Official Natural Metal Finish Group Build
Posted by vetteman42 on Sunday, April 12, 2009 7:18 PM

Rules

Any aircraft finished with foil, paint, or what ever else you use for a natural metal finish. The model should be at least 30% NMF. Any scale would be fine, prop or jet. You can use all the aftermarket stuff you would like or build  OOB. Cross overs would be fine and partial starts, cockpit started only, no air frame work done. WIP pictures are a must so we can build our skills, and they are losta fun to share. This will be a 1 year long build starting May 1 2009 and ending May 1 2010. So build 1 or 2 or more. And feel free to take a badge when you sign up, gotta give it back if you don't finish though.

The goal of the group is to have fun, build some fine looking models, and to learn something new.

I might, depending on the rules. I have a mustang scheme I want to try, but its only about 50% natural metal. The rest is green (361 FG). The long timeline is appealing.

philo, that bomber will look sweet!

That would be fine with me IL2windhawk I dont see any problem I just dont think 80 or 90% covered NMF would be acceptiable.

I use Microscale's Micro Metal foil adhesive and Renolds Wrap foil its a bunch cheaper and is easy to use.

I could be interested as long as helicopters count. I'm thinking about another H-21 in a natural metal and red, early arctic scheme. It is probably a good 70%+ bare metal.

Sorry about that......Just picked her up today.

The old Revell 1/48 scale.  Doesn't seem like much of a kit, but it's fairly big and will look nice next to the rest of my 1/48 pieces.

In fact I used your SNJ powder on this one I'm working on.

Krylon gloss black under coat, SNJ powder buffed on and a coat of Future over the top. Not bad for a no airbrush NMF.

Randy,

I'll hop in on this one. I have a Tamiya P-51D that I want to do in NMF. I have the A/M decals for a "Yellow Nose" bird. This will give me an excuse to get this thing started and done.

This was my latest and only attempt at a NMF

Can't wait to do another one.

Regards,

Jeff

You are in firesmacker and welcome. Can't wait to see your build. I am still trying to decide which of two to build for this GB. Looks like the thread will be moving over the the Group Build tomorrow. Oh my first BMF build was a P-47 bubble top also here she is.
