Abrams,

I'll see what I can dig up this weekend. I seem to remember some photos in obscure sources... Hull photos. Got it.

The 'bow gunner's ' compartment is like the Sherman's without any bow gun... duh. There is a radio mounted next to him in the sponson (moved from the bustle of the Sherman) gives him something to do when he's not giving the driver advice on driving.

Like I said, Robert put me onto it in a thread about Stuarts. I just downloaded a bunch of photos of Matilda interiors... thinking of putting my old 1st issue Tamiya kit back in the shop and building up its interior.

Also, got a digital still camera for this weekend, so I hope to be able to download some photos on Monday.

Great site, Ron. I wish I would have had it when I was working on my PZII. I bought a resin engine for it from Tank Workshops, but could never sure just exactly where it went, or what the (needed to be scratched) aircleaners looked like. Thanks again.

..........i know i can talk to y'all ...anyway...the first model i bought as a yut...was a panther...so i got an-other today..panther ausf.D/ausf.A 1/72 revell (the indi-tracks are concerning me)...so i'm gonna jump in the panther build...unless this one doesnt qualify...only cause the hobby shop didnt have another dyno 1/72 sherm for me the run with..and i love workin on the m4 but i got to have another plastic box in da-house...and i'm sure all of you ...are over there too...so there....figured i wanted to say it here ...first.....c'mon weekend.....jeffl

I know how you feel, I took a break on the M10 last night and did a hasegawa 1/72 m3 Lee, I just finished weathering it this afternoon. a good little break it was.

Quick question for you, Sherm

Machine gun mount on the turret of a firefly.....
I remember you were talking to Renarts about it - didn't say where it was - either in front or back. The Accurate Armor upgrade kit shows only one in the back. Dragon model kits show one in the front.

Is there something to it or is it just different interpetations ?

I know it shouldn't matter either way, just curious

Hoping someone out there can help me,,,, The Tamiya Sherman I am Building has raised numbers on the front of each suspension arm and on top of the hull. My imeadiate inclination is to sand them off,, but wanted to check before I did to make sure that maybe they did belong there. If they dont belong there,, seems like some really odd places to put those things.

those are casting numbers, that are cast onto the (1/1) vehicles by each casting company. Don't sand them off!! Ron posted a pic of one (1/1 vehicle showing the casting numbers. i'll dig it up.

Rich - Abrams is bang on the money, some models don't have them on and we'll spend many an hour trying to put them there .... Right Mike !!!! ?????

Build22 - both are correct because the turret hatch actually turns on the real beast.

Thanks Chris and Rob. Thats why I asked,, I wasn't sure and wanted to ask before I did sand them off. Its a good thing to because I wasn't sure how I was going to get the ones on the suspension off anyhow. I could see it now come March 15th you all would have been saying "great model Rich but where are the casting marks that where on that model" Dohhhh

I've got the T48 that's the one with the rubber chevron on it.
Mine have sink holes on the flat side but not all of them , less then half and not real deep, so I just tried to put those ones where they wouldn't be seen. On the other side a couple of them have a little raised bump inside the "V" of the chevron, again I just grouped them together and put them where they wouldn't be seen.
I did have a little problem installing them. The top run would separate, what a pain in the neck tring to get them bact together without taking them off.
I only need 77 track blocks for my Sherman which got me wondering if I did something wrong. Shock [:O]

Overall they look great just very time consuming.

well, I got my tracks today, lots of little parts.... T51s the box says one part is optional, could somebody tell me what that part is? It looks like I don't need it for oddballs sherman.

I also got the Dragon track today so that settles the diorama Big Smile [:D]

US tracks had optional parts during WWII. They were called duck bills or something like that and were put on the end of tracks to help in the mud. Don't know if that is what you were talking about. Sorry if it's not.

OK, I got my camera and got it working with my Computer. It's just a cheap "Point and Shoot" so any close up resaluation will be blurry. But I think you will get the jest of the photo's. Here are 4:

Trevor - not necessarily .... there is some small differences in each company's kits

They are AFV Club and I think they are the duck bills

Been alittle busy yesterday and today. Got the tracks on and most of the small parts are done. Still not sure of myself in my attempts at weathering though. Banged Head [banghead]
