We seem to have left it quite open-ended... The original host, White R-34, seems to have dropped off the radar somewhat, but we builders kept going, so not at all sure what the official situation is.

You know, I'm not sure if there is...! There must be, probably back at the start... Looking forward to the Tiran-5, what kit are you using? I would love to do Trumpeter's, but I'm on the lookout for a complete replacement wheel set as they tooled raised divisions between the moulding blocks of each tire, instead of recessed, and I am NOT filing my way round that lot... I've researched it several times but have yet to spot wheels that looks quite like those, if I'm mistaken I'd love to be set right!

There's a badge somewhere...... but I'll be dipped if I can find it, and I've done two models for this (and the "first") GB.....three if I count the "super".

It seems to have taken on a life of its own! Big Smile
I have to go digging, as I could have sworn there was a badge somewhere. Hmm

hmmm, I think I have the "2010" version here as well.  Maybe it's time I performed a re-fit anyway, as it seems like we'll be carrying on for awhile yet!

waynec, I recommend you jump right in -- the original host dropped off the radar quite a while ago but we have just carried on building!

On my own front, LuckyModel have finally shipped the sheet of IsraDecals I ordered in May (they sure took some time sourcing stock!) so I'll be able to finish off the Merk II I started for IDF 1 over three years ago!

thanks guys. that explains no response from him. i am coming off a local contest and did well so i am ready to start some new kits. i finished the ACADEMY 1/48 MERKAVA. ok kit more like a snap together but someone gave it to be and i figured it would be a quick build for a contest category.

just started the AFV CLUB IDF SHO'T KAL for this and force of nature GBs (wull be from barak (lightening) bde.

in my idf stash i have an M-50, 2 M-51s, SHO'T, M-38 JEEP , JEEP w/ 106mm RR, OH-13 HELO  TIRAN-6 and some ww2 british and some idf tank crews and infantry. my arab/soviet stash is twice as big.

but i digress. decided to start with the turret to be different. got the 2 halves, bottom, and gun mantlet done but it was weird and i had to pull it apart and redo it with cya. waiting for putty to dry on the seams.

WHAT COOLOR DO YOU USE FOR IF '67 AND '73. i understand '56 was still od. i have every color acrylic MM and POLYS around. my MERKAVA is MMA idf armor sand gray but i herad it's discontinued. i don't want to mix paints as yet.

hree is the MERKAVA. it looks better in the pics than in real life. the "decals" are actually stickers.

it is the trumpeter Ti-67 ( which, as you know, is not an officail or unofficiak IDF designation)

Wayne -- Great to have you aboard! On colours, this is the mixing guide I use:

idfmodelling.free.fr/article01.html

I used MM Acryl "Israeli Sand" on the M-51 I did a while back -- check back in the thread and you'll find it. It was a glossy mustard yellow and absolutely nothing like it should be. I used the 1973 mixing guide from that site and resprayed the model, and was very happy with the result. I also used their recommendation for the 1982 shade on the Merkava 1 I did earlier this year and am again very happy with the result.

Would love to do that Tiran kit -- when I find a T-54/55 replacement wheel set, I will!

Cheers, Mike/TB379

lol, Well, I've got another kit to throw at this "GB that never dies" later in the winter, will keep watching to see how everyone is doing but won't have anything to really show at this point. (Yes, I'm eyeballs-deep in GBs right now!)

hi vance

me too. i started "competing" last year and i forgot to factor in the contest season this fall so i have been building all over the place outside of GBs and finishing up some shelf queens quite successfully. and NATs is up the road next year so i will be doing some larger kits for that.

hi mike

printed out the page. thanks. looks like MMA dirt may be a tad dark compared w/ MMA idf armor sand gray out of the bottle so i may be mixing. given i have every MMA and polyS paint labeled "sand" or light tan i may get something close. weathering powders will lighten or darken to some extent. and a DIRTY WHITE wash on all upper surfaces makes a nice effect. (see zvezda T-34/85 in armor).

ordered AM mantlet covers for both SHO'Ts. boy are they hard to find. luckymodel had the best price but didn't want to wait that long onn this order. usually it isn't a problem.

started my SHO'T KAL (barak bde, golan '73). the rubber tires are annoying and it is not clear how they go on but looking at books and other builds helped with that. picked up a pair of vinyl gun mantlet covers, have a SHO'T in the IDF stash. and i have 6 bottles of MMA idf armor sand gray en route. the poly parts for the wheels just aren't going to work but glueing the wheels on isn't a problem. ANY COMMENTS ABOUT USING THE 2010+ GB PICTURE?

SHO'T KAL BARAK (lightening) BDE IDF golan heights '73.

the barak bde did not have the side skirts attached which gives a whole different look to a CENTURION.

PS i modified the GB graphic.

Sorry every one for not getting back on here the finish the rounds I started so may years ago. I'm am now a type 1 diabetic and I have had some problems with getting of my super low blood suger and my stays at the hospital. I'm now getting back to work on commission projects and my own projects. An now looking over that GB pach, I like it an "waynec" if the ending date were to be moved up to 2013. I thing it would be or can be re-used.

Oh and I to have an AFV SHO'T KAL, but I'l looking at a full year of work building it in to a Nagmachon used in Lebanon and Gaza in 1996. The type with the large armor housing. But for this GB I'd like to finish one of my on-going builds If that's ok with your all?

Hi there, White -- sorry to hear of your illnesses, they are most certainly serious and I'm sure you have the sympathy of everyone on the list.

We basically kept on building for the fun of it -- I completed an old Tamiya Merk 1. I am in fact finally finishing the Merk II I started for IDF 1 a looong time ago, with Isradecals and woven metal tow cables.

sorry to here about your illness. glad you can pick up building again. here is the 2013 badge.

thanks for the complement. it's brush painted (don't ask). also, along with my dozen or so in progress i stated aan M38c jeep w/ 106mm RR that will be israeli so that fits with the 2013 GB if in fact this is a new GB. if not i will just build it anyway

Funny to see this one still "alive", kind of like the bad guy in a B movie.
