Ga-modler - the tracks that you have with that kit are all steel tracks. No rubber pads at all. The way I do them is to paint the entire track gun metal, then drybrush a little rust on them, and then drybrush some steel on the to highlight. Then I burnsih the track with pencil lead and finally dust it with pastels chalks.

hey DR.shermie got a question about the tracks for the m4a4 sherman that i am building for the group build. what color should that sorta looks like a c that runs across the pad? should it be bare metal or a rust color. i have started on the tracks with the painting and stuff. i know the pad should be black or a rubber color and the guide teeth a metal color. but stumped on that part.Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

QUOTE: Bill - congrats again on the 4th star .....

Thanks, General Sherman!

I sent you an e-mail, but incase you didn't get it...can you please tell me the color of the little boxes that go on the rear hull on that bracket I was having trouble with before? I'm not sure if they are spare vision blocks or what. Also, What is the color of the little bottle shaped things that go on the rear hull reight behind the lifting brackets? I think they are fire extinguishers.

Thanks, again.

I've finished my Italeri Priest Kangaroo. Ron's sight is down right now , but I'm e-mailing my pics to Robert to put in the group sight. This has been great fun and I'm looking forward to seeing all the finished Shermys. This is only my third armor project, and I'm aware that I'm not in the same class as all you Masters, but I sure have felt welcome here, Thank You ALL.

As far as I know, it was red lead primer. Some of the former Massey-Harris assembly line workers I talked to said they recall hulls and turrets arriving painted red.

Ron.

poniatowski
thanks for thatSmile [:)]
so if i primed my sherman, would a colour like the greman red-brown (which i use as their red oxide primer) be a close enough fit? or should i use something different?

Wow, thanks everyone for the nice comments! !

Yeah, I kinda got caught up with it

I added the applique because it seemed harder to find pics without than with it. It took a couple of tries to get it right.

F.Y.I......... I used an instruction set from Dragon's M4A4 rocket to get the location but it wasn't the same as what I found in reference pics. ( Had to rip 'em off and start again) Then, I used the pieces from the kit as a pattern - but the size was wrong - had to redo that. In the end it was trial and error - cut a piece step back - see if it looked right.

Bill - The barrel was Eduards - yeah, it's a nice unit

Thanks again - glad to be a part of this

Build22 - Great job Jim ..... you've really made a silk purse out of a sow's ear with this build. I've had my share of fun with that old MP hull.

Ga.modler - I hope the camera turns up for you .... we all are looking forward to seeing your pics.

Bill - congrats again on the 4th star ..... don't O.D. on O.D. this weekend.

Dan your Isherman looks great

Build yours is cominging along nicely

Well no work on mine yesterday. It looks like all I have to do is finish putting my track together, paint and weather then arrange everything on the base and I'm done.
That should take just about 4 weeks.

I'm getting jealous, I haven't had much time to do any serious build work, and I was hoping to be able to do so this weekend, but I have to deliver a job upstate this weekend. Ah well, I live through you guys.

The builds are looking good.

Build, Looks Great! That's one heck of a bustle stowage system there! That crew had some creativity. I approve!

Bill, Enjoy the weekend!

I should also have some work time coming up also. Have been doing interior painting (somewhat boring) and 'weathering'. I'll try to take a digital camera home to photo some more.

See you all next week!

well ladies and gents the priest is finally done. but now i have a slight problem. as you know i loaned my neice my digatal camera for a school project i found out yesterday afternoon that she has missed placed it or lost it. that was the one thing i was worried about her loosing that camera. if she does find it i will take a few shots of it and post it on rons site and i will email shemie 4 of them for the group site and along with the essay for the group build. you know i havent done a essay in over 22 years. as for the m4a4 shermie with 60lp rocket its coming along nicley and its time for the indy tracks if you hear a loud shout of cussing its just me.Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]
