Hey Greg, yeah great kit, lots of nice detail and attention to the little things. I am sure this will be a joy to build.

Can you update the front page for me, I definitely won't be building the Mossie but I did manage to get my hands on a Revell 1/32 Sea Venom which I want to build as a NF.3 nightfighter. I actually saved for months as a kid 30 years ago to buy this kit when it was a Matchbox offering so I am pleased to see the Revell reissue as I made an awful mess of my original as a 15 yo kid.

Cheers

Trey, the finished product looks great.  I love the action shots too.  All you need is some siren sounds to go with them.  Cool

Satch, Hercmech and Casper.  keep the pics coming guys.

I'm calling my Ar 234 done.  It could use some more weathering etc. but I like it the way it is so  Stick out tongue

I can't believe I put all those little rivets/screw heads or whatever the heck they are on.  Some guys on another site were taunting me and I gave in.  Had to pull several whiskers off the cats to do it.  Makes the purrfect paint brush size.   Wink   Naw, actually I had a set of decals with them on but it was still a tedious process.  The key was to trim the excess carrier film off so that they didn't overlap onto the clear parts.

This is the third Dragon 1/72 scale Ar 234 that I've done.  One more to go but I'll wait awhile before finishing that one.

Pics man, show the pics...

Hercmech, I like that finish.  You said post-shading?  What was your process/tools?  I am not super happy with my acrylic washes over a laquer clear.  I like yours though.

Caspar, glad to see you starting the 110D!  I am looking forward to seeing it come together.  It would be nice to hear your opinions of this kit.

Cheers,

Greg

I've finally started my first kit for this GB, the Dragon Bf 110D "Nachtjager". First of all I gotta say there has been some truly outstanding work in this GB to date and the bar is quite high.

I forked out for the Eduard interior/exterior PE for this kit. The interior features some Zoom PE with the self adhesive. Nice and easy to use with out applying messy small amount of CA glue.

Didn't have the correct colours and the LHS was closed so today was spent mostly cleaning up parts and adding PE to parts for painting in the office.

Some nice little enhancements and details with the extras.

Cheers

Setting it extra high?  I already look like I'm building with Legos in comparison!  I am looking forward to seeing what you have in store.

I haven't made any progress worth photographing.

Hercmech thanks!!!

Greg thanks and yep thats 4 but you've got lots of time before I start #5 its going to be a worthy build for the Ace badge. I'm gathering up the last bits of aftermarket conversion goodies as we speak. I'm setting the bar extra high for my building skills with the next build!

Trey,

Love the in action photos you have.

Ditto, awesome shots!  Updated the front page.  That's four, right?  At this rate, I better come up with the NF Ace badge quick!

This group still active?  If so I'll have another entry by the end of the week, hopefully.  My Hellcat is a F6F-3n.

O.k guys you are making me feel like a slacker, so I did some work last night. The pictures suck becasue they are from my phone, but I feel bad about not updating my build, and I did not want to break out the DSLR, tripod etc. Anyway on to the pictures.

All are just my preshade efforts, nothing fantastic, or cosmic,

Thanks Dave, The decals look like they laid down nicely and the canopy looks awesome. The 1/48 scale was a major pita ca'nt imagine doing that in 1/72 nicely done. The clean up should be a breeze ,I do'nty see anything that really stands out .

Trey, Casper, your builds are coming along nicely.

Got the decals on, used AM set for everything but the unit badge as the Dragon decals were in very poor shape.

The homemade canopy turned out okay I think though I need to clean it up some.

p38jl

hey Vance, I haven;t seen one done that way,,but as an FYI,, all the -M's were deployed in Japan right after the war ( IIRC ), and saw little use for long, so they should not have been to heavily weathered...

oops, forgot to reply to this part! Yes, they didn't actually see anything more than "occupation patrols" if I recall, so I'm not going for the heavy weathering look anyway. I'm thinking the dot-filters may be a little more subtle.

Casper - thanks for the pic of your Blackbird. Just enough variance to show some wear & break up the black, that's what I'm going for alright.

VanceCrozier

I'm interrupting for a question folks - has anyone in here tried dot-filtering on an all-black aircraft? I''ve got a P-38 nightfighter tha should soon be getting time under the airbrush & I'm looking to break up the all-black finish a little. Just wanted to have a look at somebody else's work first! Big Smile

Hi Vance, I recently completed a 1/48 SR-71 for my Stealth GB

This is the bird after the flat coat;

Then I applied light to dark blues, some yellow, white and grey dots. I also used some red and brown near the exhausts. I think the results turned out ok.

The P-38 might not have as much stress as an SR-71 but a bit of refinement may help break up the overall black.

Cheers

Greg, I bid off that weekend so I plan on going.  Are you bringing your boy?  My 15 year old expressed an interest the other day but I'm sure that will change as the day comes closer.
