Nice interior on the Lear El JereYes

I think I will be kicking off on my Mirage IIIE this weekend on my days off. Just curious, but does anyone have a set of the squadron insignia for the tail of a 1/48 Mirage III E that they are willing to part with? The Superscale sheet I have  for the Argentine Mirage IIIE does not include that insignia. It is for when they first were delivered before the badge was applied.

Looking forward to that Mirage stikpusher! Sorry, no decals from me though, anything "modern" for me is in 1/72. (Man, I need to find a bigger place!)

Jere - your info has been updated.

This is the insignia I need. On the aircraft, the red trim and the Mirage sillhouette are painted in the same shade of gold rather than in the different colors of the patch here.

Hi There,

My name is Sergio and I'm from Brazil. I'm new here and I'll start some planes from the Falklands War and will post here with you guys, starting by two Harriers GR.3, a Sea Harrier, a Skyhawk and one Pucara.

Regards from Brazil,

Sergio

I'm starting a project to make 11 planes to celebrate the 30 years of Falklands/Malvinas War. Those tow I've already got in mine collection: the Sea Harrier is a Hasegawa builted in 1986 and the Super Etendard is a Academy from 2010. Next, the new models on the workbench. Regards from Brazil!!!

Here is my progress on the Chinook. Firstly, the kit i am building.

I have mainly been working on the cockpit so i could get that fitted. I have added a few bit to the inside of the fuselage, but nothing worth showing.

This is how the whole interior looks, the next job will be to add the seats.

And some close ups of the pit itself. The only problem with taking macro shots is that they show things you can't even see with the naked eye in this scale.

I used some small bit of wire to replicate the switches on the panel between the seats as well as the over head panel. They really are not as big as they look here.

Photos from the front of the IP show yellow wires at the back. So i used some to replicate this in a way that seemed logical.

The panels are all Eduard PE, but the un painted version. So i had to paint these as best i can.

Thanks for looking, hopefully more next weekend.

How big will that be on your model?? Even if you don't go the "make your own decal" route, if it's small enough you could laser print it on some glossy paper, punch it out, attach with white glue & hope the clear coat kind of hides any "step-up"... Hmm

Bish! Very nice work on that cockpit. Yes

bsyamato - nice work on the Harrier, I'm really liking the paint, it has a nice worn look to it already.

el jere, good job on the colour match, that seems to be a tricky one to deal with as the photos from that time can be quite different from one to the next.

Azorean - setting up for a Super Etandard as well! Looking forward to seeing another.

Alright, I'm calling my Sea Harrier 98% done. I didn't like how the Sidewinders turned out so I'm re-painting them. And as always after pics are taken, there are a couple of tiny little things that are bugging me, a little touch of paint here & there before moving into the display case....

Nice work---why the overspray--to subdue the markings???  What was the final verdict on nozzle intake/exhaust colors???

Big SmileThe Feldmarschall arrives - INSPECTION TIME!!!

Yep, overspray to subdue the markings. I don't know if it was intentional camoflage, or weathering from salt spray etc, but any "from the Falklands" pics I came across seemed to have the markings really washed out. The verdict on the nozzles - the aft pair were hot & should be burnt metal; the forward pair were redirected "cold" air & would have kept the camoflage colour for the most part.

Next up for me on this GB is my Special Hobby Pucara - have to try to keep par with bondoman's build of the same kit, hope I'm up to it!

Nice work on chinook Bish Yes the detail level seems good instead of other matchbox kits (out of PE parts of course ) .Surface details are usual trenches?

bsyamato Thanks. Most of the panel lines are raised. The few engraved ones Are not as bad as you might think. I'm not sure why the mix though. I have been looking closely at the Chinooks on the flightline here as i go past to work. And i can't make out any difference in the panels, so no idea why Matchbox has a mix. The kit detail is pretty basic, the PE does help a lot. I haven't added the internal padding, or added anything else to the inside. I don't think the effort needed would be worth it. But with the seats in, its looking ok. I was going to add some pics last weekend, but didn't get round to igt. I now have the fuselage together and have been spending the evening filling and sanding. So i will get some pics up this weekend.

Time for an update me thinks. Gone prtetty well this week, i did have an issue fitting the canopy, but got there in the end.

Heres what i should have posted last weekend. Which isn't much, just the interior fitted to the left side.

But i spent most of that week getting the seats together and finally got them fitted at the start of this week.

And then the fuselage went together. Theres been alot of filling and sanding needed, especially underneath. When i tried fitting the canopy it kept pushing the IP out of place. So in the end i have to remove a lot of the IP and re-position it slightly. The clear plastic isn't very clear and could have done with replaceing. That may have helpped fitting. I still have some filling to do on that, so going to be a few days before i get any paint on this.

Thanks for looking, been a bit quiet lately, so hopefully we can kick it off again.

What'd you use for the seats, PE? For my Chinook build, I scratch built them out of paper and paperclips. Your also looks a lot like the Italeri kit  Im building. Do you think they shared the moulds?

Ye, those seats are eduar PE. I just used plastic rod for the support bar along the top.

I don't know who bought up the Matchbox molds, but its very possable it could be Italeri, so they may well be one and the same.

in some way could be Hmm lots of things are differents and  others seems really exacly, as the rororts basements and the back mounting rudder have same panels

probably italeri improved the moulds with also new pieces, panels are all engraved

Ye, they are all individual belts, took a couples of night to fit them all. And ye, the ramp will be down and the side door open. Now its all sealed up, its pretty dark inside, so you can't see that much. So rather glad i didn't go all out and add the quilting and other bits inside. There's just enough that it doesn't look empty. I am just getting all the antennas fitted. I had to do a bit of searching as the ones on the right side vary depending on aircraft. I finally managed to find one of BN's right side, so i can go ahead with that. Should be ready for paint by the end of the week.

Hi Bish, crossovers OK? I'm doing the Airfix 1/24 FRS.1 Sea Harrier for the Airfix and Harrier GB. Though adding a third GB to this kit might be ok.

1/24???? Sounds big enough to use for multiple group builds! Wink Sounds fine to me so long as it's got a Falklands connection.

I'm just finishing off a B-17G for the NMFIII GB and then doing a 1/72 Super Sabre. I should be tackling the Harrier sometime in the next month or so. Geeked

Well, it's not everyday you have a 1/24 scale kit in the stash (or under the bed) so I decided to bump the 1/72 Super Sabre and start the Harrier now. This kit will be in 3 builds, Airfix, Harrier and Falklands.

A lot of pieces, a lot not on sprues and not very well organised or numbered. I'm going to have to work out a filing system to keep track of the pieces.

I'm also adding this Flightpath upgrade set which includes resin wheels and ordinance and heaps of photo etch and white metal parts for the cockpits and engine and ladder etc.

This kit is a gift pack and has supplied some small pots of Humbrol paints so first things first some cataloguing and converting into Tamiya and Gunze from my collection.

I think I'll have to fill up the tub for this one as well to bath the parts Big Smile

Cheers
