  Really been trying to dust it up! Tone down the turtle wax finish the dull coat gave?

 Well the 109 is drying and I don't know what else to do to it. Maybe mix and blend the exhaust staining some more. I had never noticed it until watching and learning from this GB!

 Late night pics fighting the shadows and lighting! Haven't taken the time to set up a decent Photo booth yet. Been too busy building!

The big thunderbolt drop tank is odd indeed! You have to hack it up according to the instructions and add a 2mm rod to hold it in place which I did.  If this scale is all correct then the ground clearance was very VERY close in real life!  Must have been very desparate times to use such an ad-hoc contraption. This plane is marked with 30 Victories all with British Roundrals. An Ace 6 times over.  Wish there was more history given.

 Well my bench has been a busy place this last week. I'll take a last look in the daylight but I think we can call her done!

dupes- Glad to see yours back on the bench!  I started painting my G-10 today, finished up the 76 and tomorrow plan to start spraying the 74/75.

Aaron-   I thought you just started that one?   WELL DONE!!!  A fine looking 109 to be sure.  I really like the black/yellow spinner- bet it looks like a mad hornet coming at you.  I really like this one!

Aaron, its me again, poking my nose in here. I just have to say that this 109 is a stunner. The hard edged camo, the wierd underside painting, the yellow spinner, everything. Your are definately a fine convert to 109's. Id love to know more about the pilot of this beast. Is there nothing on the destructions?

That 109 IS really nice. Wow.

I put quite a bit of time in on the G-10 the past few days, and have the majority of the paint sprayed.  The aircraft I am modelling is "White 3", a G-10 that crash landed in a field at the end of the war trying to get to the American lines instead of being captured by the Soviets.  One of the reasons I chose this one, was it's rather bland appearance (my favorite subjects!) and the very heavy mottling on the fuselage.  Here she is, painted up and waiting for a clear coat!

I used handy tack to mask the wavy leading edge demarcation, and I like the way it works for this task-

That camo is looking totally awesome there Frank. I do'nt think I have seen anything like it before. I see now why you choses it. I like the unusual German camo's too.

Here is my progress up to this afternoon. Decals on, but silvering on upper wng crosses and a few stencils needs to be removed by piercing and more MicroSet. The spinner swirl is undergoing its second dose of MiroSol, so no pics of that till the major wrinkling is removed....

Frank that paint job looks right off of you tube!  I'd think you were joshing me if I didn't see the sticks with my own eyes!  Very sharp looking. An excellent addition to your collection! 

I would'nt have it any other way there MacNeal. It makes me feel safe knowing I have old Sarge looking over me!

Thanks Aaron!  I have found that having a color video of the aircraft one is building is both a blessing AND a curse!

By all means, welcome aboard!  We'd love to have you.  No need to rush, as the GB has been extneded until 7/1/09 as there are a few of us still building.  Looking forward to some progress pics!

Neu- You're really cruising with your build!  Interesting idea on the canvas wheel well areas, I'm intrigued to hear how it works.  As for photos, here's an excellent site:

The 109 Lair

The "walkaround" section has a lot of great photos, and I recall seeing a few of the area you speak of.  Good luck!

I finished adding the decals today, and they went OK 'cept for the starboard upper wing cross.  Fair amount of silvering on this one, and the fuselage crosses were as thick as duct tape.  Dozens of applications of micro sol and mr. mark softer, and they are passable now.  I had the same issue with the last 109 I built using Eagle Editions decals.  The ones on the sheet with more than one color (two-tone crosses, numbers w/ outlines, etc) are EXTREMELY thick.  I almost opted to paint the crosses, wish I had now.  Next time!

DOZENS of applications of micro-sol? I guess I didn't even realize you could do that...thought it would melt the decals eventually.

How long do you have to wait in between coats?
