I cut some .8mm styrene to fill the gap

Thanks for the great comments everyone,I'm pressing on and finding a few more fit isuues. The wing trailing edge has a large gap I think in part because the cockpit floor is also the bottom fuse under the radiator intake. I'm doing a gear up build so I had to thin down the gear doors and trim away some of the raised detail in the wells. The gear doors fit really well on this kit unlike the Tojo. The fuse halves fought me hard and are going to need some tweaking here and there but nothing major. The canopy is pretty rough but I'm going with it ,might add some character and I'm pimpin' on a budget

Guys just got back yesterday. Great time, have to admit I hated having to come back.

Trey: Magnificent! Another great model, just put the Otaki Ki-61 down and yes that is a big friggin' seam but you seem to have things in hand.

Bsyamato: Glad to see you finally got at least two of the kits you were waiting on. And yeah amazing the difference between them.

Satch: Sorry my response here is over a week late. Frankly I'm not sure if Vallejo makes Mitsubishi interior green or not but it's very close to USAAF interior green/green zinc chromate. I'm not sure anyone would be able to tell the difference if you used that colour in Vallejo.

Welcome back Cliff! Thanks for the kind words. I'm calling it finished,not real happy with this one ,the fit was pretty bad in a lot of areas and I could've done more to it just got frustrated and wanted it off the bench.

Trey: That's fantastic! Simple paint scheme but it suits the long elegant lines of the Ki-61. And I love the in-flight photos! 

, I leave for two weeks and you finish two models in the time I'm gone. I wish you could bottle that- I could use a good swift boot in the rear.

Putting up your photo on the front page and putting down the Raiden. I built one some years ago, it is a really good kit, you'll enjoy this one.

The office is done,very basic but nice moldings. Would have liked a real IP instead of a decal sheet but oh well.

Despite decals ip the office looks good

honestly not see the whole particular in the picture , i just find the otto autopilot, about 25 or more year not see the movie.

Actually i'm stopped with mary and zero ,want to finish one or two other kits that are about 99% finished ,then come back with the two japs!

Thanks Bsyamato appreciate the kind words. I 've got the basic fuse glued up and there are just a few small seams to deal with. The worst is at the bottom trailing edge of the wing. Heres how I deal with seams, first tape up the gap on either side and squeeze squadron putty in the seam

quickly remove the tape before the putty fully sets

then carefuly apply some acetone on the putty with a 'q'tip gently rolling the tip to smooth the putty edges

then sand with 400 dry followed by wet sand with 1000 ,then a quick rescribe of the panel lines

after that a little bead of tenax settles down the scribed lines and blends the repair,after that its just a quick buff with 1500 wet and its ready for top coat

The wing roots got the same treatment

painted up the pilots(not my strong point)

I`m starting to think you don`t sleep Bro`! I built that kit a while back...nice fit. I never finished it because the lightning bolt decals fractured into a thousand pieces.  Yours is looking great as usual.

Well havent been checking in too much.....been a slow build..as usual...but I do have the Oscar closed up and primed...staring to pain the white fields on the wings and fuselage for the hinos.....so while the paint dries I started my Fine Molds Ohka.....very nice little kit.....I completed the pit and closed it up too...

I added some extra fiddly bits to the cockpit....some wires on the side walls...I also scratched a seat back which for some reason doesnt come with the kit seat...I cut a piece of PE fret...added aother piece and bent it to form the back.......hats off to Fine Molds...besides that overall it has very nice detail and a great fit!!

Big-Z: Looks great! Not sure I'd have even noticed the missing seat back - looking really good. And don't worry you're not expected to build at Trey's rate, goodness knows I'm not

the seat looked wierd so i did some research and found some pics....also the instructions, which are in Japanese so they dont help too much, have a cutaway that shows the seat back as an open frame and lightening holes in the seat pan which arent on the kit seat either...so I opened up the holes and built the frame...without that you had this strange looking low seat with high sides which made no sense at all...

Well based it with the ole TS-30 as usual,gonna be a small bit of salt so it was needed. Based the bottom with various shades of random grey tones and 'faded ' the fabric areas on the flight controls. Mixed some red/brown testors for the spinner and props. The next bit will be the top coat. Not finding many different schemes so I'm going with the 352-37 with the bricht yellow v on the fuse sides.

Yeah..my computer has a name too, forum rules prohibit me from typing it though.... Maybe "Tron" will get a nick name by the end of the day.....

 

Ok, yeah I have to admit back when I was having all the problems with the power supply - Piece of.... um well I think I can say 'poop' here though I used another word at the time was my more used term of endearment.

I'm getting the same error at work and at home, on two different computers with two different browsers. The only thing they have in common is the website and the user. So I have to figure that it's either something I'm doing or the FSM website. I wonder if there is a top limit to the amount of data in one post, maybe I'm bumping the bar and the site won't let me post any more? Anyone with website experience that might know here? I suppose I could break the roster in half and put the first half of it in the first rules post.

I did a little salt just in the wing root area ,from all the pics I could find the paint looked pretty intact on this bird. I used a dark green for the preshade then applied several coats of thinned Japanese army green over that. After the yellow and black were applied I gave the whole thing 2 coats of kleer then started the decals.
