Regia Aeronautica GB II (06/15/09 to 06/15/10)

Hey guys... got to see this today...

Maybe not RA related but it did help save Mussolini's behind once.

Got to see a WWII reenactment today... what a blast! Planes and tanks and Nazis and even an 88mm!

Lots-o-noise!

Later this week I'll try to get some video up.

I think I know now what to send Guy for Xmas. A pair of jammies so he does not scare the postman for life!

My book has arrived. This is a corker and every Italian Aircraft lover should have it,

I know some of you may already have it but its a cracker. Sorry, i just needed to get it off my chest. So many great pics ive not come accross before LOL.

You are all to kind. She make look ok in the pics but she would never stand up to any close scrutiny. The unusual colors will probally make alot of poeple miss alot of the kits shortcomings. Although I can not say I really enjoyed building this kit alot when they are this bad they force you to become a modeler and not an assembler. I just could not overlook some of the glaring errors like the exhaust manifold and spend alot of time completly replaceing and scracthbuilding a new set up.

Guy I am not sure if the gear mainly the wheels will stay in place due to the fact that they are to narrow and can only be glued to one side of the gear. I had just glued them on that is why in the pics she is sitting on the Tamiya jars. I promised Jeremy pics last night so the only way I could do it was to  take them that way. I set the plane down on its gear this morning and the wheels stayed in place but I want to give the glue more time to set up so i put her back on the paint jars for now.

Jeremy yes those are Luftwaffe colors. The ANR used Luftwaffe paints on alot of their aircraft for the short time that they were in existence.

I think I am going to start on the 262 build first then come back in a bit to start my second build. I definetely need a shake and bake Tamiya build after this one to keep my sanity! Then right back into the wonderfull world of short run kits with the Pacific Coast 1/32 Macchi C202! I am still undecided on the paint for this one so I can weigh my options while I enjoy the superior fit of a nice Tamiya kit.

Crusher- That is a sublime examble of a stunning ANR bird.  Kit troubles- phooey!   I don't believe a word of it.  You have some serious skills buddy, beautiful work on this one.

She's a beauty... definitely worth the wait! Putting all that work into it and having it come out looking so fabulous must make you feel good. Are those Luftwaffe colors on there? Whatever they are I like 'em... nice change from these wierd brown, green, and sandy colors.

Ok Crusher,  all I see is a lovely G.55 but wheres this, Dog Rough one, you promised us. All i see is a sheer spazmogorically gorgeousliness splendiferous G.55. Definately worth the wait. One question though. Dont the U/C legs have the strength to support the planes weight? , Beautifull as those tamiya Paint pots are. LOL

SC - For as much grief it caused you she sure turned out to be the "Belle of the Ball"  I am more impressed with these kind of difficult builds then "shakers" as I really enjoy seeing the creative mind work.  Fantastic job and great thinking on improvising poorly made items.

Dave - Thanks, it Keeps things interesting , besides splinter camo is a breeze to most Regia's schemes.

 Sean that Stuka is really going together fast considering your making most of the parts yourself! Why to improvise adapt and overcome adversity!

Jeremy I whish someone made the SM 84 in 1/48! Right now you would be hard pressed to find the 1/72 kit which has been OOP since AV-USK went belly up.. It is a very basic kit and it took alot of work and it has alot of ugly spots on it that I whish I had another one to do a better job on. I have never seen another built model of an SM 84 in any scale anywhere.

A little bit of dry~brudhing to highlight stuff and all will be good. Made the rudder pedals, rear seat bracket, and ammo cans in the gunner compartment from one of those "phony credit cards" that came in the mail today.

Hello lad's, The Italian Heavy Cruiser is finished. (posted over in ships)  I was looking forward to a nice easy relaxing quick build of my Regia Stuka.  So as I started to build the kit I was stunned. Part # 1 MIA ...... Well Part # 1 just happens to be the office floor.  Eh no biggie, I measured the dimensions and made a pattern out of cardstock. When happy with the pattern it was transfered to styrene.. So much for another OOB build. Somehow this is all Daves fault I am sure..

After scratching the floor I was tempted to grab the Dremel and grind off the detail on the fuse sides and rebuild from scratch.  Luckily I stepped away from the bench and re'thought that idea.. No need to get to carried away...

Jeremy, have you been over to the Stormo site and had a look at thier gallery. They have some seriously good builders over there and some fantastic subjects that ive never seen. Always worth a gander when your looking for inspiration LOL.
