that camo looks great! Bet it took a while to finish!

Update on my A-20, got the PE set installed, and am about to paint the interior green.  Still got to get the PE IP built and painted. Photos soon

I rescribed the panel lines

then sprayed the cammo, I could'nt find the recommended colors so mixed some up myself ,I think its close to being correct

the 193-6 is the scheme I went with

Really?  The Revellogram's (and a few Tammies) are about the only kits I can find at my LHS.  In stock at least

lol.. They did the same thing to the bottom side of one of the stabilizers on their P-51 kit I just finished. It makes you wonder what prompted the genius (after going through all the work creating molds for these kits) to do such a thing?

BTW, thanks guys for the nose weight heads up for tricycle gear craft. Wink

Reasoned: Stuff as much weight as you can in the nose. The landing gear well side of the navigators tunnel is a good place to start if you're building  a glass nose. I also stuffed weight in the front of the nacels. You can put weight anywhere you can hide it as long as it is in front of the main landing gear.

made a start on the B-17. No pics as yet, still fitting all the PE to the insides, haven't even started on the PE bomb bay yet. Will get some pics up once the inside is painted.

Thanks. The kit has not lived up to all the horror stories I heard about it. Dry fitting and sanding of parts before assembly and it comes together pretty well. One exception to that is the fit of the cowlings to the wing... very bad.

The guy who designed the turrets on AM kits is just a little sadistic.

Blast shields from sheet styrene. I'm having trouble forming an astro-dome behind the cockpit... I made one but it was much too small and now I can't seem to duplicate the effort.

In some reviews it was said that the fit of the cowlings to the wings was problem... this is the only problem area I had.

The top pic is the cockpit from the Monogram J model,....... What's surprising to me is the similiarity of the enginering on kits designed 20 years apart. I guess Monogram got it right and there's no reason to reinvent the wheel. I like the injection molding on the Monogram IP over the AM version even though neither IP looks anything like a B 25 IP. The detail on the AM version is sharper and more delicate than the Monogram. Both cockpits need a wash and some drybrushing. Getting close to buttoning up both fuselages. The interiors of both of these kits have a lot of detail that won't be seen in the finished product.

There were also B-25s with domes larger than the one in your picture, so there was no specific "D model" dome.  That was really the point in my previous post, that there were no model specific domes

No it's the size of the dome included in the kit. The aircraft in question

The kit has markings for five aircraft none of those aircraft has a dome that is even half the size of the oen included with the kit.

The Italeri kit is ready to button up

Over all the detail is crisper and much more defined than the Revelogram kit... having said that when I build these kits again I will not waste too much time on the interiors, most of the detail is invisible when the fuselage is glued together

The B25 J is ready to button up.

Now it's on to the D model. I'll post side by side pics for comparison in a coupel of days. There's not much room in the glass nose J model for weight but I figure I can fill the navigators tunnel with something. If that's not enough I can fill the front of the nacelles.

Anyone know where I can find AM M2's? The quality of the guns on both kits is pi$$ poor (I'm being kind).

Aires makes a set M2s.  Don't know exactly where I got them from (Greatmodels, i think), but I used them on my B-17G and they are really nice detailed kits.  They are the whole guns, and comes with ammo belts.  IIRC, you get two complete guns.

Well I pulled the A-20 out of its box and started fillingin ejector marks where they're going to be visible and adjusted the cockpit for the Eduard set.  Paint to follow soon

Hans, I do have some ideas of what I'm gonna do.  I've been tossing around ideas for the last couple months and think I know what I'm gonna do.  I was originally gonna have 2 B-25s, a glass nose J and a gun nose J and have them together with the glass nose being beat up and having repairs done to her and then have and almost brand new gun nose next her with her nose opened up and getting loaded for a mission.

After realizing that that would take up some serious space I decided I'm just gonna do a gun nose with maintenance being done on her.  I'm gonna open up an engine and put some scaffolding under it with some ground crew tinkering with it, and then I'm gonna open up the nose too and have a guy working on the guns.  I'm thinking I might have a table put up somehwere where a guy is cleaning and working on some .50s. 

I've got hooked on dios working on the one for my B-17 (still plugging away at it) and decided I need to do a Pacific scene now.

 

EDIT: I took a peek on the website with Shep's dios to see the B-25, and I noticed his P-61 dio is very similar to what I plan on doing with my B-25
