Soft line with white tack - all the pics I've seen that aren't modern resto's show what looks like a soft line, but a very "tight" soft line.

As for the nose cone, I'm doing one off the Zotz sheet ("Sea Deuce 2"), and it's nose is IB

Doogs: You use a hard line or soft line?  Can't really tell in the pics in the book I have (too far away)

Looking great Doogs! Almost done with a P-47 (since it hit the decal stage, all modleing time has been going towards it), then progress will be made on the Ventura.  Is the nose cone suppose to be white? or is that on the Aleutian Island version I'm doing?

Theuns: Awesome C-47!  I need to "damage" a plane one of these days.

Theuns

Thanx.

I have always liked the 3 tone sceeme, very nice! What kit is the Ventura?

Theuns

Revell's recent 1/48 release. Very nice kit. I wouldn't put it up there with the latest from Tamiya - details are a bit soft in places - canopy frames, guns, wheels, some panel line detail - but it was also $30, and for that, the quality is great.

Looking good, Theuns! Really like the job you've done cutting up the control surfaces!

Finally got the last stage of the tricolor done!

Not much more I can do before I'm stuck waiting for the octopus mask...

Latest on my "shot up" SAAF C-47.

I did some pre-shading and 2 light coats of Humbrol PRU blue for the underside (and also the top as a primer)

Brown and green top cammo to follow.

1/72 C-47

1/72 C-47

Shading just showing through

Perhaps a "spy Dak" would have looked like this.....LOL!

I love the way your Flying Wing is coming out.   It's really tempting me to pull my X/YB35 1/72 kit out of storage...  Great work!

In the Hangar: 1/48 Hobby Boss F/A-18D RAAF Hornet,

On the Tarmac:  F4U-1D RNZAF Corsair 1/48 Scale.

Reasoned yes I think they did, next time I'll do the Y version with the single props!

Doogs the finish is looking great, your preshading work is awesome!!! And I would rather slam my dangly bits in a rusty truck door than do all those prop tips again!

Primer on and panel lines rescribed, hope to get some NMF going today!

First, preshading...

Then blended...

Doogs I'm really diggin' the technique you used for the white ,very convincing!!!

Theuns Nice scratching on the interior it looks great!

Len the Mossie looks really sharp, hope the carpet monster gives up the Betty part.

I've gotten some done on the wing and its ready for a shot of primer. Not happy with the seams  ,they molded the bottom ones right across the exhaust humps! My rescribing skills are'nt good so its looking ugly at the moment. While the primer is drying I'm working on the fiddly props and gear. The wheels are'nt the right tread pattern so I figured none would be better and sanded them smooth.

That`s it for now with the Mossie. my Betty is at about the same point but I misplaced the canopy hatch...just vanished and it`s pi$$in` me off. It`s prolly hiding in plain sight I hope. Thanks for looking!

Hi folks.

Here is the result of 3 days of on and off building.

It is an Italeri 1/72 C-47 that I will be doing in the SAAF markings.

The overall fit is absolutely way better than on the Hudson and although the internal detail is very "little" it can easely be installed.

I added some rib and stringer detail from stretched sprue as the cargo door wibb be open.

Yes, believe it or not the S.A. Air Force did actually paint the Dakotas that awfull collour inside LOL!

Alright...so painting white is easy. Painting a worn white not quite as easy.

Over the offwhite base, I switched to a mix of Middlestone and Olive Drab for panel lines and panel shading. Thinned Neutral Gray was also streaked in the direction of airflow.

http://i780.photobucket.com/albums/yy86/doogsatx/Aircraft/Revell%20PV-1%20Ventura/04cf7e44.jpg

Thinned the offwhite way down and went over it all, stopping just where I think the effect is still too noticeable. It's been my experience that once more pass would look great, but disappear under clear coats, washes, and weathering. So I'm trying leaving it a bit more blatant this time out.

Very well executed!!! I like the look that puke yellow gave the white. Much better than blcak or a dark gray would have done.

Len - Swanny's tip is basically to "gate" the seam with tape close on either side, apply putty, smooth it out/down with acetone, then pull the tape up. This way you don't make a giant putty mess. Use it all the time myself and swear by it for fuselage seams.

Speaking of...went back with some Mr. Surfacer 500 last night and cleaned up a few areas. Reprimed them.

The white base goes down tonight. I'm planning to lay down white, then preshade, then lay down white again to make sure I get  the coverage I'm looking for.

And I thought I had a lot of paint!!  Looking great btw

He needs a pile of paint, building in 1/32 most of the time...

That's just the Tamiya and Gunze...
