Dave - I was wondering the same thing for Guy and Richie  . Thanks on liking the Stuka - This Airfix kit has the best fitting wings of any kit I have built so far.

I solved the problem of the resin wheels in the spats.. Most likely nothing new to you resin veterans .. I made a axle out of wire, drilled out the resin wheel and spats. I painted the wheels, after they are dry I will use some Tamiya tape and mask them over for easily tape removal.. Then I can assemble the predrilled for axle spats and sand seams and prep for paint. The resin wheels will rotate to ease in tape removal and the flat spots  end up being where they need to be

For the Bad news - This project is about to come to a screeching halt as I have no RLM 71 in my supply.

Good thing I am working on a Me 262 at the same time..

No worries Guy it had noting to do with inefficencies. The other 10% of the houses that were not burned belonged to Loyalist. One of these houses that survived the burning has been in my family since the 1950's though it has been added onto and remodeled so many time not alot of the original house exist. After I make my appearance over in blighty I full expect you to come here and visit. We'll even go up to Rhode Island and kidnap Jeremy and force him to drink British beer until he pukes!

Guy - Simple tip from a simple man... love it! Seriously... thanks for the tip. I'm definitely going to give it a try.

Jeremy, the wheels were/ are simplicity in themselves. All you do is, paint the wheels and tyres as normal, then i mix up some mud coloured pigment, making sure you dont use the same thinner (I.e if you use acrylic thinners to paint the legs, use enamels for the pigment wash) Slather the piment wash on. Allow it to dry and then using your finger tip, rub what you dont want off. Simple. Just like me.

SC - Thanks for the heads up on the "glass panel" I will keep that in mind for the next. I am sure I will be happy with what I did as Clear never looks quite right painted unless primed..

303 Enfields ... About 18 yrs ago there was a sizable cache of them found in South America. I bought a bunch - the more you buy the cheaper.. Well the purchase price was $12.50 each... Anyway , I still had 4 hidden away I had forgotten about until I moved. I gave them to my son for cleaning them up.  There is 2 -1917's, 1 -1918, and a 1942.

Just think of the history and hands that have handled these...

While I am waiting for my SM 81, I bothered myself to get caught up in various other venues.

A solid weekend of work has the two Seagulls finished for the USS San Francisco. I'll save you the "fits on a penny" shot, but these a/c are small. Tom's PE set came with one set of interplane struts, luckily two propellers, so everything else is from scratch with .010 wire.Pretty so-so.

Hans Von Hammer thank you for the paint mix, I like it.

Now, eight 5" guns.

Sean the glass panel is suppose to be there but it was usally painted over in the field. The cross is to mark the panel where the emergency first aid kit was located if you ever went down. I left the glass unpainted my 1/24 scale Stuka because it looked cool.

Jeremy you let an Enfield go! Man I'm gonna have to whip you butt for that too! I have two Finnish M39's also. They are Mosin Nagant's refined by the Finns to have a much smoother bolt action and trigger and a heavier stock. I have a scope on one of them to make target pratice a bit more fun. If you ever make it down this way we are definelty going to the range to make some noise!

Guy - That's a cool Storch... nice and big! I bet when Sean finishes his there won't be a toothpick holding it up though.  

SC - I've never hammered off a Garand... that must be nice. I've been looking for a relatively inexpensive 98k for a few years now... one with the eagle and swastika that is or even a Russian captured marked. They seem hard to find and go for quite a bit. I might settle on a Mosin Nagant from that time period as they come in and out of the gun shop (I live literally 30 seconds away) all the time with bayonet and sling for cheap money. I had an Enfield 303 when I was younger dated '44 if I remember correctly. I left it with my brother when I moved here in '96 and sadly he no longer has it.

I got the wings and tail feathers on the Stuka ! There was a window on the side of the fuse I had no idea about. All my references showed more like a panel with a red cross (first aid kit maybe) anyway I filled the hole with some styrene and puttied over it to smooth it out.  The wings fit real tight and good with no gaps.

Time to think about how to mount those resin wheels inside the spats..

Oh the Zwiller.. You liked that purchase dintcha? LOL My ultimate plan is to just use the centre section and replace the 2 fuselages with 2 Hasa offerrings. Oh yeah, and a shed load of etch for the pit.

The Chain like dangly thing, on the Storch, as you so eloquantly put it was for the Landing flaps. Hand operated.

Mine was the 1/32 Hasagawa. Like you say, it takes up a fair bit of room in the display cabinet. I think i threw a load of PE at mine as well (Really? I hear you shout) LOL,

Just think how cool it would look in Italian markings though?

Guy - What kit was that ? I have a Minnicraft/HaseG kit that has been waiting to have the black squiggles painted on it for a couple of years now. It is a real~estate monster.

Great pic of the Storch. I built one of those in 1/32. Great kit. It would be a great addition to the GB though. I read when they rescued Musso. On the take off (Downhill), the air was so thin. he was held in the Apennine Mountains, the Storch went the length of the improvised take off slope and dropped off straight down. There was mild panic amongst the rest of the rescuers untill the storch hit marginally thicker air and managed to get some lift. Ill bet that was a laugh in the cockpit LOL.

It's about an hour and a half drive for me roughly. I let you slide this time but next time I'll have to sick old Sarge on ya'! I would have loved to hear that 88 go off. You can feel it in you chest when those big high velocity guns go off. Smells like victory! If you ever make it down this way I'll let you play with my Mauser 98K and Garand at the rifle range! I better keep an eye on the postman. No wonder he has been coming at lunchtime instead of later afternoon!

Sean - If I could find the Tamiya kit for cheap (yeah right) and sneak it past the wife, I would be all for it... probably won't happen though.

SC - I feel horrible for not inviting you!  I should be punished by Cap'n Aaron's church lady.   I forget that you aren't too far away from me... I think. We went up to Stow, MA which is about 1 1/2 hour drive north from me in good ol' Foster, RI. Might be quite a hike for you... not really sure. They hold the event at the Collings Foundation on their little grass air strip and it's only $15 to see the show... twice. Once at 11am and again at 3pm. Each show was about an hour long. Also, if you have the coin, you can take a ride in their PT-17 or T-6 which buzz the airfield all day. AWESOME! I'll definitely extend an invite next year as long as it's not too far for you to drive.

Oh, sorry about the meatballs... here ya go!

P.S. - Standing twenty-five feet away from a flak 88 when it's fired is insane!
