Sir! I'm trying to not be one of those guys that changes their mind seven times before the GB starts - so am still holding off on the final decision for our kits. Got the pair of 1/72 Harriers, also a pair of 1/35 Tamiya Quad Flak guns (although I took a look at the sprues - lots and lots of ejector pin marks on those old molds). Going to the last show of the fall on Sunday (Granitecon in NH) - if something fun jumps out at me there might be a third option...otherwise, you'll have a decision soon! Big Smile [:D]

Only one month to go!

(I'd better start cleaning up my work area)

Well, I open the bag for the Shinden, and it looks reasonable, think I can figure out all the parts...  Being Japanese, and of a Japanese subject, I reckon it should fi together fairly well.  The 262 could be fun though!  The cars could take too long I suspect - so the Shinden Kai it is!  Thanks everyone for your input.  Can't wait to see the vacformers trying to build something in 28 hours.  Should be a good GB!

My first thought was to really test myself and do a vac kit.  But 48 hours would give no time to sit and ponder though and I need to sit and ponder stuff while building vac kits.

Osher, my vote would be for the Shinden! Thumbs Up [tup] I'm doing the old Tamiya one so it would be nice to compare.  Besides, who needs instructiions?  Are we not men?  Wink [;)]

Second choice would be the 1/144 avia.  Those are nice little kits to build.  But then I'm nt much of a car guy so I don't know how to compare them.

Osher,

If it was me, I would either go with one of the cars or the Eduard Albatros...

Personally, I wouldn't build a kit with no insturctions for a weekend build, because if something goes wrong (not saying it will, but if it does), then it could take a lot of work to correct it. Not trying to put you of it, but it might be easier to do a kit with the instructions for this, as you are already pressed for time...

And as for the Me-262... Well, thats up to you...

And biplanes aren't that scary Wink [;)]

Hope this helps...

Wow, some of you guys are nuts - in the nicest way! Build a Mach 2 or a Contrails kit, in 48 hours?  Heck, would take me that long just to build the cockpit!  Or longer...  Still, I've been following the thread, and I'm really excited!  As for me, I've decided not open a fresh box, so, it's got to be one that's been open, put into a storage box (ex.ice cream or Chinese box), but not started.  The choices:

Revell Germany Ferrari F-50.  I did cut the body off the sprue, but not cleaned the cut, so, just about accepable.

Revell America AC Shelby Cobra

Eduard 1/72 Albatross (cut the sprues, to fit into the Chinese delivery container), but left everything on the spruces)

Eduard 1/144 Avia S-92 (ME-262) - if I did, might do it in Israeli colours.

1/72 Hasegawa Shinden Kei - bagged, but no box or instructions, bought as a 2nd hard bargain.

So chaps, any suggestions as to which kit (or, indeed, kits) to use?  Bit nervous about the Albatross, as never completed a biplane yet!

Ok cool, thx for having me.   It seems I should be able to get the kit, so put me down for a 1/144 Contrails 757.  Ill do it up as  "Ed Force One".  If I cant get it for some reason then Ill decide on something else.

You won't be short of rivets to count on that kit!Shock [:O]

This sounds fun.  Got a question though are resin kits allowed?  If so I know what Id like to do, if I can score the kit in time.  Otherwise guess Ill do something from the stash, maybe a Cubana 154m. Either way it will be 1/144 and a airliner.

Roy, hope all goes well with the strip down of the P-40 and please post pics here of your progress.  So are you changing your build to a V-2 as well?  If so, beware the wrath of the over-acheivers like Aaron.  Wink [;)]

Buddy, I have to agree with you.  WAAAAAAYYYYY to much info!  Laugh [(-D]

Shock [:O] Oh boy now I have gone and done it! Blush [:I] Poor Frank. Dave I think the beating stick would seem like a vacation after all that. No wonder it takes him so long to paint! I fully understand the V-2 fixation now after looking at the general shape of it. Black Eye [B)]

Roy try that simple green to strip the paint soak it for a day or so in straight stuff. Works just as good as oven cleaner and won't fume out the house or burn your skin. Sean turned me on to that!

Karl the Dora has me plum beat I am shamed! Ashamed [*^_^*]

Guy!  I don't think I can beat that record!

Where is Bondo now?  He has got me all riled up!  So I guess I shall have to put words into his mouth! (again) , " Aaron you should really heed the warning lables on your medication when it states alcohol may intensify the effects" Whistling [:-^]Alien [alien]

Sorry Bill and all, hope I wasn't to much of a grouch.

Just got finished talking to two Army Recruiters with my boy. Man it makes me feel pretty old on top of all the feelings that go along with that.

Haligan  please tell Frank I promise to be nice if you let him come play with us again! Please?

Aaron, I have yet to finish the P-40 from the last Weekend GB.  I was working on it a few days ago and decided to try what Frank does very well and strip the paint and start over.
