Wow, Brad. that is great looking work. Love the fabrique look of the fuselage. Stunning! Very subtle.Bow [bow]

Daywalker, Luftwoller, Ruddratt, thanks for the positive comments. They mean alot coming from ones with talents such as yours! Thanks also for all the help and tips.

Luftwoller, the rigging was done with monofilament fishing line.

Ruddratt, I would recommend replacing both upper and lower booms with brass. After all the handling the extra strentgh is extra security.

Looking forward to updates from all.

Thanks Mike, you are too kind!  I am heading to my LHS today to pick up some paints to try your wood grain techniques- thanks for posting that!

Brad- Excellent work, she's absolutely stunning!  Like Mo, I am most impressed with the fabric look on the fuselage, and the decalling on the wings.  Looking forward to the next update.

Hey luftwoller, I still have nightmares from my ill fated attempts with them. If Brad keeps posting inspiring pics like these, I'll have to take another shot at them. I have to say again that is really stunning and inspiring work Brad. Very cool.Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Excellent finish Brad!  Especially with the lozenge decals you had to work with.

Mo and Brad,

Nicely done gentlemen! Thumbs Up [tup]

Here are a couple of in-progress shots of my Hansa Brandenburg W29.  First the engine...

Now with a quarter to show a reference for size...

Finally, a shot of the interior with the sides painted Humbrol Linen, and the floor done up with Model Master wood and oil paints...

Hi Everyone,

Both the Seven Swabians, and the DH2 are excellent , in my opinion. Well done to you both.

Cheers

Tony

taxtp, Thank You very much for the encouraging comments. I greatly appreciate them. The DH2 has brought up several discussions with my son because of its unusual design. I'm still trying to get him to build another aircraft model.

Guys, you've got me addicted to these aircraft kits. I'm learning a great deal from all and having fun too. Daywalker, sign me up for my second Nieuport(my first was in KOTS I). It's the Eduard 1/48 Nieuport 11 WEED built pretty much OOB. I finished it in the colors of " The Ace With the Wooden Leg" Paul Albert Pierre Tarascon. He had lost a leg in a plane crash prior to WWI. Joining the French Air Service in 1914, he saw active duty in 1915 with N31 and N3. Paul was transferred to N62 in early 1916 and by Autumn of that same year had downed 8 enemy planes and was awarded the Medaille Militaire and the Legion d'Honneur.

Another great build Mobious. Excellent photography as well. I built this plane for my father, as its his favourite WW1 plane. He didnt have a clue and was over the moon.

Great work.

Mo- Now that is a stunning Nieuport!  Tell us more! Tongue [:P]

Speaking of KOTS I, I took my Fokker E.V which I built for that GB to the IPMS Region 5 convention this weekend and it won first place in it's class.  There was some beautiful work on display there, and to be picked as the winner was unbelievable! Shock [:O]

Daywalker, That is a beautiful job on the Fokker E.V. well deserving a first place. The post in KOTS I, is the reason I want to build this aircraft. Congratulations.Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Guy, thanks for the kind comments, I was fighting with the camera and had to take several dozen pics. I've been thinking of building a model biplane or maybe a set, for my uncle who introduced me to model building when I was but a wee ladd.

Thanks again for the positive comments, and again congratulations for the first place daywalker.

Mobious, that Nieuport looks amazing! Whatever you're doing to achieve such realistic finishes, keep it up! Awesome work!

Frank, congrats on the award, my friend! Definitely well deserved! I never tire of seeing that build of yours (and I only can hope that mine turns out half as good.).

Ruddratt, the positive comments are greatly appreciated. I really had fun with this build and learned a bit. A freind and I had discussed wing construction and he graciously pointed me in the direction of some of the most beautiful pictures of the "Bebe" hanging in the MAE.

Stephen, Thank you for the positive comments. I took a look at some of the builds over on Aeroscale and WOW! Really inspirational and informative. I looked thru your Sopwith Camel and  SE5a builds and the level of detail never ceases too amaze and inspire me.

 Thanks,

 Mo

Hey Daywalker, any pics from the show? I've only attended one show and it was the 2008AMPS nationals, strictly armor though. I enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately there isn't any active chapter of either IPMS or AMPS locally.

Pfalz DIII stalled
Posted by Bobs Buckles on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 2:12 PM

The level of quality amounst you guys is outstanding. My eyes are sore from looking at all the candy on show. Well done lads.

A small update on my situation. About 3 weeks ago my office (model shop area) was broken into and mildly trashed. I really thought the Pfalz DIII would of been smashed to pieces by the scum that got in, but to my amazment the Pfalz remained unharmed (probably took pity on me - bless their little cotton socks) and in A1 shape. The intruders didn't let me off the hook, they stole my airbrush and xuron sidecutters ...WHY?!!!!!!

That, my friends, is why I haven't posted any updates in a while. But rest assured I will keep you updated  on progress once my shiny new airbrush turns up.

BTW. The guys over at britmodeller.com on hearing of my loss had a whip round and grossed enough funds to buy a better airbrush, sidecutters, spare needles, cleaner and quick release adapters. Those guys restored my faith in human kindness and I cannot thank them enough for that.

Please continue making my eyes sore... I'm inspired! Bow [bow]

Best regards,

Boooo , Bob. Bloody scumbags. Glad that the Pfalf got away scot free. A bit like the burgalars.

I have a friend who has Ex-police German shepherds. One morning he came down to the kitchen and found blood everywhere and 2 smiling shepherds. When the police were called they went straight to the local hospital and the guy was easily apprehended. There was about 1/2 pt of blood in the kitchen. The scumbag tried to have the dogs put down but to no avail LOL.

You have to laugh.

Hey Frank... congrats. Well deserved from what I can see.

It took a while but iwnet back manymany pages and there is reallynice stuff coming out of KotS II... just like  KotS I

I was actully going to build an aircraft in between armor projects... had the Camel out on the bench... and no decals.  So I started a tank againWhistling [:-^]  It pains me to buy a whole sheet of decals for tiny little camel... so if anyone has a set they don't plan to use...I can put them to good useWink [;)].
