Thanks Mobious! Yes

 Gamera:

Great guns Jeremy!!!

Remind me not to get in front of you.

Remind me not to let you behind me!!! A duel in the skies perhaps? Wink

As you can see I just had the Spit washed and waxed, please no hot German lead bolloxing my shiny new paint Wink

The flaws aren't obvious unless you look closely. I specialize in 'three foot models' so I'm going to let it slide here. A contest judge would kill me on it though.

Thanks!

The camo looks good on the Spit Gamera and I really like the panel shading. I don't see the these paint flaws you speak of.

Remind me not to get in front of you.

Pre-decal photos of my little Spit...

There are a few flaws in the paint but I'm hoping they won't show too much when she's finished. I really don't feel like repainting the whole durn thing.....

Hey Nomad, the canopy looks great. Good luck with the masking, that's something I cringe at.

Jmbax, very nice work on the MG muzzles. They really look fantastic hollowed out.

 Looking forward to updates

I've been kinda lazy with the Messerschmitt but I managed to try something I've never done before. I hollowed out the gun barrells with an Xacto knife. It probably could have come out better but I'm pretty pleased with the effect.

Coming together nicely Nomad! I cringe everytime I see a vac canopy... they're like Kryptonite to me. Big Smile Looks like you had to do some work to it but it's on there and ready to go. Nice job!

Hey everyone!  Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement on the Anson project. Wink I got alot done and would like to show you more. Got the vacuform canopy glued on I had to do major sugery to put it on but am pleased with how it turned out. I cant believe that people built vacuform kits I dont think that would be for me. Bow Down  Jeremy I am a 109 fan and love the colors on that one It will be a nice plane when finished. Toast

now I have to mask all those windows Stick out tongue

Hey guys, sorry for the absence but I ended up with some big paint chips while removing the masking from my model, got disgruntled, and had to walk away for a little while.

Jeremy- fantastic Bf-109, great mottling, cool looking white nose, great everything! Looks like you're almost done!

Nomad- the Anson looks great, can't wait to see her done.

Stik- you're making me want to find one of those great old classic kits and super detail it. Looking forward to more pics.

Sim- I've thought about doing the same thing, the modern Swedish 'plain jane' grey is just dull. But I've never worked up the guts to actually do it. I don't think it would be hard- just tedious and annoying. If I did it I'd find some good over head plans for the camo, blow it up to scale on a photo-copier and then cut out the masking to attach to the model or use the plans for a template for either frisket film or Tamiya tape. If you go ahead please post a WIP as I'd really like to see it. Good luck!

Jeremy the nose bits are looking great!! Not your average 109 colors and i really like it!!!

Off Topic I had been kicking an idea around for many years now and finally have reached a point with my skills that I think i will try something I haven't seen before in any scale. Somebody can shoot a pic too me if I am wrong btw. Here's the plan. I recently bought an old Hasegawa 1/72 Viggen (any ideas yet?) and have always loved the look of that plane in the Swedish splinter camo. Was looking at pics of a few yesterday and thinking bout them in between work breaks and I believe I have come up with a technique that seems good in theory to hopefully pull it off(pardon the pun) I would call it Progressive masking. Same principle of doing painted on national markings but not on top of each other. Does this sound mad or intriguing????

Thanks Mike! If I get any overspray when painting like that, I'll give a it a quick wet sanding with some 800 grit. Just a light rubbing with the sandpaper and it all goes away. Yes

Darson - Thanks! I thought the scheme was pretty attractive too ! Here's the nose colors...

Mobious - Thanks for the props on the masking job! Beer Like I mentioned above, if I get those darned paint ridges, I give it a light wet sanding with the 800 grit. Takes 'em right down.

Checking in on the GB, Everythings looking very nice.

Jmabx, the masking looks awesome. Nice crisp edges and no ridges.

Satch, a fine job on white 13. Looking very good.

Nomad, big difference in the scratch built turret vs. stock, and yes the stock one does look like R2-D2. Nice detail work on an unusual subject.

 Keep posting updates

Nomad, good luck with the Vac form turret I'm sure it will turn out looking magnificent.

You probably already know this I'm sure, but better safe than sorry.  You can make vac form canopies a lot easier to handle by filling them with Blu Tack to give them some extra structure.

Jeremy the whole paint scheme is turning out to be a real ey catcher, nice job.  By the way what color is the spinner on that 109?

Cheers

Jeremy the mottle came out great, cant see any over spray and the decals have really brought it all together very nicely. Great nose....

Cheers...

Jeremy I like that paint job. enjoying everones WIP pics Smile For me life going way fast and build time a little slow. I rebuilt the gun turret on the Avro Anson. I have two of these kits and you can see in the pic a big difference in the kit vs, scratch one. The Falcon vacuform canopy looks better but it is paper thin I cant mask it so I will try 1/32" chartpac tape for the frame and leave it black. hope you all like my work so far.  Wink

Jeremy I saw a pic on the cover of Restored Warbirds, an Air Progress Magazine special YEARS ago that had a relatively close view of the nose of an Emil with a yellow nose and distinctly remember seeing the stencils on the yellow. After all, they are stencils, they can quickly be reapplied where pertinent information is needed. HTH!Yes btw she is really looking good now!!!!!! Getting her own personality now!!

Thanks everyone... she's starting to look good. Beer

I put on the decals and I'm doing the stenciling now but I'm not sure if the white areas should have the stencils or not. In other words, would the white have been sprayed over the stenciling? I would appreciate any help on the matter. Cool

Sorry to be posting so much but i've been moving right along here. Mottle is on and while I'm not completely happy with it, I like it enough to leave it alone. Looks about right and that's good enough for me. Wink

I really like the white.

Would love to see them side by side in person.  Then again mine would probably pale in comparison.  Great job so far!

I don't know Satch... that's a great looking Messerschmitt you have there. Yes  I definitely like the 70/02 combo better.

Thanks for the compliments guys! Embarrassed  I'm not the greatest at it, but painting is my favorite part of the build.

 satch_ip:

Jeremy, is that 70/02 over 65 or 71/02 over 65?

It's 71/02 Satch. The 71 looks alot darker over 02 but when its under 70 it looks really light... deceiving. Hmm

Beer

I used MM enamel 70/02 on the wings.  It must be the lighting in our photography or the digital cameras themselves.

I assume the light color is the 02.  it must be the lighting but your 02 looks much more tan than my 02 does.  What brand of paints are you using?

It's Model Master enamel. I thought I was just seeing things or maybe used the wrong color but when I compared it to the landing gear legs and guts of a few of my German birds, it's the same color. Maybe the MM enamels are off... I figured more of a grey-green color. I know that my PollyScale acrylic RLM colors are off compared to the MM enamel RLM colors, so I try and stick to one brand of paint per build.
