Ah ~Ha good excuse to be MIA. Where is the Hobby Store you were  at ? What do they mainly carry ? (R/C, Plastic Models,Trains , ect)

Yes Roy it is 1/32 , I managed to wrestle it around in the booth without whacking anything. Wink [;)]

I'm still here.  Spent the day in Colorado at the hobby store.  Picked up some paint and drill bits to finish up my LONG list of projects.

Sean, is the plane 1/32 scale?

Thanks Aaron Smile [:)], I have heard lots of Good things about the Tamiya Storch. I was tempted to get one myself but I have been trying to cut back adding to the Stash. I have had this Storch for many years, It came with a Pilot and Rommel figure. Rommel looks like he spent to much time at Dunkin Donuts though.  I plan on doing the Tropical scene with the Sand upper and Black Squiglys. I need to order a New "Red " tip for my AB but my source is out of stock.

That is looking great Sean! Always wanted to try one of those. I like the 1/32 but am torn with the 1/48 Tamiya. I think both cost about the same. I always wanted to do Rommels Storch! I am pretty jealous! Tongue [:P]

Roy - Sunday has became my NME dedicated build day. I spent most of the morning cleaning off the bench to make room for the 1/32 Fieseler Storch. Got the canopy and other areas masked or blocked off. Have started painting the underside RLM 78, Wow~wee this thing takes up some paint.  Harv- your going to go broke painting all those Huge Birds you build . Wink [;)]

I like to use a combo of blacks and browns. I'm not hard-core aircraft as I build a little of everything, but it really (As the stickpusher said) depends on the color of the plane.

I have really become a fan of burnt umber for washes on most aircraft. I initially used black but it is too stark in most cases. If the aircraft has a dark finish, then I lean towards a custom mix using more black and some dark brown for a dark grimy effect. Take a look at some of my recent works to see what I mean about how Burnt Umber shows up agains a dark base color.

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

I'll try to get some pics up tommorrow of my progress, however I got a question for the aircraft builders. What's a good basic wash for an aircraft? burnt umber, black?Question [?] I never actually finished an aircraft build so I have no idea.

Sorry guys, Christmas and New Years kept me busier than expected so my V Dub has kinda taken a back-seat to my Tiger 1 which I finished for Big Cats. While I try to figure how to save my resin water job, I started in on the X-15. A while ago, I tried brush-painting it black, but the finish was covered in brush-marks and junk. Not knowing any other way to strip paint, I sanded off most of the paint. That's where I left off. The other day, I finished sanding and I sprayed a coat of Flat Blac on there. I am now decaling so it's not too far from finished! However, when sanding, I destroyed all of those raised panel lines and to disguise that, I'm gonna hang it on my ceiling where that stuff will be harder to see.

P-40 update:  I was unable to remove the wash with soap & water, so I tried thinner.  No luck with the thinner.  I ended up using Q-tips and lacquer.  Went slow for fear of causing more damage.  So far so goodSmile [:)]  It seems to be working.  As soon as Sprue Brothers get some more of the Promodeler wash in I'll give that a try.  From what I have read and heard it's fool proof.  So while I wait for supplies I will move onto another build.  Perhaps my Bf109BBig Smile [:D]

Happy New Years everyone.  I made it back last night from my travels.  We weren't supposed to come back until later today but the weather forecast for today was for more snow so we decided to come home early.  That meant no parties for us on new years eve though.

The most in the way of drinking will be a bottle of wine.  I always have unsweetened ice tea.

Thank you Sean.  I turned 47 on the 30th.  Not sure if that's good or bad.  I haven't worked on my P-40 in the last few days.  Need to get some progress done.  We have company over tonight.  My wife has fondue on the menu.  Four adults and four kids.  I should be ready for bed by 10:00Wink [;)]  but will have to stay up till a few past midnight.

Thanks again.
