Wait, so are you saying that you DIDN'T leave one link unglued on the OTHER side?

Oh, and re: how many days are left, I AM COUNTING! Surprise

Correct. Apparently I was so excited that it appeared to work, that I didn't leave one undone. It would slip back over the wheels fairly easy, if there weren't staggered road wheels. It was a learning process. I might have some issues with that left side or perhaps even the right. Big Smile

What "gauge" is a No Trespassing sign? Guessing .30" or .40"?

It looks like .020"  One drawback is that the painted of the print has to be scraped off b4 gluing .

This is a pic of my tracks. They work for now, but putting them back on after they're painted ought to be interesting. The right side should be easier, because I left one link unglued. It was an interesting experience and seemed to work well. I dig magic-tracks.

Looking good Eric ! When you get the tracks painted and ready to slide back on try having the front and rear sprockets painted and ready , then insert the sprockets into their position on the tracks and slide the sprockets onto their respective axle/pin . After that the wheels arrent to hard to slide into place by expanding the tracks top and bottom . Of course there is the inter-leaving of the wheels to deal with . Hope this helps .

I appreciate any and all help Carl. Thanks.

Thanks all. Probably won't get anything done until Monday. I have a family weekend, so I'll be busy.

Carl-your scratch building continues to impress.  Looking forward to more pics.

Eric-Glad you got the tracks done.....looks like it's time to fire up the air brush....and enjoy your weekend-still 30+ days left in this one.....

Hoping to get the tools painted and attached this weekend, along with a coat of buff and some weathering.  I signed up for a Lean Six Sigma class that is going to cut into my spare time for the next two months.  Hopefully the class will pay benefits later.....now it's going to be another 'thing to do'.

Bob thanks .

Ok your probably tired of looking at this radio but anyway last night i added a micro phone to it . I found out that my dimensions on the radio were off when i went to attach the upper hull so some retrofitting was needed .

Carl - Nice work on that radio!  The mike really adds to  it!  BTW, what color did you paint the interior?  I thought red oxide was the primer most used, but your's looks more like a brown color.  Could just be the camera though.

Eric - Tracks are looking good and I think you won't have too much trouble getting them on.

BOB - Had always noticed the steel wheels and now know why they were there, thanks.

ERNEST - Would be very intrested in the casting as long as you think you have time, there's not much left.  So if ya post some great, if not I'll catch it next time.

DUPES - Good to hear your card reader arrived, now off to work before end of June.

ERIC - Nice looking tracks! Magic tracks are great arent they.  Dont think ya have much trouble as the others had said, just use some patience.

CARL - She is looking very sweet! and NO...not tired of looking if anything find myself too keep looking.

Everyone keep up the great work and look forward to the next post.

Good news, I was able to undo one of the links on the other tracks, so now they are both unconnected. Hopefully they will go back on easily.

Good luck with the tracks Eric. I've glued the run together like that and you can get them on, it just makes it a bit more fiddly putting them on. Now that you've got them separated they should go on with no problem.

Got my tracks done and the superstructure is attached to the hull. This is how it looks right now.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get some more done over the long weekend. I was really hoping to start slinging paint this weekend but I don't think that's going to happen.

John, looking great!!! Yes  I bet you brought that mat from Hobby Town USA because I have the same one.  Wait a minute... is that PE bending tool I see in the background? Wink

John your build is coming along nicely. The tracks look great too. Does this baby come with the metal mesh schurzen?

Yeah, I learned not to be afraid of these guys anymore, so that has been one positive of the the GB so far. Cool

Hey Andy! No, I got the mat many years ago down at Scale Reproductions in Louisville. Yep, that's my bender and I'm going to put it to use here shortly. Not much PE on this build but there are a few pieces to be bent.

Thanks Eric! The tracks aren't the nice Magic Tracks. These are the older style that you have to cut off, trim the nubs on both sides and remove 2 ejector pin marks per link. Tedious indeed. Sadly, no, this has the plastic type mesh screens. Not sure yet if I even want to fool with them though.

I've seen them built up on an older Pz IV J, with a comparison to the Tamiya J. That was probably at least 12 or more years ago. Probably longer. The schurzen looked like a bear to assemble.

JOHN - Really have a good start now.  The older tracks are long and tedious and yours look great!  Interested in how she builds up and comes out.  Almost purchased this one a few weeks ago but could not figure what schurzen came with it.  Would like to have the metal but how is the plastic type?  Which kit comes with the metal or is it aftermarket?

Anyway cool vehicle with the stepped up front glacis and the mesh schurzen.  Definitely makes for a slightly unique build.

Hey Carl! Thanks, and I know what you mean about the weather. Haven't had a lot of time this weekend to much on the build. It's been nice and sunny here the last couple of days. We've been having a lot of rain and storms the last few weeks. It's been good to get outside and get a few things done.

Hi Rob! Thanks! This is an older kit that I've had sitting in the stash since around 1996. Fit is OK but the hull was very warped. A few ejector pin marks in some hard to reach places. The plastic mesh is a sheet that you have to cut out to match the templates. Voyager used to make an update set of PE that included the schurzen. I don't know if it's still available or not. There are probably other sets out there but I haven't looked. I'd say if you want to build one the one Eric has listed would probably be best.

The more I look at them the more they look like a lot of trouble. Still, I've got to give it a shot I suppose. Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say. Smile

That's the spirit. I almost gave up on my cables, but Rob talked me into scratching some.

John-nice work....especially on the tracks.  I did a set of 'clip, file, sand, glue, curse, re-glue' Dragon tracks for a T-34....they too were not Magic Tracks.  Looking forward to more pics.

Tools are mounted on the Jagdpanzer.....a lot of touch up painting to be done.  Oh well, it's all good.

Question for the group-does anyone know if the gun cleaning rods were metal or wood?  I would think wood to prevent scoring of the barrel, but given the length of the L/70V, I wouldn't want to guess.

I can't say with absolute conviction Bob, but my guess is wood.
