Aaron-you go guy!  Gonna be a challenge, but I think that you can do it in a weekend.  Of course, I'm going to be buying some coffee bean futures 'cause you're not going to have any time to sleep....

Motorize the Optivisor??? That would be cool!

I'm excited and am starting to line up supplies. I haven't  figured out a schedule yet, but with two kits I'll be busy the whole time.

I am tempted to build an Academy 1/72 Corsair.  Let's see - it's a good build (I hope), I have the instructions, and it's one colour finish!

I agree with Frank- windows read dark. How about painting your NATO black on the inside, then mask clear on the outside before the exterior paint.

Buddy- Tamiya NATO black is actually a very dark green, and I think using it for the windows and a very dark gray (scale black) for the rest of the plane would look very good.  Some pure black on panel lines and such to break it up, and I think it would be perfect! Big Smile [:D]  Just myMy 2 cents [2c].

A belated Happy Birthday Frank!

I could a little guidance from the players gallery (hopefully the two stroke penalty won't be assessed).  One of the options for the AC-130 is an all black bird.  The kit has no pit detail so I was planning on painting the cockpit and other glass black.  If I do the black scheme, I want something to break up the monotony.  What color should I do the glass?  Was thinking silver, but that might be to contrasty.  How bout a silver blue or a light blue like on those overpriced solid wood desktop models?  Any thoughts?  Was planning on using the Tamiya NATO Black spray bomb for the overall color and it is a very, very, very dark gray, so a pure black might work as well.

Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.

Bob- I really hope it gets better very soon!  That has to be a very stressful situation.  I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you. Smile [:)]

Aaron- Gee Whiz!  Poor Frank now has one foot in the grave.  Wait!  That's me! Shock [:O]

Dave- You're already 40?  You sure don't look it.  Must be that good Canadian beer.

Ahhh,,, those were the days.  I vaguely remember turning 40.  So young, so full of energy.  Life seemed so simple then... the days before colesterol tests, rectal examinations, before the need for reading glasses or 10X optivisors.  Enjoy Frank.  It's all down hill from 40.  Wink [;)]

Cuz it's his and he isn't in the 30 something age bracket anymore!

Frank will be celebrating wildly today fer sure. Word has it Bondo spiked his geritol and ensure. Dave has made room for the partiers o sleep it off to I hear in his own hobby room!  What a guy!

Yeah...I was a child of the 60's and although I remember the Rat Fink & Big Daddy Roth models, I was drawn more to the drag racing kits.  A box of plastic, a tube of glue & some bottles of paint (maybe a spray can if I was lucky) and I was good for a whole day....my problem now is that the perfectionist in me is trying to figure out if I have time to strip the chrome, prime, add clear coats, etc. to my choice.  Also I found out that I have a social gathering to attend on the evening of the 14th so I'll have to allocate that time for 'paint curing'.

What's a sh1tty stick? Do you use it to stir the cr4p?

Hey Bob growing up in California in the 50's, although hey every place had it's car culture then, I loved Rat Fink and Big Daddy models. Nothing like a pair of big lumpy looking chrome plated plastic valve covers. Well yeah, there was the box of Playboys in old man Burkes' unlocked garage...

Used to go out with a buddy and each buy a car model on a rainy day and put it together in an afternoon. There was a great strip in Mad Magazine one time, the two kids with their crew cuts and braces are slapping together a pair of CanAm cars. Hey I'm done! sez one.

Howduduthat?

Didn't use these! (holds up a handful of sprues).

I really DIG as we used to say, weekend GBs because it is like those times. Gotta take a Fanta break, with cookies you know. Cool [8D]

Just compared to Xratcrylix XA1004 RAF Dark Sea Grey BS638.  XF-53 is the right sort of mix, but a bit too light.  XF-24 is too 'green', and too dark, but, I'd say 3/5 XF-53 and 2/5 XF-24 should be about right.

I'll mix some of this up and spray it through the airbrush, see how it looks. Wink [;)]Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks Dave.  You're right-it's not fun.  All kinds of time, but no desire to work with plastic since mid-July.

I am getting some call backs....finally.  And an interview or two.  I'm hopeful that something will open up soon.

Whistling [:-^]...not sure if I'm going to go the 'Rat Rod' route.  I'm waiting to see if I find employment prior to the 13th-if so, I'll probably hit my LHS.  If not, it will be something out of the stash-either a 1968 Mustang Cobra Jet-Tasca Ford drag car, a 1969 Chevy Nova built as a drag car (both kits are Revell 1/25th) or a '49 Mercury done up as a 'Rat Rod'-AMT 1/25th scale.  Hopefully I will decide before the 12th.....

Good luck with the job search, Bob. This has definitely been the "year of the stash" for YT.

Humbrol 164 if you are so inclined. Dries real fast when cut with lacquer thinner, an important issue in this GB. That makes it flat, though.

Wouldn't you know, I just found out we are going to a dinner dance that Saturday night! Have to schedule the paint drying part 1 for then.
