I have been nickel and diming work on my Graf Spee over the past copuple weeks getting in and half hour or hour here and there.Anyways all amin painting is done at this point with the exception of washes on the superstructures, and touch ups on light FLAK and railings on the hull, and a few fiddly bits. Construction is nearing completion...

cut my finger this afternoon,x-blade got me. was able to work on the client's Oriskany island and starboard. started work on Hancock and wasn't careful. photos of CVA-34.

Stik:  She is looking very nice.  Glad you got paint cracking worked out, I cant even tell.

Raider:  I know the feal mate, been having computer issues so i have been doing alot of stuff at work, am i supposed to be eeeehhh not really!!!  haha but my computer at home is better now.  Oh if your looking for a new digital camera i just bought an Olympus the thing is water proof, shock proof, and its like 14 mega pixels i think, its been awsome havnt really used it much but I'm going to Mexico coming up in June for my honey moon so i hope to put it to the test.  Just thought i would recomend it if your looking into buying a new one.  Any ways Good luck!!!

A successful day for completing fixing up last week's mess up on the painting. Sanded down the original white a bit, applied another coat of white yesterday, and repeated the sand/paint today. Results are much better. If you look very closely some crackle texture can be seen, but overall, not too bad... I also began camo painting of of the Arado float plane, and finished detail painting and assembly of the motor launches.

and here is a shot with nearly everything in place (but not glued on) alongside for scale comparison a 1/350 SSN (USS Chicago) that I am working on for another GB here.

B17:  WOW!!!  I love carriers and what your doing its just awsome!!!  thats a lot of work to cut all the wings and fold them but you have done awsome!!!  You must have bought additional air craft for the kit who's kit's did you use???

 

Thanks!  I bought Trumpeter's EA-6B, SH-60 Seahawk, and E-2 Hawkeye kits to beek up the airwing.  The F-14, F/A-18, A-6, and S-3 all came from the Enterprise kit.  I did add the refueling probe on the A-6s, using the one off the EA-6Bs as a guide.

Very nice!!!  I love doing these small planes that come with the kits!!  They allways kick my but and give me a huge challenge!!

Yea nice Subs!!  Looking at them makes me want to watch "The Hunt for red October" !!!  Nice Job.

Great Boats!

I finished two more subs.  The USS Thresher and the USS Los Angeles.

USS Thresher (OKB Grigorov)

The decals come from a Micro Scale RR sheet.  Three individual and tiny numbers.  It took a little while to overcome shaking hands.  Still, I think this sub looks great.  I will probably get more from OKB Grigorov.

Another fine Hobby Boss model.  I have the Akula and the Typhoon sitting on the painting table.  Hopefully, I will make them look good too.

Stik:  Doing awsome with yours.  Looks like its going together pretty fast.  and what you did with the wood decking...  wow!!!  Sorry to hear about your paint cracking on the hull though.  I had this happen to me a few months back, think i had thinned the paint to much when i sprayed it with my air brush. 

Looks like alot of people are going for Badge #5.  but i will leave it voteing till the end of the month. 
as for me I have big plans for tomarrow to work on my builds.  Been pretty buissy planning for my upcoming wedding in June, that and every time my fiance touches my computer she breaks it!!! lol!!!

B17, your Big "E" is looking beautiful!

As for me, well..... today's painting was going smoothly until... BANG..Major Snag... for some reason, the white paint (MM AcrylMarine Colors Schnellboot Weiss- did I mention that those paints bite???) which I used to paint the false bow waves cracked while drying. Now the colors that were on the hull beneath have had MONTHS to dry and cure(perhaps a year or so...), so I know that is not the cause of said snag... I will give this a fewdays to dry completely and have another crack at it next week...

so to avoid any other stress moments, any furhter painting was put aside so that I could complete construction of the forward and aft superstructures. I added the rainlings, reels, twi 37mm FLAK mounts, a boat crane, the aft 105mm FLAK mount, and some of the small boats.

And here is a shot of the superstructures placed on the hull, along with the bridege and stack

Next up is touch up of the Hellgrau base color. Adding the Dunklegrau camo patterns, and then a wash. I think next week will see her nearing completion on those area.

First off there's some great looking ships being built here!

Well its been a while, but the hanger bay on my Enterprise CVN is done.  Man its time consuming cutting and repositioning all those tiny wings, and to top it off I get to do it again for the flight deck!

Anyway, the two lowered elevators needed to be finished and weathered a bit to finish off the hanger bay. Also added some guys here and there to spice up the model a bit.

Today's progress: A wash of Raw Umber to all wood decking areas. The wash worked great and looks better to my eyes than it does in these pics.  The overall effect is a weathered wood now...

After the wash dried madesome touch ups of the Hellgraucamo basecolor on small parts that needed it , painted the 20mm guns on the stack platform, and began the camo painting...
