Helo: As far as I know the interiors of all tanks and AFVs are painted white, buff, or some light shade to improve visibility inside the vehicle. The insides of the hatchs are painted the same shade as the exterior of the vehicle- leaving them white would make them stand out as a target.

I've organized my Korean War stash....

With the Armor builds I'm thinking of placing the M26 Pershing tank on the Dragon Wagon transporter as well as the M4 Sherman on the M19 Transporter and the British Churchill VII on the back of the Scammell Transporter , with the T-34 recovery tank towing the T-34/85 .

I'll be decaling for the rest of today and tomorrow ...

I'm more than happy with my paint finish on the first 6 Korean War builds ,

Last night I puttied the seams on the PBM Mariner fuselage and wing edges along with the two PB-1W , AEW Fortress birds the two F4U-4B corsair fuselage and wings are ready to glue together as well as the Airfix P-80 shooting Star ; So everything is going quite well .

Nice work thus far to all.  I have got a little bit assembled on the HRS-2.  I will attempt to paint something tonight.  I don't have a whole lot of room on the bench. This 1/48 B-1 takes up  a lot of space.

Helo, you have more kits in you Korean War stash than I do in my entire stash.  You get a lot of good work done quickly.  I was also watching your H-34 fleet build in the Helicopter forum too.  Fantastic work sir

Hey Guys, finally got the part to fix my airbush!  Gary, the owner of my LHS (Hill Country Hobby) came through for me big time.  He had a new Testors sprayer that he wasn't using, so he gave it to me.  It had the part I needed, of course, but even have a nice little sprayer too.  I am going to try it out with some future.  I am hoping to get the black on my Corsair tomorrow a.m..

While I was at the Hobby Shop, I picked up the Airfix Mig 15.  What a nice little kit for only $7.65.  Thanks for showing us John.  The squigley line camo NK machine looks real cool.  It will be good practice for me, as I have to do squigley lines on my Dragon Ju-88G6 when I build it.

Holy crap John, you really are a one-man GB!  Most impressive.

Thanks everyone for the comments!  The lower hull is finished, as well as the suspension and tracks.  I also thinned the fenders down as thin as possible, then held them in near-boiling water while pushing various blunt objects against them to give them the characteristic dents I see in most photos of the type.  She's really starting to look like a tank now!

I have a question for all the "Corsair Experts" ; Italeri's F4U-4B Corsair instructions aren't all that clear when it comes to the engine placement

Does the engine sit with the two larger cylinder's at the top , I'm think it probably does but I would like to find out for sure before I glue them both in ???

John it should go like it shows in the instructions. Those two big protrusions in a 'V' at the top, those are the magnetos. Here's a pic of a real one.

There are a couple more issue's with Italeri's 1/72 F4U-4B Corsair's , It's the first time I've only had to use masking tape to hold the aircraft pieces together after glueing , I did use a couple of aligator/metal clips on the external fuel tank and 500lb bombs ; So I thought everything was going really well ...

However there does seem to be a problem with the wings not being in line with the rest of the aircraft .

Siting the corsair on her nose and linning up the tail fin and tail planes with the grid markings on my cutting mat , the starboard wing sits much higher than the port wing ???

I've checked and re-checked the fuselage to make sure everything is sitting correctly , the underside of the wing and fuselage are nice and flush , so I think it might be an error with the kit wings ?

I'm not sure at this stage if this might affect the landing gear stance , has anyone else had a similar problem like this before ...

OOOOOOOOOOO didn't notice that before!!!!!!!!! I haven't attached my wings yet. Will take careful notice of that when I do, soon!!!! Was going to start my Me-163 next, finish my 190 and then get back to my Corsair, but I think I will have to pull th eCorsair out and investigate!!!! Thank you very much for the heads up John!!!

I thought I might try this to see if it would work...

I ran a small bead of hobby glue along the top of the wing/fuselage join and then using some 3M blue masking tape attatched to the bottom of the left wing and pulled very tightly to lift the wing to the same height/position as the right wing . I'll leave her overnight and check in the morning . I think it might work ?

I must say , I'm greatly relieved this actually worked ! . I'm sure I probably read about doing this to fix wing alignments sometime in the past and the memory must have kicked in , I'm certainly not that smart enough to have invented the idea myself . Anyway back to decalling the first 6 birds .

GAHHH!!! RAGE!!!! started decals on my corsair and blow me but the big stars on the wings snapped and crumbled while i was applying them. The backing paper on these decals is closer to cardboard than paper. im looking at AM decals now. any suggestions?

Hannants in the UK have some Eagle Strike decals in 1/48 for Korean War F4U-4B Corsair ...

Mike, what do you need in decals?  I've got the kit decals since I'm using AM if you just need the stars.  I've got some other -4B too.

Going to paint tomorrow.  I did get some bits done today.

All the builds are looking great.  The T-26 is one impressive looking tank!

I'm not quite sure what Mach 2 had in mind with the engine cowl on their PBM-5 Mariner and the way it sits on to the front of the wing , Its not exactly a neat fit onto the extension piece ;

I decided to cut with a razor blade [carefully] all the individual little cowl flaps , there is probably a proper term for them , I just dont know what to call them , sorry ;

I wrapped some masking tape around the hobby pliers , so as not to mark the plastic and carefully plied the "cowl flaps" out a little bit . The cowl definatly sits a lot better on the extension piece and probably looks a bit better too .

Cheers for the support guys. i pretty much need a full set. the only decal i could salvage was ONE of the jolly roger flags for the nose. all the rest kinda went to poo. Im waiting to hear back from gordon at sprue brothers for an insurance claim for lost mail so depending on what happens i might  order some from there.

Hello, I finally painted my F4U black!  I am on the downhill side finally.  So far, so good.  I even managed to get a little bit done on some other projects.

I was watching a movie yesterday, while modeling.  It had a line in it:  "you learn to play a better game, you have to play better players".  Certainly makes sense in the modeling world.  I have certainly gotten a lot of help from you "better players".  Thanks again. Tomorrow,  I am going on a 48hours stint at work, so no progress for a few days.

Nice work greg. heres where im at, heres where im stopping till i get some decals.

Ok so the first photo shows how transparent the paint is, thats at 2 coats. Its not the best paint work. colours slightly off. its a bit lumpy. but this kit has kinda fought me since day 1.

Last photo shows the only decal i managed to salvage.

John the correct term for the cowl flaps is exactly that, cowl flaps. Nice touch btw!!!

John- Great idea on the cowl flaps, worked a treat!  Those planes are some of the coolest amphibians, just something about them.

Mike- Too bad about those decals!  Sorry to hear that she is fighting you so badly.

Great work so far, all. I've been away from the bench for the last many weeks doing Summer stuff with the family. I've missed out on about 10 pages worth of work here...hope to get started on by Sabre in a few weeks....after the kiddies go back to school.

Looks like we'll have our own fighter group of Corsairs!
