Nice to see you're back Troublemaker :)

Thanks Buddy!  I`ve been in a little "modeling funk" but been lurking in the shadows. I think I have a little bit of the ol` "GB overload"...joined too many and it`s taking the fun out of it. Have to keep it down to a maximum of 3 at once but, there`s so many good ones out there..aaarrgghhhh!!!  Big Smile

Wishing me too Len ,) but here i connot say no Cool

Cliff Tenzan was my first thought Yes sign he in!!

Ok, yeah I'm strange but I mostly call a plane, tank, or ship she instead of he, just one of my weird things. Like using British spellings for armour and colour, don't know why- I just picked it up somewhere.... Propeller

nope , she is Jill, you're correct Geeked

heres the official presentation (old pictures):

sprues (missing pieces are the main parts)

test fitting!

the kit includes two decals sheets and two different instructions, fujimi probably mixed the original two boxes, one of sprues seems more recent than others. The two missing hinimaru was used on mary Embarrassed

Already shaved and thinned the cockpit walls, theres no details but some sink mark. The cockpit floor cutted  to use as template for the new full scratched cockpit

vertical rudder cutted away from the fuselage. The particular thing of the tenzan is the vertical  tail fin is not ad the center, but is moved on the left side Surprise probably to compensate the engine twisting action

engine gears and torpedo (not yet decid about the armament to put on).

Unfortunately gears are in single piece with the wheels Crying also the opened gear doors are molded in a single piece!! will use the closed doors as template for new ones

The greenhouse have some frame.. i like Stick out tongue will be tedious to p aint but the look is good when finished.

Dunno the best way how to show openened

I will use as main reference the hasegawa 48 scale article that i have in an italian magazine, builded by "Daniel Zamaribide Suarez".. i think is even on internet. The Daniel model interpretation is outstanding!!

that's all for now, i'll try to do something before september but really hard Sad

Hi all... I would like to board with a Nachimo 1/48 scale "Nick". I've never been too much into the Japanese aircraft, due to the fact that when I began to build (too many moons ago to want to mention) about the only thing offered was the ZERO or the NATE (I think) , and as of the last decade or so, a great number of kits have been released sparking a new found interest.

Now, I'd like to submit a picture or two of my latest "ZERO" Not to be considered part of this GB, It was started and completed already, Just as a dio for comments and critique. Thanks, Doug, (RR)

Whoa Rigidrider that looks absolutely fantastic!

End date December is tempting with the Ki 61 in the stash but will I have the time? Let me think on it.

Wow RR! Surprise  What ever gave you the idea for an underwater dio?  I'm sure others have done that before but being new to this (and not having seen many dios), it is something that gets your attention, fantastic! Yes

Science is the pursiut of knowledge, faith is the pursuit of wisdom.  Peace be with you.

Thank you,,, Your too kind! What gave me the idea was from talking to an old navy pilot who flew the F6F-3 Hell Cat in the pacific during WWII. Old Mr.Saunders could talk your ears off, and I was always mezmorised by his stories. He had shot down 11 Japanese planes and had told me of the "dog fight" with this one Zeke that was the hardest he had fought. In the end he won and "Sent the Zero to the depths".  Well Mr. (Lt.Jg.) Saunders passed away a few years ago and I just thought that I would try to memorilize him somehow. This was the best way I could think of. I always try to do something just a bit different then someone else may do, and I try (within my skill limitations) to be as realistic as possible. You see, any one can build and paint a model and it will be quite beautiful and an eye catcher, But a Diorama brings it to life. The placard I made to title it reads "September 2nd 1945, 2 years and 3 months at 16 fathoms". Mr.Saunders told me that was the date he shot this one down and it was 2yrs and 3 mo befor the end of the war. Thank you again... Take care,Doug (RR)

Bsyamato: Nice! Interesting box, was that maybe an older boxing or one for Japan only? I've never seen one of their boxes like that. Looks like a good kit, though that canopy is going to be painful.

Doug: Wow, that is awesome!!! Cool Love what you've got there! You should post it over in the diorama section. Just great work damaging the plane, and I love the string-ray and the pilot. If you should ever make it down the US Navy Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida has two US Navy bombers set up in full scale dios with lighting and everything to look like they're underwater.

BW: Up to you. As I said no penalty if you don't finish in time. Big Smile

Gamera... That sounds cool, My son is in the Navy and is wanting to be a career sailor. He works on aircraft and his squadron is presently deployed on a carrier, but as soon as he gets back stateside that will be a must see for me!

Thanks for the tip!

Doug: Just saw your diorama over in the dio forum. Cool to see we're not the only ones to love it! The museum is really worth seeing, lots of beautiful blue planes. I'll see if I can find my photos I took, I don't have much of the underwater dio though since my camera batteries were dead at the time. Plus Pensacola is beautiful, the sand is almost white- looks like a beach of sugar!

Bsyamato: Hmmm, ok maybe it's a newer box I haven't seen then, interesting!

Thanks but it's ok, just interesting the different boxes. I don't watch the 1/72nd ones as much as the 1/48th though so I probably just hadn't seen one.  Propeller

Here's the only photo I got of the display before my battery died on me. They have coloured lights set up to give an underwater effect. Both aircraft were lost on training missions over the Great Lakes, recovered, and cleaned up but left in their wrecked condition.

Being US Navy they have lots of blue planes!

Gamera... Very Cool! Thank you... I will make that trip a MUST SEE! I live in suburban Atlanta Ga. so the trip to Pensacola will only take about 6 or so hrs. I remember seeing something on History or Discovery about 2 dive bombers(?) being recovered from Lake Mi. several years ago. Again, Very Cool! Thanks!
