OK, after a move and life getting in the way, I completed my Ventura two months after I wanted to.  I built it OOB with only the attenna added.  I had extra parts left over, so I'm thinking another version is in the planning stages.  So after a slight delay I finally finished up my second build for this GB.

Highly recommend this new Ventura kit from Revell.  It fit really, really well! Might just go get me another one to do a RAF/RCAF version.

I assume you are going to run it for 12 months. In which case, count me in.

So does a part 2 starting in January work? That will give me time to finish up old projects, as well as the Ventura (will post the finished pics here, once I get settled in my new place)

I'm a slacker as well.  I've had a crazy busy year of real life, and have been having a really hard time getting motivated to get started at the bench when I actually do have time to work lately.  Got a bit over my head on the full Eduard interior (but it is looking pretty cool), and have been completely unmotivated to sand/scribe the fuselage for the eighth time (trying to blank out windows), but I will finish and post in regular A/C forum or in the No More Excuses build.

Daddy1-

I use Photobucket to post my pics too. You may know this already but, if you click on the "Direct Link" on the photo you want to post,it automatically copies it, then you click on the icon to the left of the film clip in the forum tool bar, which opens the "insert media" window, right click in the box, click "paste"and  "insert media" and your picture will show up in your post instead of the links...much easier for viewing than opening individual links, especially if you have a dinosaur of a computer, like me...Big Smile

I would deffinatly be up for a part to. Personally, i would like it to be next year, got a few other GB's and other things to deal with this year. But i am sure if it ran long enough, i could make it.

Unfortunately , a lot of "life" has been getting in the way the past several months. Sometimes lucky to get a few hours bench time a week. While my Goonie' is moving forward , I'm not at the 90% stage yet. One of the toughest things is after a long ,hot day at work , to sit down at the bench and zone because your so exhausted. Having a case of AMS doesn't help either , have to try and do some OOB builds , see if I can remember how LOL.

Here is where I'm at ,

Finished detailing the gear bays . Overlaying the molded lines, etc. added much to the realism and depth of the detail in those bays. Still need to give some weathering there , but plan on doing that with the engines and inside the cowlings.

I've also got the cowl flaps built except for the actuating mechanics. They need a little fine tuning , I think they tuned out pretty well.

As you can see , I'd be up for a part two to continue this project to finish . If I can get past this stage and get the wings on , I'll be at the paint part of the process.

BTW- Life hasn't gotten in the way of acquiring more kits to build . Recently picked up Tamiya's 1/48 Beaufighter MkVI , an original issue Willams Bro.s Laird Super Solution, and a 1/48 Hobby Boss Ta152. Why is it when we go in the LHS  just for some paint and glue ,  we come away with the stash a little bigger too.

I`d be up for a part 2...got all kinds of bomber kits. I`ll get the Betty done and post it. One bummer tho`...can`t find the open hatch glass for the `pit...made a sunshade for it and it looked good but it ust up and vanished. Might be able to scratch one  but it`ll be tough. The price we pay for joining too many GB`s at once!

I think the best thing would to keep it open to get the almost finished ones done. I wouldn't want to keep extending it, but for those that are in a over 90% done, it would seem the best thing to do is to keep the build going to finish them up, cause yeah, life does get it the way.

So for those of you that are around the painting stage, feel free to finish 'em up and post the your completed build here.  Looking forward to seeing them!

Or should I make a Way Too Many Props 2?

I guess there will be no last minute stay of execution? I`m 98% done with my Betty and there`s no way I`ll git`r done by midnight...don`t want to screw it up by rushing. I think there`s a few people around here that wouldn`t mind an extension...right B-17?  lol

Dude, its your group build.  I think you're allowed to put an extension on the time limit if you really want to.  Not that I'm saying I'm going to have trouble finishing mine in the next two weeks or anything.  That's not what I'm saying at all.  Ahem.  Wink

Well, I must officially say that I won't be able to finish in two days.  I am moving and had to pack up my models and workbench over the weekend.  I did get the PV-1 on its landing gear before I packed up the supplies.  I thought I would be able to get her done.  Alas, I must wait till a month from now to resume work on her.  I such a bad host for not finishing my own project. Oops

I got a pick of her before she got packed up I'll post when I get home.

Been working too many 12-15 hour days lately, but that seems to be finally letting up a bit, so I may yet have a chance to knock this one out.  I've actually gotten a couple hours of bench time this week on the Lancaster.  Still not entirely happy with the filling/sanding of the windows on the fuse, but have made nice progress on the what seems like millions of parts on the Eduard interior set.  Also, managed to assemble two nacelles, a wing, and part of the tailplane this week, so there are airplane-y parts coming together finally.  I'm hoping to go all Fermis on it over the next couple of weeks and finish strong.

trying to clear my tables of partials so i can focus on just a couple of builds. while waiting for stuff to dry i started on the other 2 nacelles. aligned them, filled and sanded, primed, touched up and refiled and sanded and primed and they look good. washing off the primer to clean up and a section just broke off. just had a separate piece in my hand. noticed stress fractures on the other one too. easy enough to fix so, while letting the filler dry i looked at the first 2 and plan F went awry and the exhausts were obviously not at 3 and 9. so taking my time and using an 11 blade and a scalpel i was able to cut/pry/remove both, sand it down, and tried using white glue to reposition them. actually this was a good thing as this was a serious fix and the potential to break the exhaust was there. BUT i was successful and will be more confidant i can fix serious flaws and mistakes in the future. will post pics of nacelles when i finish them.

they look like stress cracks.

Yeah I'm still like, "Where'd this go?" on this new format, oh, well.

OK, small progress as been made.  Life as been getting in the way, but I've managed to get the blues on.  Need to touch up the white and small areas in the blues along the joints but, she's painted.

up to plan F. looks like exhausts are at 3 and 9 and bottom part is at 6 so, except for 2 little round "panel lines"at 11 and 1, i can rotate the nacelle so the engine front is correct and fill in the 2 round spots and redo them. won't get to this for a few days as i am keeping tabs on the front range fires in colorado

Hey All!

I finally got one of my builds to the finish line....Tamiya`s Mosquito Mk.VI FB...here`s a few pics...

I took the pics outside in my backyard...much better lighting!

I used Tamiya paints and artist oil washes. I used some weathering powders that I`ve had for so long that I don`t know their origins anymore...lol. All clear parts were dipped in future then masked with Tamiya tape. I think that`s about it! Any questions/ comments / crituqes are welcome as usual.

Thanks for looking!

started my ME-264. special hobby model. doesn't have a lot of alignment pins which got me into trouble. got the tail assemblies together, filled sanded and primed. some touch up but they look nice. run over with super fine sand paper and wash and they are ready to install and paint. put 2 nacelles together, 2 halves and a resin engine front. my first time with resin so i cut each one out with a jeweler's saw. they fit fine and put all 3 pieces together. nice tight secure bond of course SINCE i didn't realize the engine front isn't symetrical. plan A was take them apart. that lasted about 10 seconds. Plan B is fill in and redo 2 little holes near the top so i could have the front correct but this would mean eyeballing where all the other nacelle stuff goes. going with plan C which is a big prop hub plus not much detail of the engine front showing plus dark colors plus how many folks even know there was an ME-264. lesson learned. pay attention, especially when working with a smaller company kit.
