Smokingun Very well done !! Love the markings ya dont see those often, and the finish is perfect. Another fine build goes on the front page, we are going to have to start passing out sun glasses for those looking at the page I tell ya.
Got some sanding filling sanding polishing done on the P-38 yesterday, just about ready finally for some foil.
I did however make a grave error while waiting for putty to dry, and opened the box for my next build for the group, and did a bit of dry fitting. The fits arent bad at all, in fact I was suprised they are quite good really. There is one small problem with the kit though, but with a price tag on sale of 6 bucks I shouldnt complane too awful much. A huge lack of cockpit, landing gear, and burner detail. So if anyone has a stright up the pipe tail shot of the burner on this Jet it will be very helpful to me as there is no burner oin this kit. Also this will be my first kerosiene burner build ever !!!
The 1/48 Testors F-104C Starfighter. Markings will be from the 497th TFW from George AFB, California. The reason I chose this one is my Dad worked on some of the systems on these jets at Lockheed, and George AFB because they were so friendly there in the tower. During my first solo cross country flight I requested flight following with them, LA Center wouldnt even talk with me. Shortly after getting flight following the tower called telling me of traffic at 12 oclock, 3 miles at 3,000 ft. I spotted the traffic, 2 F-16s playing tag with eachother below and ahead of me, by the time I told the tower I had traffic in sight they were outta sight, it was a pretty sight seeing them from above. So I told the controller to send them back I wanna drop down and play tag with them in my little Cessna 152, that got a laugh. A few minutes later I get another call for traffic, 12 oclock at 3 miles, and 3,000ft. This time there were 5 F-16s playing tag, before I could call traffic in sight the controler called and asked if I had any of them in my sights, told him yeah right they are gone already.
