                        I screwed up big time. I accidently busted the right side headlight guard on my M4. Most of the small pieces wound up dissappearing into that wandering Black Hole underneath my workbench. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?
                        Teaches me a lesson about "leaving well enough alone". I was just trying to make it look a little better, and since my hands are bigger than my brain... Well we're all familar with this story, aren't we?

                        this is the italeri m1 kit in 1/72... there is another one of these kits in the group build which looks really good built pretty much oob.
                        since u have a m32 kit in 1/35, u have an idea of how much work i have ahead !
                        still gotta scratchbuild a turret, for starters...
                        well, 'one bird at a time' will eventually get it finished (i hope) !

                        Frosty! Looks really fine! I'm amazed at what you can do in such a small scale.. put that thing in the MOMA! Just one easy suggestion (before sending it to the MOMA) paint the fighting compartment floor and tool boxes gray or OD... I think they were gray oringinally... may be wrong. Again, very, very nice!

                        Latch... I want a BARV too! That is tooooo cool! I have to get to Beltring to see the real thing one of these years.

                        Took a look at the site... Wow! Robert, great work!

                        Haven't had a chance to work for the past few days or so... maybe Saturday!

                        Chris your M10 with Audie Murphy looks great. I see you got his carbine on the back but I didn't see a field phone. Did you get one in there and I just missed seeing it? The snow looks excellent tell me again how you did it. ( I'm to lazy to go back and look )

                        Digger your Firefly looks good and you did it in record time I think.

                        Frosty what can I say but WOW you've got a lot of nice detail in such a small package, good job.

                        Update: As soon as I put on an antenna and find someone to take some pics ( looks like that will happen on Mar 5th ) I'm done.

                        Frosty's kit is 1/72 ... which makes her build even more incredible.

                        Rich - you have just about answered your own questions ... they were tied on with ropes, wire, or hung by straps. Most Shermans have a few tie down points located on the turret or some tankers even welded a piece of rod on here and there to tie things to.

                        Hey Gang all those shermies are looking good. My progress slowed down a little due to a busy weekend and getting sick. but I think I am almost done. I know,,, I know I said that about a week or 2 ago but this time I really believe I am. Should have post soon.

                        Oh one quick Question for who ever can answer it. How did the tankers attach equipment to the turret? I realize that they most likely tied it with rope or maybe even commo wire. I geuss what my true question is is What would you people reccomend for putting stuff like rucks and helmets on the sides of the turret? the directions just basically say glue them but I really dont want to do it that way. Doesn't seem very realistic.

                        Bill - Formations product is only carried through their company I believe .... but since they're in the States, shouldn't be a problem. Their product is great according to everyone who has laid hands on some of it.

                        I was wondering if any of you guys may have a good photo of how the wading trunks were attached to a sherman. A friend of mine is getting his ref material together to start on a M4A3 Okinawa landing with the trunks and I was hoping to find something on here for him.

                        nmayhew, yeah, sadly, there are almost always mistakes on even the best kits. That's why what you're doing, asking questions, is so important. It's like anything else, one answer results in another question! Also, like Robert stated, the stowage was increased in the Firefly, this means that instead of the bow gunner's seat, there was an ammo rack installed.... that pretty much explains all the extra steel track welded to the fronts of Fireflys! Lucky they had such a good weapon on board.

                        My final word on my engine compartment doors and covers. After a bit more research and finding more photos of radial engined Sherman types in original paint, I've come to these conclusions: Back deck covers: White inside .. EXCEPT the one over the air intake (under the turret bustle) which was OD. Back access doors... white inside.
                        I'd imagine the one over the air intake was OD because daily maintenance required oiling the clutch throw-out bearings. The rear overhang hid the back doors... I guess.

                        that's what i had read, but was surprised to see the position "functional" in the dragon kit; it never ceases to disappoint how these kind of mistakes always crop up in what you'd consider a mainstream kit.Disapprove [V]

                        Nick - the co-driver position was eliminated on Fireflies to increase the storage of ammunition for the 17 pounder. That also included the elimination of the bow machine gun position. It was covered over by a plate. The applique armour was applied to some but not all fireflies. This pic should help a bit.

                        i'm doing the dragon firefly Vc and plan to do the northamptonshire yeomanry version, and am not sure whether or not it should have the mg position on the front glacis plate. the accurate armour upgrade shows pics of an upgraded model where both driver and and mg positions are protected by extra applique armour; the only thing is this would actually cover the mg port, and it looks like it's just gone in the pic but i can't tell.
                        bit stumped at the moment.Disapprove [V]
