Has the deadline been extended?

If so then I might be able to fit Oskar Boecsh's Fw-190A8/R2 in this build.

Don't do it though, I don't even have the kit lol.Smile

Geez Mo, you're really moving on this one!  Great work so far.  Wing root looks especially good- well done!

Smoothed the wingroot MG door's. That's some tough sanding with sandpaper.

[View:/themes/fsm/utility/DSC_0038:550:0]

Drilled the MG's and that little scoop forward of the supercharger intake. Shot a coat of primer on it.

Hope to have paint on this one by the weekend if all goes well.

Mo- No problem buddy, I don't worry too much about those technicalities!  By all means, I would love to see Barkhorn's JG 6 ride.  Funny... I just received a autographed photo of Barkhorn in the mail I bought online for my collection.  That, and the book I am reading right now by Helmut Lipfert of JG.52 mentions Barkhorn's name quite a bit.  I suddenly feel an urge to build one of his mounts as well...

Hey Frank, I was hoping to build Barkhorn's JG/6 ride. Don't know if JG6 would technically qualify as "Home Defense" unit, as they fought mainly on the Eastern front.  I do have options of an aircraft from JG301 with HD bands.

Randy -- great choice! That's the same kit I built and I really want to do the famous Black 10 one of these days too, as soon as I can find another example of this kit on eBay. She builds very cleanly, you'll fairly rip through it compared to the ICM MiG. Yep, RLM-79 is the base colour. Can't wait to see her go together!

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Randy, awesome scheme on that one love it....I used MM RLM 79 on my 109G recently and had to lighten it with some white to get the right shade...MM have the right colour but under that sun it faded quickly....

Looking forward to seeing some WIP pics buddyYes

Randy- You got it, RLM 79 would be the right color.  The bottoms of those Tropical planes were RLM 78, and the green splotches are RLM 80.  Hope that helps!

Daywalker my 190 is on the bench and the airbrush is ready to paint the pit and gear bay in the morning, bout time huh. Got finished pics of my MiG build up so now its full speed ahead on this one.

I want to do something a bit different so I think I will build this one a 2./SG4, in Northern Italy 1944 in tropical camo. I havent been able to find the correct color but made a guess, I don't really want to be mixing my own colors, and am trying to get away from Tamiya paints as base colors. Anyway I figured I would ask the experts here if Model Master SANDGELB RLM  79 would be the correct color to use as the base. Here's a picture from the box of what it looks like.

I think is a cool looking paint scheme

Julez72

Frank, so mine is the 22nd finished for this group and i find myself wondering what the record is for completed builds in a GB...Any thoughts???

You know, I have wondering the very same thing!  The most I have had in any of the group builds was 35.  Those were from the Knights of the Sky II GB.

Mo- Great news!  Glad that your stickers are on their way.  Which bird are you doing?

dupes- PICS!  WE NEED PICS!!! Stick out tongue

Randy- No worries my friend!  I haven't made any progress lately on my F-86 for the NMF II GB either! Embarrassed

Mike, Hugh.. Thanks gents i'm glad you like her....

Mike, For panel lines i use water colour pencils, you know the ones the kids use to colour in a pic and then go over with a wet paintbrush, i break open the pencil and crush the pigment into powder before mixing with water...

Frank, I was looking for a set from Eagle Editions. I've put in a commit @ Sprue Brothers for the set I'm looking for and will get an email when they are available.

More great looking 190's everyone!
