Time for an update me thinks. Gone prtetty well this week, i did have an issue fitting the canopy, but got there in the end.

Heres what i should have posted last weekend. Which isn't much, just the interior fitted to the left side.

 But i spent most of that week getting the seats together and finally got them fitted at the start of this week.

And then the fuselage went together. Theres been alot of filling and sanding needed, especially underneath. When i tried fitting the canopy it kept pushing the IP out of place. So in the end i have to remove a lot of the IP and re-position it slightly. The clear plastic isn't very clear and could have done with replaceing. That may have helpped fitting. I still have some filling to do on that, so going to be a few days before i get any paint on this.

Thanks for looking, been a bit quiet lately, so hopefully we can kick it off again.

Nice work on chinook Bish the detail level seems good instead of other matchbox kits (out of PE parts of course ) .Surface details are usual trenches?

Yep, overspray to subdue the markings. I don't know if it was intentional camoflage, or weathering from salt spray etc, but any "from the Falklands" pics I came across seemed to have the markings really washed out. The verdict on the nozzles - the aft pair were hot & should be burnt metal; the forward pair were redirected "cold" air & would have kept the camoflage colour for the most part.

Next up for me on this GB is my Special Hobby Pucara - have to try to keep par with bondoman's build of the same kit, hope I'm up to it!

bsyamato - nice work on the Harrier, I'm really liking the paint, it has a nice worn look to it already.

el jere, good job on the colour match, that seems to be a tricky one to deal with as the photos from that time can be quite different from one to the next.

Azorean - setting up for a Super Etandard as well! Looking forward to seeing another.

 

Alright, I'm calling my Sea Harrier 98% done. I didn't like how the Sidewinders turned out so I'm re-painting them. And as always after pics are taken, there are a couple of tiny little things that are bugging me, a little touch of paint here & there before moving into the display case....

This is the insignia I need. On the aircraft, the red trim and the Mirage sillhouette are painted in the same shade of gold rather than in the different colors of the patch here.

 

 

think you need to paint free hand or print yourself by some clear decal sheet (or found actually ? )

How big will that be on your model?? Even if you don't go the "make your own decal" route, if it's small enough you could laser print it on some glossy paper, punch it out, attach with white glue & hope the clear coat kind of hides any "step-up"...

Here is my progress on the Chinook. Firstly, the kit i am building.

I have mainly been working on the cockpit so i could get that fitted. I have added a few bit to the inside of the fuselage, but nothing worth showing.

This is how the whole interior looks, the next job will be to add the seats.

And some close ups of the pit itself. The only problem with taking macro shots is that they show things you can't even see with the naked eye in this scale.

I used some small bit of wire to replicate the switches on the panel between the seats as well as the over head panel. They really are not as big as they look here.

Photos from the front of the IP show yellow wires at the back. So i used some to replicate this in a way that seemed logical.

The panels are all Eduard PE, but the un painted version. So i had to paint these as best i can.

I'm starting a project to make 11 planes to celebrate the 30 years of Falklands/Malvinas War. Those tow I've already got in mine collection: the Sea Harrier is a Hasegawa builted in 1986 and the Super Etendard is a Academy from 2010. Next, the new models on the workbench. Regards from Brazil!!!

Front page is looking a lot better. Now we are into 2012 and the 30th anniversary is looming, hopefully we can get some more on the front page.

Nice interior on the Lear El Jere

I think I will be kicking off on my Mirage IIIE this weekend on my days off. Just curious, but does anyone have a set of the squadron insignia for the tail of a 1/48 Mirage III E that they are willing to part with? The Superscale sheet I have  for the Argentine Mirage IIIE does not include that insignia. It is for when they first were delivered before the badge was applied.

Looking forward to that Mirage stikpusher! Sorry, no decals from me though, anything "modern" for me is in 1/72. (Man, I need to find a bigger place!)

As I said the interior is incorrect but it was painted just to put something inside. With th doors closed almost nothing is visbl.

Vance in the first page you need to change th scale of my build, it´s the Heller kit and 1/48 scale LOL

The decals needed are few and easy to achieve.

This is my second build for the group.

The kit is the same kit than Hasegawa offer, although is an old kit with raised panel lines and basic detail is quite good for it´s age and th fit is exellent.

I plan to build this plane

I had troubles finding data nd mostly pictures of th Learjets during the war.

My build th VF-17 was used in to check radio helps and calibration task, during the war it helped with the navigation of the poorly equiped argentinian fighters.

I have no idea about how the interior of the plane looked so I use the parts provided with the kit (configurated like a VIP transport) and I will shut the door because I´m quite sure that the VF-17 have no leather seats LOL.

Here is what I have done so far.

I want a  relax build so the only complicted thing I will do with this plane is to rescribe the panel lines.

I just want to focus on the nice scheme of the plane.

What C-130 kit is are you building.

The Airfix 1/72 C-130 kit John traded to me is an E, and the RAF flew H's so I will build another aircraft of the FAA, and coincidently the other aircraft that "Sharkey" Ward shot down, C-130 TC-63 . Sadly seven were killed in that one, as opposed to Tomba who survived. C'est La Guerre.

Just perfect, El Jere, just perfect.
