Another question; does this look about the correct placement for the missile status camera? Revellograms itructions are vague and I can't seem to find and clear pictures of one installed. Not even in my walkaround book.

To answer your question on the Aux Air Doors, they would be closed in flight.

Dom, I also got the T shirt.  It came out very nice.  Thanks to all that helped with the design.

That's it on this one.  I am now back to work on my FGR.2.  I received replacement parts to fix what the idiot cat destroyed, and I purchased new cockpit PE parts, new MB Mk7 seats, and new Resin intakes.  The cockpit is finished and the seats are under way.  I have mounted the cockpit in half of the fuselage but I have a bit of sanding and stuff to do to get the fit right when I put the other fuselage half together.  I will send up images soon.

That's great!  Honestly, I have never had a kit fight me as hard as that one and I was terrified it would get lost in the mail.  I have some drop tanks if you need them.  I didn't realize that I had forgotten about them until after the bird was on it's way.  Did you check the front landing gear door?  lol.  That inkjet decal film is soooo flimsy.  I printed out a sheet with about 20 of that little block of text on it and put three goats of glosscote on it, and it still took me 9 tried before I could get one on with it tearing on the little raised rivet detail on the door.  I also hope I got that blue line under the canopy correct.  You might want to chop back the tail probe.  I wasn't sure what length it was supposed to be.  It's metal so make sure to wear goggles when you cut it.  We had hoped to have it ready by the Air Force Museum visit, but I just didn't have time.  Then afterwards I had to paint in little bits because our power kept going out...lol

Hi all. Haven't posted for a while. The cockpit is coming along nicely (finally) and halfway through painting it. I will post pics soon.

I need some info. My Revellogram C/D has two open panels on either side of where the centreline pylon will be placed. I believe they are only supposed to be open when the landing gear is down. But I am doing my f-4D in-flight. Can anyone confirm for me that I need to somehow close them? Thanks.

Hi SomeNewGuy,

I think you may be talking about the Auxiliary Air Intakes.  I believe that they could be open in flight.  But someone with more knowledge about it would have to confirm this.

It is actually a Hasegawa kit-I'm sort of addicted to them, I guess. However, at recent prices, I only buy them when on sale. I have had issue with masking lifting off the metalizers at times, but I find sometimes that letting the kit set for a while, (days) makes the metallizer less likely to lift!

Hey gang! I'm happy to say that I have actually laid hands, so to speak, on the F-4F the last two nights! It was somewhat minor stuff, like touching up a few seams and then starting some masking on the inside of the canopies where they will appear black.

Also off topic, I am also continuing on that F-105G and now that I completed the building of the tub, I thought I would post a photo of it along side the melted one. I was rather pleased how it turned out as it is the first time I ever scratched something this complicated.

It's a bit glossy right now as I wanted a smooth surface for those self-adhesive PE parts to stick to. I guess it's sort of related to the F-4G though, because I got interested in the Thud as it relates to the Weasels used in SEA.

As to PE parts, I was considering future projects and thought about sprucing up the cockpit of the 'E' when I start it someday, but i can only seem to find what I want available only at Eduard's web site. The sets I would like to have are marked as discontinued and deeply discounted! Have any of you had experience ordering directly from Eduard? I understand it may take a month or two to arrive? And shipping-is it expensive? They also have a set for the RF-4C discounted in case I decide to go for that kit I mentioned earlier.

Oh, and last but not least, 26carlos, those metallic areas look great! I never seem to get the same effect when I use the Testors products. Model Master metalizers work very well, my experience is that I can apply masking tape (Tamiya, with care) without ruin the metalized paint, but in this case with the metal areas the gral painting is practically finished. With a soft cloth you can buff to a nice result. Give them a try Big Smile

You´re F 4F is looking very nice, what brand is it ? Revell Germany? How´s the fit ?

Thanks for your advice, You´re wright, those wheels are from the Monogram kit which is an Air Force F4.

I have the original wheels of the ESCI kit that are Navy style. The thing is that I don´t know if they´re wide enough. Here I´m posting a couple of pics, I´ll appreciate your opinion.

About the horizontal stab leading edge slots I know that they are all natural metal all the wat to the tip, but I´ll paint that in another satge, masking that was really difficult.

Have you tried Sprue Brothers?  I got a lot of good goodies including cockpit PE from them for very little money.   I checked and they have an F4E cockpit detail set for $20.49.  It is SKU EDU49231 so just search for that SKU in their advanced search.  I have used their PE a lot and it's very good.  Their website is at www.spruebrothers.com  I wouldn't wait too long if you like them, stuff on their site sells out fast.

Thanks, but I am an insane builder of of 1/72nd scale kits, of which SB only lists color zoom kits for an F-4J and an F-4B/N, both of which are sold out. I may try the Eduard thing....

Hello:

I painted the metalized parts of stabilizaers and aft part of the engines cover (that´s the name ?) The masking was really dificult, I broke the little antena (on the rudder) in the process Tongue Tied I´ll repair it and paint the zone again.

I used Model Master Buffing Metalizaers (Burnt Metal and Stainless Steel).

Nice job on the "J".  If you don't mind a suggestion, the horizontal stab leading edge slots should be natural metal all the way out to the tip, up to the stab skid.  Also I noticed on another post you made, you are using the Air Force style wheels.  The Navy jets had a different style and they are available as after market resin.

Got the parts of the office primed and then a coat of FS36231. I really like the way Aires do their IPs. A clear finely printed film with a PE panel over the top. I always do a thick gloss white coat and then use the paint to glue down the film. The less CA glue on IPs the better as far as I'm concerned.

I think you mean the fuel dump nozzle.  I don't think one of us has gone without breaking at least one of those off a kit at some point.  LOL.

Hello:

I painted the metalized parts of stabilizaers and aft part of the engines cover (that´s the name ?) The masking was really dificult, I broke the little antena (on the rudder) in the process Tongue Tied I´ll repair it and paint the zone again.

I used Model Master Buffing Metalizaers (Burnt Metal and Stainless Steel).

Hi Rich,

This is by no means a criticism, but just a clarification.  On our trip to the museum with Berny, Berny pointed out that everyone seems to get that part wrong.  (You were not there the day Berny brought this up.)  It is not the fuel dump, but is the fuselage vent for the fuel tanks.  The fuel dump nozzels are in the wings.
