You can never trust the newspaper, but the local paper said the airframe separated in flight, quoted from someone from Minter Field.  Goss was from the town I live in.  Sad to lose him.

Daddy1 I really like the name Tantrum for the F-82R that gets my vote. Just seems to fit twin snarling fire breathing Griffon engines in that airframe.

The Warlock was the first air racer I walked up to in the pits at Reno the first time I went. I didn't meet Al Goss but talked with a couple of his crew, very friendly people they were. As were most all the crew members I had the privilege of meeting there. I get NTSB reports and will be watching them, but it usually takes close to a year for them to make a final finding. Hope they don't take that long on this one.

Guys thought I would let you know we lost one of our Air Race drivers today near Bakersfield California. Al Goss and another man went down in his AT-6F Warlock today at about 11:30am. Here is a link to the story.

http://www.kget.com/news/local/story/UPDATE-Local-air-race-champ-and-another-man/QHxOGOgIiku50-6qLyDxmg.cspx

My condolences go out to his family and friends and I wish him clear blue skies.

It always hurts to lose someone as passionate about flying as Goss.  Makes me think of the Air Force Hymn; Lord, Guard and Guide the Men Who Fly.

Thanks for the link ,Randy. Watched all the news on the crash. Would be interesting to know what went wrong, because Warlock really scattered itself across that field.

 On to a lighter note,

simpilot34-  RB-82, Red Baron II, I do like that ,Richie. Have been batting around a few names including Tantrum, Intimidator, Stars & Stripes, plus a few others. Depending on paint scheme and primary sponsor. Your idea is definitely going to be considered.

jmabx- Jeremy ,nice job on the Pete. Sporty little airplaneYes.

Randy- Looking good . Those wing tips turned out fineBig Smile. Glad my idea worked for you. Fairly easy to do and looks cool.

Fermis- Love the paint scheme. The street rodder side of me has always loved flames. A hot rod Eagle, coolBow Down.

I have a  punch set ordered through Micro-Mark to make a custom IP for my F-82. Should arrive in a week , then I can get to building the cockpit. Getting over this slump and back to carving plastic and cement fumes. Feels good.

WOW!!! It's been a while since I've trolled these waters. Some great stuff, all around!!!!!

Been a long time since I made mention of this one, but I finally mustered up the gumption to get at it.

This was the old revellogram F-15C that I had built a long time ago. It was either the can or a redo. Perfect candidate for a "fantasy" racer. I had sanded it down and closed her all up, trimmed the wings a bit, and finally got some paint slung on her.

Now, I'll let it sit for a day or two for the paint to cure, then do the NMF around the tail, decals, clearcoat.

Ok guys time for a WIP update on my slow build Miss America. Got all excited an stuff thinking the canopy is going on so I should be painting soon. Big Smile Whats this ???Surprise The canopy doesnt fit well ?

Looks like I will need to do some more filling and sanding there. I tried shimming the canopy up some but that just made things worse it seems so ..........

Guess I need to make another trip to the beauty supply for some more files. The underside of Miss america came out well though no more filling to do there.

Jmabx wow ! Now that's one sweet looking Pete ! The extra effort on those engine parts paid off in a big way. Over all a very nice build, ya dun good Jeremy Toast. Isn't it something how these simple little kits can turn into so much work. Your build will be on the front page shortly.

Good clean build, Jeremy, but the addition of the engine really makes it interesting,  Nice!

It's Pete!

I could have done a little better job by being patient and a little more careful and maybe adding some more detail but I was too excited to finish him off. I'm out of super glue so the rigging stopped with the top wing but I'm happy with it.

Almost a quick and easy build. Wink

I hope you all like it! Beer

One more update for this weekend.

Those Pegaso decals I was so worried about performed beautifully. They were very thin but didn't break and only required about 15 seconds in warm water before they were ready to rock. I'm impressed. Might be a few wrinkles but that's because I got some Microsol on them right now.

I'm already thinking about what the next one will be. I mean, we have until September, right? Whistling

This is a set I've been playing with with in MS Paint..

Don't like the yellow, so fergit that one.. The one with the white outline ended up looking pink to me once scaled down to 1/48th... I'm rather partial to # 1... The artwork of the front T-6 canopy is kinda crude, but about the best I can do with it.. The pilot-text in Old English was unreadable in 8, which is what size I needed to fit the canopy...
