Ugh, good news and bad news.
Bad news, i had a jar of turps spill over my desk the other day (damn you earthquakes) it melted the horizontail tail planes to the desk. Fogged up some clear bits. Melted parts of the engine etc.
Good news. i have a spare kit lol.
Thankfully no damage to the stuff ive already put together.

I got the bird together but some fairly nasty gaps due to the extra amount of resin parts. Some gap filing will take care of this problem.
My masks seem to be held up in the Xmas post so I am pretty much as fair as I can go when the putty dries and is sanded.

Got the fuselage sewn up with the rear engine assembly. It fit together much better than I anticipated, knowing sometimes the havoc a single resin cockpit tub can cause. A couple of unexpected gaps to fill but no biggy.
Very snug fit, the interior cross walls fit almost perfectly and in the right spot;
This is just a test fit of the front engine assembly but it turned out to be sturdier than I anticipated. This is going to be an awesome looking bird.
Got some more engine work done on the Dornier. It's really necessary to get most of this done prior to fuselage assembly. Also a lot of testing and dry fitting to be done to make this work. Going well so far...
Front engine assembly 99% complete, just a couple of wires and pipes to add as well as a bit more oil wash;
This will be attached last of all, even after the decalling and greeblie attachings.
The rear engine housing. Piror to weathering. I'll do this once the engine and full piping is fitted out;

Its the dragon 1:32 early mustang.
Its not the easiest kit, and i lack motivation with it. I look at the box and cringe.
Man that is big,the biggest one I've done has to be the 1/48 He 177 ,that thing about put me in the poor house just in glue and paint! Why do you say you wo'nt finish the Mustang?
I KNOW RIGHT. Its bigger than my B-26, by quite a bit. When its done itle have the biggest wingspan of any aircraft ive built. Or any aircraft in my stash, including the 32nd scale F-5 ive got there. I think its slightly smaller than my 32nd mustang though, but i doubt ill ever finish that.
Casper you're doing freakin' awesome with that surgery ,thats not for the faint of heart! Office is looking great as well as the engine and forward fire wall

Got some major surgery done on the Dornier today in preparation for the Aires resin parts. I'm only half way through but wanted to show a comparison with the original kit parts.
New wheelbay in butterscotch resin.
Fuselage had significant surgery. The front engine housing is gone as well as the rear panel for the rear engine. Also note the cut out inside the wing attachment. That was hard work.
Ok, halfway there. Time for some lunch then the other half!

So after many hours of cutting resin and handling microscopic pieces of PE, I now have 2x Daimler Benz engines.
Next prime, then paint.

Really easy actually. I laid a yellow base coat down, got some dark brown, dotted it, smeared it with a clean brush, then another really like layer of yellow mixed with a touch of brown over top to dull it down.

Soooooooooo looking forward to this build Casper! That is a crazy amount of upgrades but it will be well worth the effort I'm sure.

Ok, here is my entry for this GB. Sprues and resin watched and drying at the moment. I am using the Aires engine upgrade kit for his model. It contains 2x Daimler Benz engines plus wheelbay replacements.
The amount of resin in this upgrade has to be seen to be believed. About 60 casting blocks plus PE parts and wire. Also some frightening surgery has be done on the fuselage and wing wheelbays on the kit.
I think I have my work cut out for me on this build (no pun intended )

Got most of the office done...

I`m still working on the Betty but need a break before I break IT! I started a Tamiya Mosquito FB Mk. VI. Got the nacelles together and some prelim-painting. Will post some pics soon.
Dad built it years ago with the same intention (RNZAF VVIP Bird, carried Queen Elizabeth in 53) but every time he stood it on the landing gear the fuselage would split. I may have to reinforce some of the seams. But i wont be putting anywhere near as much detail as dad put in. Ill be leaving doors closed and windows curtained over. Ill leave the rear door open and scratch the galley though.
Heres the real aircraft as she is in the wigram airforce museum.
I beleive she only has around 17000 hours on her.
Scorpiomikey - Got the front page updated. Built one of those a couple of years ago for a club build, nice little kit. Can't wait to see your work.
