Thanks fellas.I am pleased with this build.

Boba Fett,go ahead and use the story,as long as the Clone in question is nick-named 'Flightcheck'.That's what I was going to call him,but forgot to mention it.Feel free to use pics of the speeder if you need them.As long as the builder gets props.Smile [:)]

Also, the TIE's are a definate for my next SW GB.

Yea, no red. I'm thinking light camo gray with dark blue markings (in fact that's why I painted the pilot's helmet blue, to match the squadron colors). It will be an early rebel alliance ship, so it will have the same pattern of markings as the movies, but with different colors and maybe a few unique stripes here and there. The Astromec will have unique color accents too. I'm thinking gold.

My thinking is this spacecraft was pressed into combat service quickly, and they wouldn't have had much time to do complicated custom markings. Just another ship on the front lines, nothing special. I plan to wear the markings and the finish quite a bit too, like panels, sections and even wings have been replaced expediently in order to get the bird back in service.

And thus your ship looks perfect for that era. Really, that's all the rebels had before the Mon-Cal star cruisers and other large factions like the Bothans. It captures the look of a cobbled-together suit but with the pride of a person fighting for their rights. Also, You probably should paint the outside differently that red over grey. Maybe a dark gray with black markings painted by the pilot himself. Just some thoughts.

TD4438, great job on the speeder! I love the paint scheme and the creative back story.

It's funny that you say that. I had it in my head that the X-wing was going to be from the time somewhere before just episode 4. A time when the alliances were just being formed and the rebels were still fairly unorganized, perhaps operating more like small militia groups ,just given the basic weapons and sent out to independantly fend and fight as best they could.

Here's the story on this one.

 And here it is.

WOW!!! I absolutely love it! Thumbs Up [tup] This is a perfect example of what I wanted when I started the GB, something out of the ordinary! For another forum I'm in, there is a writing contest going on. Could I use your airspeeder's back-story and create a very short novel? The idea is excellent. Then you could also use it to display next to the model. Should I put down those TIE's as a definite? Also, kudos to Dmk on doing a nice job on the cockpit. The pilot now looks passable for the fighter. Also remember, Episode 4-6 was the hieght of the rebellion era, as squads prior to that were made up of what could be cobbled together in an instant. I love the fllight suit colors!

TD4438 - Yes, I do the same as Bobba suggest for spray cans. I shake for 5 min, submerge in warm to hot water for 5 min, shake again for 5 min. works like a charm. If the paint itself is old (like your dark red), you can decant the spray by spraying into a small cup using a large straw as a conduit. You can then mix your paint with some thinner and AB (or even paint brush) onto your model.

Uhhhh. I didn't suggest that.

Cosmic J - very nice job!

Finally got back to the X-wing this weekend, pretty much finished up the cockpit I think. Might add seatbelts too. Had a few glitches. My primer came out of the AB kind of dry and gave me a weird texture, but I just went with it. The canopy will be closed, so under glass I think it will just look very matte. Then after everything was together, I found out the pilot sat too high because of teh seat mods I did. I had to saw off the bottom of the seat and drop it a bit. Shoulda been more careful test fitting before painting.

Now back to mods on the astromec droid, the guns and seam work on the wings. The fit is terrible on this model and lots of mold marks. The wings aren't too fun. I dread the fuselage.

Horribly.  It was honestly a nightmare.  Details were muddy, parts lined up fine, but there was excess plastic, not exactly the same size from half to half, alot of sanding needed.  Alot of details MISSING that should be on R2
