Modeler#1: As the guys pointed out, it's aotake - a translucent blue varnish applied over the metal of the wheel wells. As the aotake aged it turned more greenish. You can either use a metallic greenish blue from the bottle or paint them aluminum and then overspray with a translucent blue, possibly adding a little green like Tamiya.

Bsyamato: Yeah, I'd also go with letting the paint dry a few days longer, it might take care of the problem without you having to do anything. Cross your fingers.

So i crossed all the fingers, included from foots

i risk to paint the matt layer and worked, will cure another day and pass another extra thinned layer. 

Actually the only bad thing is the not panel lines washing

Basically left only to paint the front of propeller blades , gluing all pieces and weathering some .. and mary is finished

Clade silvered!!! this tecnicque seems work with humbrol silver

Bsyamato: Good to see the problems cleared up. The Mary looks perfect now and the Claude is super shiney!

As I understand it aotake was a sealant used on the internals of the frame. Nick Millman thinks it was a kind of bluish or greenish clear fluid that went over NMS so it would not really have been a color. Millman recommends spraying very heavily thinned green or blue over silver. Of course I've never done it.

Doogs, thanks for looking out for me man! Unfortunately I'm looking for the two-seater trainer version. That's the one-seat version with the parts for a cut-away lower tail for towing a target plane for gunnery training. I've got one in my stash, very nice kit, with white metal parts and a yellow underbelly to warn the student pilot - 'SHOOT THE TOW TARGET - NOT THIS PLANE!!!!'

Bsyamato: How on earth did I miss your post yesterday??? Yet another great build there! I continue to be amazed how you get that fantastic weathering with a brush.

As final words on the mary, the fixing of three back canopy pieces was one of major problems, and the chippin with brush, after the weathering allow a shiny finish of visible metal that contrast nicely with the rest of matt finish

The antenna mast was enforced with metal rod and the pitot replaced with a brass rod too (... and the tail wheel reinforced too with some metal after a break )

Lots of experience collected with this short-run kit good for the next one (just yesterday i found on my main vendor lots of amodel with an high discount, expecially little kamov's helicopters )

The Claude is at good finished percentage too (80%?), will waith to finish it to put the Tenzan on the table

my lucky is that the med is the only side that don't show the real size of kits and i can cheat on it. Texas Hill could be a good backdrop for armour. Also you see from live the mediterranean sea, but i don't see from live no texas hill or others USA countryes  

BTW i'm used in summer to have some excursion in the mountains here, will try to get some picture

I too am amazed we're up to page 110, when I started this I wondered if I'd get enough entries to do a GB and page 110 and we're only about halfway though- WOW

here the actual claude, just remover the red masking

need to correct some error on the separating line and can put the clear varnish with a micro drop of yellow on the metal surfaces.

The engine and other pieces are even at good point
