My Sherm is coming along nicely. major construction done, sponsons filled etc. Added cheek armour with squadron green and will be doing some minor additions on the exhaust deflectors.
Pics tomorow (I hope).

well, I just watched the movie again and it seems oddball has chevron tracks, it was one of the others that had the flat rubber tracks.

I guess I need to get another Sherman to use the tracks on Wink [;)]

I have all the goodies on execpt the barrel [waiting on the CORRECT barrelOops [oops]
turned the thing over and now need to go and get some sheet to fill in that big hole

Just to show that I have been making SLOW progress.

Here's one side of the resin tracks.

They aren't bad, it just takes a little while heating them, putting them on, getting close, heating them again, putting them on again, getting a little closer again.......you get the picture.

Dostacos - yup .... those be duckbills .... sorry to hear to ended up with the wrong set though ... oh well, an excuse to build another Shermie.

Bob - that things getting filthier by the minute .... I really like it now. Just a note on your tracks, being that they are from Italeri, they tend to be extremely stiff and will ride up like a cheap pair of underwear. On your roo, they are doing just that, the tracks should be glued down to the top of the skids on the suspension units.

Derek - look forward to seeing some pics

Latch - that baby looks great !!!!

Thanks everyone.

So far all the work I've seen on the posts is top notch. Great job everyone.

I just got done with the tracks on the other side.

Now for a primer coat to make sure the upper hull casting doesn't have any pin holes, and then I get to tackle the little bits. Unfortunately there are a LOT of little bits!

Well I am not sorry, It DOES give me an excuse for another build. I look at it this way, this is my first build in 30 years, first with weathering and I am using it for practice.

I will do a Sherman with all the goodies, tracks, interior PE stuff, barrel up graded boogies etc. and "fire for effect" AFTER I get some more kits under my belt.

All the tanks look good!
Added the fuel canisters, spare bogies, tools and tarp on rear shelf.
Unfortunately, I am progressing slowly with the tracks. Hopefully I'll be done
before the due date. Big Smile [:D]

hi guys,Smile [:)]
only opened my box last night!![:0] and boy do i have a job ahead of me with dragon's firefly!!

shermanfreak, remember a while back you pointed me in the right direction regarding vinyl tracks so i didn't have to do dragon's indi links? well i got them but they are different to the kit "chevron links"...they have a raised bit on the underside but it is just a straight line...the box says they are for the firefly but i'm worried i've got the wrong ones!Black Eye [B)]Disapprove [V] good job i noticed so soon eh?Sigh [sigh]
also, what colour should my (british) firefly be? just the usual faded OD?

would be great if you guys could help me out.

everyone's pics that i have seen look fantastic by the way,Bow [bow]

nick

RAF,

They aren't RHPS, they are the resin tracks that came with the kit. They aren't bad. Just have to use some different techniques working with them.

Well, my son did an all day (10 hours ish) and has most all the little parts on the hull and has all the suspension done.

We are waiting on some styrene to fill in the sponsons and my barrel should be ready for some paint for next weekendTongue [:P]

Dan - you make me want to drag out my M50 and get going on it .... looks great !!!!
Gotta luv dem tracks !!!!

Nick - no sweat .... you now have the 3-bar cleat style of track for your Firelfy so you're good to go. O.D. is fine or Bronze Green is you have it .... either one. If you're using Tamiya colours - XF-61 Dark Green of XF-62 Olive Drab

Ga.modler .... M4A4, not M4A3. Look forward to seeing the Priest and posting the final pics to the Group page.

No kidding Nick .... but it is a little dated .... by about 4 or 5 days.

On the bright side .... I think Moscow was warmer than it was here at the time.

Anyone have any decent pics of the rack that hangs off the back of my M4A3. I've seen them used for ammo boxes and jerry-cans (if that helps to explain what I'm talking about). If I can get that rack situated properly, I'll be adding the base coat on the main hull tonight and detailing the turret and .50 cal. this week.

BTW - I'm working during the Super Bowl.

Wow, looking at all the great progress pics really tells me that I am late. I tried to finish mine yesterday but I got too excited with the Firefly that I spent hours just looking inside the box, he-he-he. Well, this is what I got so far:

I'll get back on it this evening.Wink [;)]
