Not what I thought I'd be working on over the holiday weekend, but all my schedule allowed for (and prompted by holiday deadlines for certain internet auction deadlines):
These are several different efforts to waterline some hard-to-find 1:700 scale submarine classes:
Front to back in the group shot:
Pit Road 1:700 SSN 571 Nautilus, the first-nuclear powered submarine. At the time of this shot, unpainted. Currently painted, Future-d and awaiting decals.
Pit Road 1:700 USN SSG Grayback with Regulus 2 missile. Served 40 WESTPAC deterence patrols from late 1950s - 1964. Later a special forces transport sub. This kit came pre-painted, and was waterlined with a razor saw, then minor assembly..
Pit Road 1:700 USN SSG Grayback with Regulus 1 missile. Same as above.
Takara 1:700 Soviet Whiskey Long Bin SSG Missile submarines. Modified from Whiskey-class diesel-powered patrol submarines, to carry 4 nuclear missiles. According to reports, rather unstable vessels, and quickly retired from service, replaced by the Juliet class in the Soviet fleet.
Takara 1:700 XXI U-boat.
Here are two closer shots of the SSG submarines:
Plus I got my workbench cleaned up, the airbrush cleaned up, and dropped $50 at the local hobby shop getting read for the ships I committed to in this build. Hope all had a great Thanksgiving!
