Coach Crusher--- It is reassuring to know you are here if I need you.  This build is going sooooo much smoother than the DoR III build.

Richie & Darren--- Thanks for the paint tip for the prop.  I will repaint.

All--- One thing I have noticed about GBs is that posting frequent WIPs lets you catch mistakes before they become difficult or impossible to fix.  An example is the cockpit of my bird.  After posting the other day, I realized  the sills were not right.  I needed remove some excess material from the resin pour of the side panels.  If the wings had been on, that would have been a difficult and messy operation.  But, I was able to pop the cockpit interior out, remove the offending resin and now the office now looks right.    I will post more pics this weekend.

OK Darren sorry I'm later but Daywalker told me he would not ship me anymore free Me 109 kits unless I did him 190 GB first!

I am going to throw my hat in the ring with the 1/48 Hasegawa Me 109 E-3. I decided Priller's marking have been done enough so I am doing red 1 the first option on the decal sheet so put me down on the first page if you would my good man.

Great looking work Hugh Yes.  I agree with Richie on the prop, TAM Black-Green mixed to taste with flat black does nicely.  I think from memory I use about a 50/50 ratio.

Great progress guys!!!! These builds are top notch!!!!Toast

Steve, looking forward to seeing the aerial floaty thing coming together!!!!!Toast

Clebode, the paints varied so much you really can't be too picky IMHO. Looks fine to me. I used Tam XF-27 Black Green and added a few drops of XF-1 Flat Black, probably got it a bit too dark but still enough contrast to the other colors to say it ain't completely black. HTHYes

Steve--That's a neat looking flying boat.  Great choice!!

All---The fuze is closed.  Also, in honor of Daywalker Frank I painted the prop and spinner.  My reference said the prop should be RLM70.  My color chart said one part Tamiya olive drab and one part kahki.(T#s 62 & 49)  Does this sound right?  Seem too light to me.

Hey fellas I am now just getting cleared from other GB's and ready to start building here. I have been watching all the progress and builds and some great looking builds going on, very impressive indeed. I will be doing a Do 24 and if time permits finish off my Hasegawa 1/32 Me 109e. Heres the kit im building

I broke some sprue and laid down some paint on the interior so it has begun.

Thanks fellas, I'm glad you like her so far.

Darren, Hugh I removed the filler cap when I deconstructed, just something to add at the end.

Ritchie thanks for the kind words, I had the roundels on and although I sealed them I obviously hadn't done it very well and some over enthusiastic weathering ripped half off on one side Bang Head

Cheers...

Excellent work fellas!!!!! Looking forward to seeing them completed!!!!Toast

Ju-88 in 1/72???? AWESOME!!!! For the greenhouse let me tell you about a technique I saw on a DVD with Geoff Illsley. He used a 1/48 Bf-109 canopy for the demo but it can easily be used on ANY canopy or transparency. He simply masked in one direction at a time. Did the cross framesshot the interior and then exterior colors in very light coats to avoid paint build up, then de-masked and then went lengthways with the tape and shot interior and exterior colors again, de-masked and it was done!!!! I saw that and just said,' Well that makes ANY greenhouse look ALOT easier to paint!!!! Now I can't wait to try it, as I didn't get the DVD until after I had done the greenhouse on my Jake!!!Bang Head C'est la vie!!! HTH!!Yes

Simpilot: I wish I'd thought of that! I'm going to have to give that a whirl next time I do a greenhouse canopy.

B-17: Great looking cockpit!

Spike: Wow, she looks great! Sorry about your earlier problems but she looks fantastic now.

Clebode

B17---Your office looks fantastic.  Did Tamiya supply those trim wheels?  I may have to work on mine more.

No, those are from the Eduard detail set #49-205

Progress update:  got the fuselodge buttoned up and the wings together, adding the details from Eduard into the wing.  Pics to follow.

Hugh & B17- Great work on your cockpits guys, really top notch work!

Spike- That paint work is gorgeous, wow!!!

Darren and Simpilot- The nose glazing and lower gondola will be stolen from an Italeri Ju 88A-4 and I've got the Eduard mask so those will be covered.  The AMT and Italeri kits seem to be identical dimensionally so the masks may even work for some parts of the upper greenhouse as well (if I'm lucky).  So worst case I have to do the upper greenhouse, shouldn't be too bad.

All---I was thoroughly embarrassed to see what a terrible photo of my IP I posted yesterday.  Ick!  It certainly didn't reveal the full effect of Mike's technique.  I have reshot and reposted so the IP is at least in focus.  Embarrassed

Mike---The Spit is magnificent.  Are you posing her with the fuel cap open and hanging?  The FSM BoB special edition showed a Bf109 with that detail.

B17 and Clebode (can I call you Hugh), fantastic work on the cockpits, keep it up Yes

As promised here are a few pics of my very slow progress, I tend to model in a very haphazard manner so this still needs a few touch ups, flats coats etc and I need to sort the under wing roundels coz I had an accident.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers...

Here's the cockpit:

Mike---That bid is outstanding.  Thanks again for the advice on how to tackle the Hasagawa IP.  I am very pleased with the result on my 109.

All--- Office work today.  Opted for a True Detail upgrade and I found the product outstanding.  However, I did not use the TD IP.  The gauges were too small for the Hasegawa decals and Mike' technique was too good to pass up.  Here are the pics:

Once I get the belts installed I'll be ready to close the fuze.

Darren, change of plans on my entries, I'm cancelling the Trumpy 109E-3.  I'll be doing two Tamiya 1/72 Emils and converting a 1/72 AMT Ju 88C-6 into a Ju 88A-1.  Thanks!

Well, Thursday when I got the mail there was good news, a package from Eduard!  The bad news, rather than the "J" sprue for a 1/32 109 (the canopy section I've been waiting for) I got a "J" sprue for a 1/48 Bf 110.  Hmm   Well, they tried.  Another email sent, we'll see what happens.  In the meantime here's what she looks like, just a few odds and ends to take care if and when the new canopy arrives.
