Berny - Thanks for the compliments!  I'm glad you liked them.

I actually wanted to grime up the German one a bit more, but nerves got the better of me and I decided to just leave it.

Thanks again! Yes

Chris.

Hip! Hip! Hooray! Toast

I wanted to make it official that I'm calling the "Geasel" 100% done!

On my display shelf next to my FB-111A and below a few other of my builds!

Pay no attention to the un-completed work below....

I'm not done yet, guys! That Luftwaffe "F" ain't gonna build itself!

Give me some time to come up with a better photo and I can choose a better place than my cluttered desk!

*******

On my workbench now:

It's all about classic cars now!

Why can't I find the "Any" key on my keyboard?

Congrats, Jim -- she's a beauty! To say you started with an old model and did this with her is pretty remarkable! Outstanding build!

Take your pick of the badges, sir! Let me know when you have a photo you're proud of and I'll get her onto the Honour Wall. (She's our seventh completion.)

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Smile Jim -- hover over the one you want, right click, choose 'save as' and drop it into a folder on your hard drive. Then upload it to Photobucket, Flickr or any other spot on the web, copy the URL of the hosted image and paste into the signature line of your profile. Wallah! Much like uploading the WIP pics...

Hey Dom, you are not going to believe this, but I too have an F-111A sitting on the shelf waiting to be built!  It is very eerie how we have a lot of the same kits.

Ken,

The guy who I bought alot of my older stash from had about 7-11 kits each of all the planes I like. They were stacked up like firewood. He had 15 Monogram F-86 Sabres. A dozen F-100's, a pile of MIG 15's....

I was a Cold War Kid, so i love polished aluminum, F-84's, F-86's, Genie missiles, the Century Series, Hustler bombers, B-36, B-47, BUFF, yeah, that was my era. I also have a Monogram F-111A, and a Minicraft FB-111A.

You already know....lol.....I remember an interview with a guy named 'Boots' Blesse?, him and his team would break the sound barrier in F-86's, full vertical dive, years before Yeager ever stepped into his X Bullet.....

I swear that sonic boom is still reverbing in my stash.....keeps it alive......lol.....

Sounds like we both have the same taste in kits, although my stash has never been that large.  Usually it takes me weeks to just scrounge up enough for one kit. lol

Yeah, Oh Yeah!?!

I was just going through an old Monogram stash and found a load-out for a 1/48 Monogram Navy F-4B, and it has this 'super squirt-gun' looking package attached to a pylon. Hmmm....and that early ECM pod Berny showed us, where'd that come from?

Uhhhh......sstillll......need......1/48......Monogram.......F-4.......

Oh well, those 3 Revell 1/32 are about all I can deal with these days, but who knows, Dayton had tons of stuff I thought was oughta' print!

So, soon I'm going to develop the coconuts to cut the plastic for those intakes........maybe soon......

I've been trying to get my hands on a 1/32 Phantom for years.  I always get sniped by someone with more cash to spend on eBay.  lol  I just don't want to get stuck with the RF4E 1/32 R/M  I hate the nose shape on the recon birds.  And those are the only ones that stay in my range.

I hear you on that, I would have built my current scratch monster with its recon nose and Immelmann graphics, but the decals were oxidized, and the kit very warped.....should'a moved on...lol....

I tried on Ebay, but when you consider that it is so difficult to get a kit up here form th US with anyhing less than a 40-90% premium on cash with shipping, and 300% premium on shipping time, it makes sense to buy locally if available.

That means I suffered about 80 bucks for the 1/32 kits locally, and they are no longer available.

I scored the Tamiya about 3 years ago for $40, I use it as a reference to build my scratch monster.

Here's the thing, I've either paid way below market for kits from collections, or way above market for stuff I couldn't find anywhere else when the bug hit at the time.

I think it has evened out....but...I'm a master at fooling myself these days.......Wink

Yo Bocks -- something about that sounded a mile off to me so I looked it up, and somebody is selling high-grade snake oil. The XP-86, flown by George Welch, made its first highly cautious flight at Muroc on October 1st 1947, and Yeager broke the sound barrier in the X-1 precisely fourteen days later. Somebody was entertaining a bar crowd with tall stories, methinks...

Yep, I totally agree with you Dom.  I have made some good scores on ebay, and paid way too much on others.  I figure it comes out about even.

I think that maybe our hobby has turned the corner and is starting to pick up again.  I mean, I just bought the brand new 1/32 F-84E that Hobby Boss just put out.  And there is already some aftermarket parts for it!  And look at Sprue Brothers, their business has increased enough that they had to move into a new building.

My hat is off to those of you who have been in the hobby for the long haul.  And kudos to Rich for getting his daughter enthusiastic enough to participate.  What a great hobby that parents can enjoy along with their children!

Yeh I have noticed some of the new kit prices coming down a bit and I have also noticed that it's getting a lot more competitive on auctions.  More people seem to be wanting the older kits.  Oh and thanks for reminding me that I need to get her started on her Blue Angel this weekend.

DOGFIGHT!Devil

Lol.....yeah, and Chuck admits he got blasted on the night before his record breaker....lol...and broke a rib falling off his horse...from that bar...in nowhere....X Nihilo....Vill.....lol...

For sure, who really knows, the Bell .50 Cal did it in level flight.....but some claim the F-86 was still the very first...i would be honoured just to sweep the bar room floor after that 'discussion'...lol

Yeah, Chuck was handy with a handy one himself......lol.....some guy in an ME 262, or a 163 maybe beat them all, growing flowers these days....BeerYes

I agree, Bootes probably had his crew out after Chuck, but who knows for sure?

And not to confuse you with a Say-Gu-Way, but look at what happened to Scott Crossfield, and his program, the media gave the Ruskies credit for the first man in space, Ka Putnik...lol.....love doing that....and everyone bent over to kiss the linoleum as though that was true....
